Also not sure if we have any jam band fans here but going to this tomorrow and very excited http://brooklyncomesalive.com/
Local Natives killed it last night Really want to go tonight but Terminal 5 is on another planet basically
went to Chvrches there last week. It's quite the hike, plus a terrible venue if you get there a little late. No sloped floor? GTFOH
Very similar thing happened to me, but we just had to saw off one of the couch legs to get it through my apartment door.
hahaha KJROD20 said the SAME thing but this spot was a referral from a coworker so it was out of my control!
It was my birthday this past weekend so lots of good eating. The Black Ant, East Village Upscale Mexican spot. Had the guacamole (which jalapeƱos and pomegranate seeds sprinkled on to), cactus fries, suckling pig/shrimp tacos, cantaloupe habanero gazpacho, and ridiculously tasty sweet corn sorbet. La Loteria, West Village Had been here once before (Think I posted about it). Great brunch. The huevos rancheros and huevos de benito were both fantastic. One of those spots that doesn't get a lot of love because it doesn't live in the Instagram brunch world, but I've really enjoyed it both times. Trattoria Il Mulino, Flatiron This was the one I was least excited about going in as there are a few other locations and fancy-ish Italian usually isn't my thing. But I actually really enjoyed it. Had tuna tartar, grilled octopus, grilled asparagus, a couple of pizzas (truffle mushroom and sausage broccoli rabe), and salted caramel gelato. Nai Tapas Bar, East Village Gotta be honest. This was pretty average. Had been to most of the other tapas spots in the neighborhood but hadn't been able to get a table here the one time I tried. Would easily prefer Cork n Fork a couple of blocks away. Oiji, East Village So, so good. Had been once before but was probably too drunk to truly appreciate it. Mushroom salad, beef tartar, fried chicken in a soy balsamic sauce, pork dumplings, pork belly and kimchi, and one of my favorite desserts I've had since I've lived in New York: Honey butter chips (also with brown sugar infused) with vanilla ice cream. Somehow they keep the crunchy texture with all of that flavor. Stupid good. However the best meal I probably had was Spoiler My gf brought me a little gift back from CA
I love the black ant but the plates are so small. Walk by Il Mulino everyday and wonder how it exists. Right next to other places that are probably better and just seems cookie cutter to me. Glad the meal was good but still a place I see people going in to eat lunch or something and wonder why they aren't going to other spots.
What's telepan? Also, do you guys have any go to spots for furniture. My GF wants a couch from West Elm that costs $3k. I'd obviously like something cheaper.
not too far from me couldn't do better in the area imo. right between the bars and the good restaurants but not too loud of an area overall
I have a couch from Raymor that I'm selling. Gray/blue sectional--great condition. Also, I have 3 pieces of furniture from West Elm that I'm selling. TV stand, shelves, and coffee table. All similar to this:
We got a lot of the furniture for our new house at Macys. Decently priced and 0% financing for 18 months.
I'm sure this has been asked a million times so sorry but what's the best pizza place in Manhattan(I already know about Sbarro)? Also what's the best way to get from LaGuardia to the times square area? Thanks friends
I could be interested in all of them. Definitely going to need a TV stand. Can you send links or text me pics
Depends. I'd say for a slice Joe's in the West village is your standard go to As for the commute I'd say a cab. Or if you want a scenic tour of Queens and Harlem, the M60 bus then the 2/3 to times square
Let me recommend an alternative to Times Square that you'll enjoy more. Exit LGA on the Grand Central Parkway, get off on Hazen Street, and follow the signs to Rikers Island. But if you're just trying to go to midtown, take an uber ($25-40) or one of the Airport shuttles to Grand Central or Port Authority for probably around $12-15. I think one of them is called the NYC Airporter or something like that. As for Pizza, there are two distinct types: slices and brick over italian pizzeria. I think Joe's in the West Village makes a killer slice. I've always enjoyed Lombardi's pizza for a brick oven joint, though there are probably better. My GF went to Speedy Romeo's Pizza recently and loved it. I enjoyed the leftovers.
Thanks guys. I'll look into these. Also what is the one restaurant at which you'd recommend eating, regardless of type of food?
Benjamin Steakhouse has the best steak I've ever had and I've eaten at a lot of great steakhouses in the city. 60 day dry aged, highly marbled organic beef, cooked at 1000 degrees. If you go, ask to sit in Ricky's section. Whatever you do, don't get it cooked more than medium rare. Traif in Williamsburg is bomb.com and reasonably priced for the quality. You'd have a nice time going over to Williamsburg for an afternoon, poking around all of the shops on Bedford ave and laughing at how stereotypical the hipsters are, walk down to the water to get a great view of the Manhattan skyline, grab a liter at Radegast beer hall, and then go to Traif for dinner. Wiliamsburg is super easy to get to - take any train to anywhere on 14th street, hop on the L train, and it's the first stop after Manhattan (Bedford Ave.) I highly recommend. Just make sure to make a reservation on their website at least a few days in advance.
Nice. It's like the Casper of couches. I'm looking for a sectional. Hopefully they come out with one soon.
I have two Macy's leather couches that are practically as good as the day we bought them, 10 years ago. I highly recommend, especially since I have another leather couch that started peeling less than 3 years later.
Mallorca is awesome you should all go #NewYork to #Ibiza or #PalmaDeMallorca, #Spain from $466 R/T [SkyTeam] (spring 2017) https://t.co/RMnk8lSmSr
+1 for Mulhollands. The Grand National (which I just looked up and apparently is now called Big Whiskey?) and my personal fav 4th Down.
How long you going for? Take the quick hop down to mallorca for a couple days from barca if you have the time. It's beautiful
We ended up at 4th down. Everyone had Direct TV so no Pac12 network, so I just streamed the first half on my phone before heading home.
Going for one week. The $401 fare was only good if I flew Wednesday to Wednesday. It jumped to $1400 per person if I wanted any other day of the week. Since I booked 5 tickets (taking wife and kids), that was a bit cost-prohibitive. Easter is April 16 and my kids have the next week off, so it was the most amazing coincidence to have that all lined up. I'm a museum guy but my wife is a beach girl, so I'm sure that she'll convince me to spend at least a few days somewhere other than Barcelona.
wish they would've incorporated this somehow pretty great seems like the same guy/guys that did the Aladdin one? That was pretty solid
Took the F train from the Carroll stop at 8:15am today and it was turrible. Gotta get back on the morning gym sessions to beat the subway rush. That said, I'm officially a BK resident
