Was just thinking that when they were talking about west ham not winning at Anfield since the 60's. He has to have a handful of records like that now. Rodgers owes his entire career to suarez who made him look like he had a clue for 18 months.
@SamMcGuire90: I think we've played about 45 mins of decent football since about February. Playing poorly and winning isn't sustainable as we've found out.
I have given Rodgers the benefit of the doubt up to now but he lost me a bit today. I thought the subs were poor and there is a continuing theme of a lack of ability to threaten goal despite an addition of attacking talent. Leaving Gomez and Lucas on so long when goals are needed was baffling to me. I don't know how you keep Lovren as a starter after today either. Sadly Gomez and Sakho might actually be our best pairing.
I'm here as a representative from the West Ham United thread to talk the requisite shit. 1963, eh? Honestly thought this was going to be a two goal win by you guys. I was shocked that Rodgers didn't adjust at half time to give you guys width. It was plain as day from our last two losses that we were vulnerable there. Both you guys and Arsenal got into trouble when you tried to keep the shape tight through the midfield.
Never should have gotten rid of jonjo. He just passes into the open space so well. Exactly what we are missing right now.
I don't understand why Liverpool wouldn't seen Markovic to a EPL club to get experience. Sending him to Turkey is a waste of time. I'm shocked Rodgers didn't keep him, didn't think he was that bad and it takes most foreign players a year to bed in anyways.
Understatement of the year. He is a complete ass and a novice when it comes to selecting a team and making in game adjustments. He had no plan B, C or D. Lovern, that says it all. No winger in-front of Gomez on the left, when you know Gomez does not go wide and cannot properly cross the ball from the left wing, he just comes inside of clogs up the middle. He needs to play Milner on the wing to make to stretch the opponents defense.
I actually like Gomez, he works hard and does his job defensively but not playing Moreno in such a narrow system is just a cardinal sin. I get what youre saying with Milner but dont mind him playing in the middle as long as both backs can come over the top and cross. Also Ibe should be trained to be the wing back backup on both sides. I really would put a totally different team out there. That being said, even with a loss visiting anfield was just awesome

"Saturday afternoon was a case of Dejan Vu. A promising start obliterated, early optimism extinguished and deep rooted problems, so far obscured, laid bare for all to see." Probably one of the most profound statements I have seen. I am going to order a jersey with Dejan Vu on the back.
Its easy to blame Lovren and he deserves all he gets but so far we've scored a worldie from 25 yards and an offsides goal and that is it in 4 games. That's a problem. We've looked totally inept on offense since Suarez left. Almost all of our strikers have performed worse under Rodgers than they had prior to coming to the club or after leaving the club.
Just to let you all know that it wasn't any offer from west brown for me. I'm happy to stay and fight for my place. #YNWA — José enrique (@Jesanchez3) September 1, 2015

http://www.espnfc.us/club/liverpool...erpool-under-brendan-rodgers-wont-finish-four A snippett How much is Brendan Rodgers to blame for Liverpool's lack of direction? Rodgers has been presented with players he does not want nor trusts. In the early stages of last season he didn't play them. This caused Mike Gordon to step in. Gordon is the second-biggest investor in FSG. He has taken a bigger role in running the club as John W. Henry, the principal owner, has pulled away. There is a reason for this: the owners are keen to monetize their investment in Liverpool. To get maximum price, the team needs to be in the Champions League. In a hurry to get there, Gordon has become hands-on. Effectively, he had acted like a director of football. FSG, with Gordon as the point man, put heavy pressure on Rodgers to pick players he didn't fancy. Rodgers made the changes, introduced the 3-4-3 system and embarked on the 13-game unbeaten run. It papered over a chasm of cracks.
So what I read from that little bit is that BR won't play players that he doesn't like (or trust...likely a vicious circle). As mentioned above, the players he does seem to like all suck so he is just being stubborn.
I feel like 13-14 was just a magical year for FSG. Red Sox go from a 90 loss team to win the World Series and LFC made that title challenge. Other than that, they've been shitting the bed both in baseball and soccer the past several years.
I really want to be upset/annoyed with FSG for their moneyball approach and some of that might be warranted but in the end they have spent a lot of freaking money on players. I don't know if it is their fault or BRs or someone else's but all that money has been spent on mostly shit to mediocre players, at best. The way I view an owner is to sit there, shut up and open the checkbook. They might not have done that in all instances but overall the spend has been there, we just haven't spent intelligently. So I can't be too mad at them. /ramblingthoughtsbyCoastalOrange
Yes, people need to stop saying this. LFC have spent a shitload of money on average players. That isn't money ball, that's bad ownership.
Read in the Echo that it's around £21 million net spend for the summer. Seems pretty good to me when weighing the ins vs the outs.
Henry is a trader. He bought LFC for next to nothing and will cash if we make it back to the CL and maybe before if the prospects look dire. His love for baseball makes the Sox ownership about more than just $ but LFC is a trade that he is looking to unload and take the profit.
