The line "The Constitution isn't the Star in Super Mario. It doesn't make you invincible so you can do whatever the fuck you want." Fucking killed me
poor peeple app. oliver had to take a massive shit on it and ruin them before they launched. granted i heard a lot of negative shit popping up about it but good lord man, you didnt have to murder them on live tv
Fuck those people for even trying to get it off the ground. I don't have enough faith in human beings to not do it anyways.
They probably sunk a boat load into it. They're going to have to rebrand it somehow. I do find it funny that the outrage isn't about if the app is a quality product but that they missed the obvious reality that people are complete pieces of shit and would destroy each other. But I do feel bad for these broads. Watching their vlog it appears that they're crazy enough to think their ideological fantasy app would work.
Am I crazy for thinking that it would work? People would love destroying each other. It could be a huge hit IMO.
I guess I don't get his overall point on the fantasy subject. There are 100's or worse things going on and he chooses to do that piece? If he wanted to do a piece on gambling couldn't he have done something on the stock market? Thought it was a pretty weak use of 20 minutes.
Yeah I liked the bit, but what was the point, he is against it, but is it that big of a deal? Wouldn't it be better to legalize, and regulate with gambling on sports altogether
huh? The stance was that - this shit is obviously gambling, and the companies responsible for it are liars. And oh, by the way, the largest entertainment companies in the country are complicit in what is effectively a scam for the vast majority of the participants - and the political clout of said companies is probably the only reason this was allowed to happen in the first place.
Last year or whatever he had a show on the lottery and how it is basically a tax on the poor. It actually made me reconsider my position.
I understood where he was coming from, but nobody forces anyone to buy lottery tickets. Poor people may play in larger numbers than wealthy people, but they're doing so of their own volition.
because there's a pretty strong correlation b/w income level and education level Wealthier people are smart enough not to play. Also more risk averse when it comes to looking for $ windfall.
yeah I know, but unless you're advocating abolishing lotteries nothing is going to change that poor people are more prone to doing things that aren't fiscally smart than wealthier people are
I'm not necessarily for outlawing the lottery, I'm more for lifting the bans on sports gambling, poker, etc. They bring up the lottery because it's a hypocritical stance for the government to take, especially because it preys on the poor almost exclusively. Not to mention the awful message it sends to those people that if they just got lucky they wouldn't have to work ever again.
