i believe additional ones are coming out, and if they're this good, then im all for it. what is your definition of "right out of the gate"?
he is. said 4 more. i havent watched the previous movies, but now plan on it. this movie is a holy grail for me. i dont know how they could expand off it without tainting Fury Road, but i suppose that is what the movie did to the ones prior
Also, the dynamic the Max and Furiosa build is fantastic Spoiler Max and his short term actions vs. Furiosa and her long term sights Max wants to get out and escape the bad situations. Filing of the chains, ripping his mask off, fighting off enemies, getting the truck to function And Furiosa with her constant striving to reach the green, or oasis at the end of the day. When Max was attempting to shoot out the spotlight on the Bullet Farmers car and hands to gun over to Furiosa to get the job done, because he knows what she can do with it, acting as her tripod to achieve the goal. Max consistently stuck to the short range weapons and pure brawling approach. Just fantastic interplay between the two characters Amazing seeing women getting killed in action roles as well. Not only that, but even though the characters dressed the same and looked the same, it was easy to distinguish between them (e.g. elderly women) during the intense, fast moving action scenes. Fresh view of women not being damsels in distress or untouchable. Even with Nux, they're real characters put in bad situations.
Hard to see them topping this. Would like to see them stick with this society but that hasn't been Max's style.
I'm really not...I loved it, but they added crap for the sake of Hollywood and drama. Kinda like the new planet of the apes...they're great in their own right, but when it boils down to it they just can't capture the magic of the original. If you think Fury Road destroys Road Warrior you do not love Road Warrior.
Fuck comparing this to the originals. I personally haven't seen the originals and if you see this movie with an open mind like that it's mind-blowing. Best action movie in years
Dude, there's soooooo much more shit from the road warrior you could nitpick about than fury road with the way you're reviewing it.
Sure there is plenty of hokey nitpicking you can do about the old ones and I'm really not trying to hate on Fury Road since there was so much I loved about it...I just think a more minimalist approach to the story would've made it absolutely perfect
Road Warrior was also really good. Boomerang scene was a tad silly. Reminded me of this....but not nearly as ridiculous.
Saw it last night. I've seen RW about 10 times, Thunderdome just a few less, and MM1 just twice. That being said, I'd say it goes: Road Warrior Fury Road (Close second, but may change with repeat viewings) Mad Max Thunderdome
I don't want to read the thread because of spoilers, so if this has been addressed 1000x I apologize in advance, but should I watch the first three movies before I watch Fury Road? I already own them so don't have to buy them or anything.
Just got home from the movie, it was like I was there in the hot wasteland with Max... Because the fucking AC went out in the theatre. Great movie though.
Yep, it was a very subtle 3D if that makes sense but still intense. Some 3D movies try way too hard with pointless shit flying around, none of that with Fury Road.
Is there any form of Thunderdome in this film? Asking for a friend. But also for me. Mostly for me. I want to know.
Spoiler They never say directly; I imagine that she had to do some pretty awful shit for Joe to get to a position where she controlled a War Rig, so it's probably related to it. I like that it's left unsaid, tbh.
T minus 2 hours until viewing. Watched all 3 of the previous movies this weekend with the gf so I didn't have to explain what was going on the whole damn time.
Spoiler what's up with using Max as a "blood bag"? In Road Warrior the gangs put people on front of cars and used them as shields, but they didn't have a IV connected to them. As far as the silver spray paint, I'm guessing that was some kind of adrenaline shot?
Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Pretty sure the War Boys have radiation poisoning and the new blood gives them energy.
Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler half life Poisoned blood. During the tattoo scene, it's tattooed on Max's back that he's a universal donor. Max's blood is pure, hence being a blood bag. Max is a savior. The Warboys' dream is to die with honor, “shiny and chrome,” like an exploding machine. Shiny and chrome for Valhalla. Hence Witness Me. Also, it looked as though Splendid went between the wheels. The following mental snap that Max has before being asked if he saw her go under or between has me thinking that after lying about her being run over, it's either the last time he chooses to run and allow others to die (see Splendid; I got the impression that he was conflicted as to lie and run or tell the truth and turn around) or it's his choice to lie to save as many of the others as possible (wanting to turn around to save her, but realizing he will jeopardize others in doing so).
