Agree with you on Calhoun. I think Linder sliding over to center depends on the draft. I would rather keep him at guard, where he's a known commodity, and draft a center.

That Linder move has been discussed but nothing concrete. He and Parnell were a really nice combo on the right side early last year - would hate to break that up unless absolutely necessary.

Right but you wouldn't want to start a rookie at C. That's arguably the second most important position on offense next to the QB. Should have kept Wiz or go get a Vet that can help BB.

Wiz was below average. What vet could we have gotten?

Rookies have started and played well at center. There has to be gaps somewhere. Center may be one of those.

True on Wiz but the entire OL was underwhelming outside of Parnell IMO. I guess my main point was I don't see the kid you listed as a starter at C immediately, but I don't know that much about him.

I feel like I remember them talking about a couple center's that are still available. Mack would obviously have been the best option but Falcon's swooped in.

idk, you might be right. I think the offense is about ready to explode.

Myles Jack and Telvin Smith would be a nice combo

So Josh Norman is now available. I would be just fine with making him the highest paid corner.

Definitely. Front load the deal like we have a few others and that gives us really great flexibility with our draft.
You can still take Ramsey, if you think he's an immediate starter and you can push Prince to the Nickel.
Go get a guy like Myles Jack.
Or even trade down, pick up an extra pick, and find a pass rusher a few spots later.

And obviously, team's still only going as far as Bortles develops. He had a buttload of attempts last year, so the INTs aren't super surprising for a second year guy, but he definitely needs to start reeling them in. Hopefully Yeldon being healthy all year will lighten the load on our passing game. Our OL still needs a lot of help before they're a "good" unit.

Even after giving out $74.4 million in guaranteed money since March 9, the Jaguars still have the most cap space available ($53.66 million). So they could easily fit Norman into the cap even at the rumored number of $16 million annually. Norman is an elite corner and would pair well with free safety Tashaun Gipson. The duo would give the Jaguars a young, ball-hawking nucleus for years to come. It also would allow the Jaguars to concentrate on taking a pass rusher in the first round of next week's draft instead of potentially going with Jalen Ramsey if he were available at No. 5. GM Dave Caldwell will certainly send out a feeler. -- Mike DiRocco

    1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Even after wooing free agent DT Malik Jackson, S Tashaun Gipson and RB Chris Ivory, GM Dave Caldwell is still sitting on more than $50 million of unused cap space for 2016. The Jags allowed the most points in the AFC last year and ranked 29th against the pass, so Norman would certainly be a welcome addition to an ascending team that could meet what are apparently lofty contractual demands.

The reports seem to indicate that we aren't interested.

I don't know why Dave wouldn't at least try.

He'll be 29 in the fall & isn't a "cover" corner... Let someone else make that mistake

He's three years younger than Revis and 1 year younger than Sherman. Pay him what he's worth for the first two years of his contract, and then let the number dwindle as he ages.
Unless they're just enamored with Ramsey, it's silly not to at least try.

Being enamored with Ramsey shouldn't prevent them from going after Norman.

He's an upgrade and we have plenty of cash. Front load the contract and sign him. Agree with dblplay1212 that, if the Jags think Ramsey is the best defensive player, the Jags should draft him regardless if they sign Norman or not.

    I still want Jack.

Saying he's an upgrade is a bit of an understatement. He is a ball hawking monster the likes of which jacksonville has never seen and I would still take Ramsey if available, which he probably won't be. It would just make the draft that much more exciting for me.

Surprised he was there. I think LB has to be an aim in the second and beyond rounds, so I was partial to Jack...but you can't pass up a guy that might be a starting CB for 8-10 years.

Health aside, the defense should be drastically better this year. If Bortles can cut back on his interceptions and we can get some damn consistency on the OL, this is certainly a playoff team.

Want spence or Calhoun in the second. That would give us some functional depth at DE, which they still need.

Thoughts on 2nd round? If Jack is there, fuck it, roll the dice. If not, maybe it's the homer in me but I'd like to see us take Ragland. I don't think he'll stay on the field in nickel but with Telvin he won't have to. Having a run stopping thumper in the middle would be nice.

I keep seeing that Jack is probably going to need another surgery on the knee and my miss time next season. :idk:

I would get the best available inside backer or pass rusher.

Yea the reports on Jack are scary, that's why he's still on the board. If it's 50/50, roll the dice. Maybe we end up with a 5 time pro-bowler, maybe we end up with a wasted pick. Not like we haven't had a bunch of those recently.

Jags can't afford that IMO. Jags need to win now. They need someone who can play immediately with the high second rounder. They just did this with Fowler Jr under a different circumstance, I know. If I'm Gus I am not worried about anything further than this season because odds are strong he won't be around much longer.

As a Colts fan, I love this line of thinking. Better to let some other team worry about Jack's knee. Grab Spence or Clahoun & call it a day

If Jack is not draft able in the first, he's not draftable in the second. Calhoun, Spence or Dodd ond LB or center in third

  36. Sheldon Day is one of my favorite ND players. Great guy, really quick hands and natural instincts. Injuries are a concern plus he does not have prototypical measurements for an NFL player, I am interested to see if he can make it because he is a great player just not sure he has the athleticism to make it at the next level

From reading his profile it seems like he's pegged as a situational kind of interior rusher.

I think this draft is very seriously going after what we thought Gus Bradley would bring to a defense, with pass rushing galore and a solid secondary. I am excited.

Actually I think I was wrong because the knee issue talk has kind of gone away.

Jags fucking killed it this draft. I'm legit excited. Oddly enough, the Titans did too. I would love to see the Jags and Titans become the class of the division. Fuck the Colts and Texans.

One thing I forgot to bring up while I was too busy jerking off for 48 straight hours over rounds 1 and 2, but what is the game plan for Brandon Allen? Do they expect him to win the backup role then cut Henne or does he get practice squad and take over for Henne next year? It was kind of a confusing pick to me.
