I hope to God you didn't waste time watching that massive steaming pile of shit that was Mad Max 1. Read the wiki page about it, you'll learn more than you will by watching that disaster. I'm not being melodramatic, because there is nothing other than a waste of 90 minutes of effort to gain by watching Mad Max 1. Watch Mad Max 2, and then you're good to go.
Feel bad for you, because I made the mistake of wasting 90 minutes of my own life watching the first one as well. I guess movies that get passes for being shitty simply because they're old/get incredibly irrational nostalgia points aren't my thing.... It seems irrational to allow for shittiness due to relative expectations of the time period. I'm a big fan of story telling and character development, that movie was beyond shitty at both. Not for me. It has nothing to do with budget, either, I'm big on many, many film festival and low-budget indie flicks... As long as they can tell some sort of cohesive story and develop characters.
Saw it last night. I thought it was phenomenal. It may have been the most entertaining movie I've ever seen. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
the wife really enjoyed it, someone earlier itt said that women wouldn't like it. i don't think that is the case. kinda feminist movie
I am completely confused by the universal praise for this movie. It's above average, that's it. It's like The Hurt Locker all over again.
Hurt Locker was being praised as some dramatic character driven film about being a type of adrenaline junkie. It didn't deliver on a lot of promises. Mad Max is being praised for being a high octane adrenaline inducing action flick from start to finish. It delivered in every conceivable way.
Hold on, guys. Before we jump down his throat, let him talk. Give him the chance to explain why his opinion is wrong.
Such a weird movie. Tons of action. But so bonkers to me. I've never seen the original few... so I mean.
Saw it again in 2D. Still great but the Imax 3D was just a different level, like watching hockey on TV vs the game. Theater was much fuller tonight than last Friday which made me happy, hope it makes a shit load of money.
Spoiler the lizard at the beginning of the movie that Max smashed and ate had two heads. Spoiler Just heard this, didn't notice in the movie. Damn radiation
Saw it earlier tonight. I haven't seen the originals and had no real desire to see this one when the first trailer came out because I didn't get it. Then the reviews came out and were ridiculously good and I was intrigued. Then people I know said it was great and I finally decided I would see it. Absolutely loved it. Just two hours of ridiculous fun. And the plot was actually engaging, as were the characters. Can't wait to see it again.
I want to go see this movie again. SIAP but Riley Keough, the red head breeder, is the eldest granddaughter of Elvis Presley. She's Lisa Marie's daughter. And goddamn Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is hot.
http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=mad_max_hell_yeah Every time I read something from Maddox I'm hit with some serious high school nostalgia.
Def gonna check it out again this weekend. Last time I went the A/C in the theater was out so I was a bit miserable and had to pee about 75% of the way through.
Just saw it today...amazing. I loved how obsessed Joe was with having a perfect baby, because he didn't want to die and leave Master Blaster 2.0 in charge. Also, love the War Boys and their mythology.
Just got back from a second viewing....this time in 2D. Just holy fuck. I don't think I've ever had my mind blown that much by a movie in my life. Read this in a review, but people will be saying "But was it as good as Fury Road?" for the next 10 years. Revolutionary, engrossing, badass, and beautiful all in 2 hours.
Miller wanted it released in black and white (similar to The Mist director) but understood it was from a bygone era. He instead used vibrant and saturated colors to make the imagery stand out more from the bleak landscape. Fingers crossed the blu-ray has the B&W version.
That's strange...the one genre that doesn't seem like it would translate well into black and white is an action film set in an apocalyptic wasteland.
I would welcome a B&W version in the DVD. I am very, very thankful to dear lord baby jesus the original Fury Roady isn't B&W
Team color. The B&W trailer didn't look terrible, but one of my favorite parts of the movie was the cinematography and how they used the contrasting colors in different scenes. That storm scene near the beginning was probably my favorite scene in the entire movie. Wouldn't have looked nearly as incredible without color.
Finally going to see it tonight at 10. I'm visiting family right now so I won't be able to watch in imax or 3D or whatever. Hopefully that doesn't ruin the experience.
Was prepared to be a little disappointed since you guys and everyone else have been hyping it up so much. But that wasn't the case at all. It was even better than I was expecting. 100% pure awesomeness from start to finish.
Kinda surprised to see it hasn't reached profit yet. Edit: someone mentioned it earlier in the thread but I forgot it's rated R, so that probably explains it.
Going to see Fury Road tonight. Pumped. Is there an American Sniper thread? Watched it the other night and would love to talk about how it was the most overrated movie to come along in years.
It was over hyped for sure but it was still a good movie IMO. And if you talk to folks that deployed over there, many of them appreciated the way the film showed how they can struggle to adjust when they come back home. But that's a different topic and thread.
May have to hit the film solo. Can't find someone to watch the kids so wife can't go. I'm good with that
