Roberto Firmino: Has created more chances from open play (138) than any other player in the Bundesliga in the last 2 seasons #LFC

Only Kevin De Bruyne [74] played more key passes from open play in the Bundesliga last season than Firmino [70].

    Mootaz‏@Mootaz_LFC 56m56 minutes ago
Firmino has been directly involved in 45 goals in his last 66 games in the Bundesliga.

    Jay @Jay82_LFC
@LFCGlobe looks like changes that have happened in the background starting to take effect. Hopefully the start of things to come

@Jay82_LFC Dare I say, it's due to the transfer committee's role being diminished to negotiating first and foremost

    LFC Globe @LFCGlobe
Rodgers has an increased say in signings and the ability to veto transfer committee suggestions. As we understand, all signings to be (1/2)

    LFC Globe @LFCGlobe
made from now on will be on Rodgers' account with sole responsibility. Committee are there to 'guide' and 'support' (2/2)

    LFC Globe @LFCGlobe
TC are still in charge of negotiations and the max. price the club will pay for X player - the only remaining DIRECT influence they have.

I'm in a big wait and see mode right now. I thought we had heard before that the previous signings were people Rodgers wanted, so that doesn't make me feel good.

Seems highly suspect to me that a manager that was all but fired, who had his 2 closest coaches fired would be given carte blanche over transfers. If anything I would think it to be the opposite. Part of the narrative coming up to the FSG/Rodgers meeting was that FSG was going to tell Rodgers to start playing the players they were buying. Its pretty obvious who the Rodgers' guys were last year (Lovren and Lallana in particular) and who he hasn't wanted over the past few years (Sakho, Markovic, Ballotelli).

Yea, I just have no idea what to expect at this point. Someone that is on the verge of getting fired should never get a promotion with having more control/say. I like Firmino, think we paid a bit much, but understand we arent going to get many players cheap with people thinking were getting 50 mil for Sterling.

I talk a lot of shit about FSG but I am just astonished by what they did with Firmino. No leaks through the media, no value buys, no haggling over terms. Identified a target, then went hard after him and got him. Also unlike last year when they missed on Sanchez, they seemingly had back up plans when the deal for Depay fell through. I'm incredibly impressed. If they get Clyne and Bacca this will have been a great window even if they refuse to sign a defensive midfielder and right center back.

Also going to pay more when you are going against other English clubs (rumored) and you cannot offer Champions League like they could. This is why last Summer hurt us so much.

@thisisanfield: Reports from the London Evening Standard suggest that Ian Ayre is in Chile for an extra day, with Carlos Bacca & Salomon Rondon the targets.

Don't know much about Bacca or Rondon. I've heard Bacca may be better but is older. Don't know a ton about eithers play style but heard Bacca is very fast.

After snaring Firmino, Liverpool have renewed their attempt to sign Clyne. An improved offer (£10.5m rising to £12.5m) has gone in.

Regardless of the Sterling situation, if we get Clyne and Bacca this becomes the kind of window we needed last Summer.

Absolutely. After Sanchez fell through last year its like they had no plan on what they wanted to do. It was clear they wanted Lovren, Lallana, and Sanchez and had no other targets. They ended up overpaying for Lovren and Lallana and then had to scramble after Sanchez fell through.

Going to be interesting to see who is outgoing. Pretty obvious Sterling is out but I wonder who else. Have to think Borini is gone, Balotelli probably on loan, good chance Lambert is gone. Then who, Allen? Lucas?

I'd rather have Lucas next season rather than Allen but I think Lucas is the most likely to move on, especially if he gets a decent offer from am Italian side.

Shocked, excited and relieved that we signed firmino. I doubt sterling stays but that didn't stop me from jerking it all day thinking about him, coutino, firmino and sturridge up top.

Was listening to a pod with a guy that covers hoffenheim and basically said he has no faith rodgers will play Firmino where he needs to be played like he did with Can. Said Firmino needs to play the 10 and he could totally flop if he's played out wide like rodgers did to Sterling

To me there's no point in looking at highlights until we know what that brendan will play him in his natural position and not kill his potential

Same shit happened with markovic last year...he was at wingback for fuck sake

I saw that we were also linked with Volland from Hoffenheim which is intriguing. He plays on the German U-21 team with Can. He's only 22 so maybe he'd be a good back up option for Sturridge. From what I've read he's not a true #9 but might be a player that develops into one.

Barrett - I still think #Benteke will sign for #LFC. He's their number one target. Rodgers feels he can build an attack around him.

I don't think he's nearly as bad as everyone else is saying. He is physically unplayable when he is on his game. He has been out of form though.

We do need an aerial threat though which he would give. I don't think we scored on one corner last year other than Gerrard. Our CB's get to the ball but are inept at putting it on target.

He is better with his feet that Carroll, honestly a more apt comparison might be Rickie Lambert.

I mean we were starting Lambert....Benteke is an obvious upgrade but an overpriced one

The money might be better spent on Bacca but I'll take Benteke over sticking with Lambert/Balo/Borini

With Southampton as their main target man, Lambert scored 15 goals in 38 games 2012-2013 and 13 goals in 37 games 2013-2014 (and put in double digit assists over that time period). Benteke scored 10 (in 26) and 13 (in 29) his last 2 years in the league. Lambert didn't fit our system, Benteke isn't going to fit our system.
