What a shit 2nd half. We were very lucky but 6 points is 6 points.

Really pleased with Benteke and Clyne. That's about it.

We really couldn't sub out Lallana after Hendo got hurt. We dropped him back and didn't have anyone to replace him there.

If Brenda rolls out that starting XI vs Arsenal, we'll get skull-fucked

And LOL at Lallana getting all of the media interviews this past week

Moreno looked pretty good on the left wing.

Arsenal will probably destroy us Monday. We have a ways to go.

Lallana getting so many minutes is going to hurt us in the coming weeks

Somebody kill Brenda before the mistakes ruin the season

@Squawka: Emre Can has now won more tackles (64) in the Premier League during 2015 than any other player. #LFC http://t.co/BuXXvUQLK6

That was probably the role given to him (play further forward). He won more tackles in the bundesliga than all but 5 players over the last 2 seasons and they were all defensive mids. To compare his defensive abilities to someone like Lallana is absurd.

Also color me shocked to hear an English announcer call a brown player lazy or call them out for not defending. Next time you hear that about an English player will be the first

I'm not going to argue with you because it's like talking to a brick wall... But I thought Lallana's work rate was great and he got back and defended and won some tackles. He gives us nothing going forward and I hope we start Firmino next week. But he did a great job I thought of sitting deeper once Hendo was subbed off. I don't care what Firmino did last season in Germany. The 25 or so minutes he played tonight he did not defend one bit even when it was needed on the right side. I don't think you can argue that.

Yes I'm the brick wall who is saying there's better defensive options than Adam Lallana. Seriously, that's your argument. Holy. Shit.

  23. Quick

    Quick We ain't no puppies

Your argument was Firmino who did not defend when he came on. That was my point. When Hendo came off and BR sat Lallana back he was ok. I'm not saying that we should play him there but we didn't have anyone on the bench that could play there and he did a fine job.

Wouldn't mind seeing a back 3 against Arsenal with Moreno and Clyne on the wings. Have a feeling they shred us if we go with a back 4.

    So...

    Migs
    Gomez - skrtel - lovren
    Clyne - Milner - Can - Moreno
Coutinho - lolanna (wish firmino or Ibe)
    Benteke

Could also swap Gomez with Sakho, but probably won't.

That's pretty much right. I'd have Coutinho slightly ahead of Milner and Can, Firmino would be up top with Benteke or maybe go with Ings if Firmino isn't fit yet. Also of course I'd rather have Sakho instead of Lovren but alas...

Hopefully Lucas is at least on the bench. I don't really see the need in having both Ings and Origi on the bench.

I like this set-up but my question is whether Firminho is best suited to be on the wings? I don't know the answer to that question.

Let's just put this to bed right now for this season - if Henderson and Milner are fit, they'll start. No way in that formation Can starts over Milner, because Brenda.

I would play Milner wide versus arsenal.

I can't really think of a great lineup. Our roster management has been so terrible. We have too many of the exact same players.

    -----------Benteke
    Milner----Coutinho----Ibe
    --------Hendo---Can (staying back)
    Moreno-Sakho-Skrtel-Clyne
    ----------Mignolet

    Firmino super sub

When Sturridge returns either put him in Ibe's spot or

    ------------Coutinho
    ----Henderson--Milner
    --------------Can

You have no idea how frustrating it is a fan of another team knows our best line up and the fucking manager doesn't. Honestly I'd prefer they didn't run a 4-2-3-1 but since Brendan is wed to that formation, this is the best line up for it.

Really surprised Lovren hasn't fucked up yet. I almost guarantee he screws up against Arsenal and we see Sakho after.

And I know it's not saying much but Lovren has looked better than Skrtel so far.

If you were trying to avoid a 4-2-3-1 with Sturridge still out I guess I'd probably go 4-1-4-1 with Can sitting behind Milner-Coutinho-Hendo-Ibe and maybe even have Coutinho a little advanced

I thought he screwed up a bunch at the start of the Bournemouth game but didn't get punished for it. I think a lot of times the ref doesn't call that foul on the goal. His fuck ups haven't been as noticeable because Gomez is basically playing center back on the left side next to him. After that shaky start where Bournemouth was clearly targeting Lovren, they kind of went to a pseudo back 3 with Ibe and Clyne as the wing backs until finally they brought Moreno on and went to a full back 3 set up. Arsenal has the horses to punish our defense for mistakes and I agree with you that there's a high probability they start cashing in where Stoke and Bournemouth could not.

I've been so impressed with Gomez I'd actually like to see him next to Sakho in a Cup game or in Europa. I think there's a really good chance he's already a better center back than Skrtel.

I just don't see us paying so much for Firmino and not starting him. watson was defininitly right though that our transfers have been so crazy in that we have so many guys that are the same. It's hard to see what we are going for.

I'd try a 4-4-2 diamond that looks like

    --------Mignolet------------
    Clyne-Skrtel-Sakho-Moreno
    -------------Can------------
    -------Hendo------Coutinho--
    ------------Firmino---------
    -------Benteke---Sturridge-----

With Benteke dropping a little deeper and Sturridge running in behind. I like Milner as a super sub to come in and run the other team to death like he did at City. Or if Henderson needs a game off he could start in that midfield role.

Ya I get having a like for like replacement if you're going to use them as competition which each other but instead it seems like we want to play them all at the same time. Last year was a perfect example. We had Coutinho and Sterling who are both natural 10's and then brought in Lallana and Markovic who are also 10's and then tried to play them all at the same time.

Creating our favorite lineups are all fun in all but anything not having Milner in it will never happen. It really will be interesting in what we do when Sturridge comes back. Those lineups look good though.
