I only noticed it once, think it was when they were in the desert at night and she offered him one of the motorcycles
Spoiler i watched in 2d and fucking hated this part. it was the only time in the movie where i was taken out of the film. it felt like a bunch of movie execs saying "hey add some 3d shit in" and they throw the guitar right out at the audience and then the steering wheel. maybe it felt and looked better in 3d, but in 2d it was so blatantly obvious why it was there that i couldn't help but hate that they added that second or two of film into the movie.[/soiler] ALL OF THAT SAID: 11/10 would watch again. great movie.
Yeah, Jurassic World looks fucking awful ... CGI galore, Raptor whispering, hybrid Dino plot line ... Woof
Like I said earlier ITT, I hope this movie makes a ton of money. Nothing gets Hollywood into copycat mode like a huge hit, and we need more movies with this level of dedication to practical effects.
Well Hardy has already signed on for a few more, and 150m budget is relatively cheap for this level of a production. Also, John Wick has helped as well. I hope more studios are willing to invest in talent that is dedicated to practical effects and stunts.
George Miller@GMillerMax Hello Twitter! Thanks for all the kind words written and said about the film. We had a lot of fun making it..and there's more Max to come.
150 million is not cheap especially it only made 45 million this week. . I know they made 100 million overseas but they only get a certain percentage overseas. I know for China it is only 25 percent or was. The 150 is not counting marketing
Sucks they opened against that PP2 shit. And still competing against Ultron which is only in it's 3rd week.
Word of mouth will carry this movie. It'll be a big hit. Also, Junkie XL is doing the next Batman movie score.
I can't imagine the rush of being on those what I assume were some form of a vault pole atop those insanely fast cars.
150 is rather inexpensive considering the time it took to make it, with all the numerous issues and such. Hell, I want to see a full "making of" documentary film about this movie. It would be incredible.
True, they will probably make sequel. Hell WB added money to the budget because they liked what they saw. They will probably have him direct a DC movie though since he was in Canada with Ayer and the Suicide Squad production team.
Mad Max is not only better than Ultron, it took Ultron out for a seafood dinner before fucking Ultron and not calling back. One of the best action movies I've seen in a long time. Highly fucking entertaining.
I agree with this. This was something I was going to watch at home, started hearing critics rave at first, then the first wave of the thursday/friday nighters and by saturday I decided to go. Told my roommate and anybody else to go see it.
Think it was one of the best, if not the best, Action movie I've seen since The Raid a few years ago. Overall, it's sitting nicely in my highly respected Way-Too-Early Top 5 for the year as we enter summer. I hate 3D, but the 3D in this was flawless. I'd go with a 9/10 and will probably see again in theaters after catching Pitch Perfect 2 like the middle school girl that I am.
A Fifth "Mad Max" Gets A Title email to a friend By Garth FranklinMonday May 18th 2015 02:03PM A few weeks ago filmmaker George Miller was reluctant to speak about further adventures in his "Mad Max" film series, but all the stunning reviews and healthy box-office for "Mad Max: Fury Road" seems to have changed the Australian filmmaker's tune. Whilst nothing has been announced regarding a fifth entry in the series, Miller revealed to The Q&A Podcast this week that he already has an idea for a title: "Mad Max: The Wasteland". Several years ago, Miller reportedly had a direct follow-up to 'Fury Road' in mind that would be called 'Furiosa' and would likely have centered on Charlize Theron's character. Today though it sounds like he has other ideas - specifically 'Fury Road' is now being pegged as the first of a trilogy, and star Tom Hardy has signed on to reprise the character several more times. Asked about how the follow-ups are progressing, Miller says: "We've got one screenplay and a novella. It happened because with the delays [on 'Fury Road'], and writing all the backstories, they just expanded." Miller has also gone into detail about the film's long and troubled history of getting to the screen, a feat that has taken almost two decades. He has confirmed that at one point Heath Ledger was under serious consideration for the Max role. Speaking of 'Max', the Alamo Drafthouse has released a new PSA about turning off cell phones in the cinema. Both Miller and actor Hugh Keays-Byrne, who plays the villain Toecutter in the first "Mad Max" and the main villain Immortan Joe in the new 'Fury Road', are involved in the piece which you can see below:
Max is our enigma; the window we see his world through. Furiosa's character was great and has come to a rest. You have an endless world of possibilities through Max. Miller, at one point when planning Fury Road, had some 3500 storyboards plotted out for Max's universe.
I wonder if moving away from Furiosa is party due to the fact Hardy and Theron despise each other IRL.
Just got back. So awesome. So happy it's doing well. It seems like every now and then we get a Rated R action movie that we deserve and this is most definitely it.
Hardy is sort of like DDL in that he takes method acting to an extreme level; he won't break character even between takes, so when people tried to converse with him between takes or whatever, he's still playing Mad Max and being a weirdo loner. Apparently it drove Theron up the wall and he had a fight with the Shia when they did a movie a few years back.
The movie really really made me want to play Borderlands again. I feel like Borderlands has Mr. Miller to thank for at least some of its success.
I got the feeling from the interview that they were at each other's throats during the filming, but it seemed like they had a lot of respect for each other and were fine moving forward. Maybe I didn't read enough interviews. Finally seeing it tonight at 545 :bartscottcan'twait:
Saw it last night in 2D, absolutely incredible. I'm pretty sure I held my breath for long stretches of the movie. Perfect blend of action, B-movie schlock, and surprisingly good character-driven moments (except for the few crap ones that were mentioned here). Can't wait to see it again. Oh, and I'm in love with Elvis' granddaughter. Spoiler
Watched the original 1979 Mad Max last night... Holy shit that sucked. I forgot how bad it was. However, I started Mad Max 2 and that seems to be a much, much better flick.
