We weren't finishing top 4 regardless of if we signed Teixeria or not. Glad we saved the money. Just better make up for it in the summer.
I'm telling myself 7 points from the next 3 matches will keep a little hope alive for the top 4. He's been a great servant to the club but I feel like all of the "midfield pairings" that we have hated over the past few years have had one specific player that is always included in said pair...

They need 4 first 11 players. A goaltender, a center back, a central midfielder, a pacey attacking wide player, and a striker or goal scoring midfielder of Firmino is going to play the false 9 role.
We do need cover but he's fine. He does a lot well and no team has a perfect starting 11. He has to get so far up the field all the time because our midfield is such dogshit and can't get forward

Agreed. For our long list of players who screw up a lot, I feel like I have the most positive memories of his play. 2nd is probably Can. Lovren is last.
You really have nothing to lose by trying out some of the younger players down the stretch. If you are being honest with yourselves, top 4 isn't going to happen bar an absolute miracle. Focus on trying to win Europa while seeing exactly what you have to work with from the academy.
I don't know what Moreno does well. He is a terrible defender and going forward he makes the wrong pass or shoots into the 30th row.
We just played the young guys 2 days earlier in the FA cup. We will see what he does the week we play Augsberg.
He was the main force driving us forward today. Our entire attack came down the left side and it was usually him dribbling it. He probably won 4 corners on his own
He was pretty clear all week that this game would decide what path they take from here on out. We shall see.
1. There was no "force" in our attack 2. He can dribble it down there your right. Pace is his only attribute. But once he get there he shoots it over the stadium, makes the wrong pass, or gets it intercepted and we get caught on the break. Coutinho is the only player on this team that can create anything.
The last I checked in pretty sure Moreno lead the team in chances created and was 2nd or 3rd behind Firmino in clear cut chances created
Moreno is only 23. Even if he's not "perfect" defensively he offers enough all around to not give up on him. Only guys that should definitely be gone are skrtel, Lovren, toure, Lucas, Lallana, and Milner. All over 25 and I'm not seeing the value of keeping them.
