Sterling does not score the prettiest of Goals, but his speed and runs can cause havocs and he gets a ton of hard working goals.
My point is I don't think it is luck, he gets in the right spots a ton and a lot of it is his speed imo. He can get to those spots quickly before defenders do.
Deflections and a ball that just gets kicked into his chest that goes into goal isn’t luck? Ok. I gave him credit for getting into good spots which is part of it but saying there’s no luck is dumb
Down goes the best stat in City history. 1st away league win after trailing at halftime since April of 1995.
Today goal was clearly not on purpose but he was in the right spot, which I give him some credit for. He also got us our penalty because he was about to run by a defender who grabbed him. You don't score 11 or 12 goals in about 15 games or whatever he has played this year by being lucky
As if that couldnt get any better; Parra was sent off after hands to face on Sane right after the final whistle. Headline tomorrow: City squeeze by 10 man Huddersfield.
No one is saying they’re all luck. He’s done well but it’s not worth having a discussion if you can’t even acknowledge that he’s been lucky this season and has a few extra because of that. Not that I’m surprised
My original post was that his speed can cause havoc and he gets hard working goals. And I did admit his goal today was luck, but I gave him credit for still being in the right spot. I guess I don't get what the discussion is. Do you disagree with that?
I just thought he’s had a handful of lucky goals this year but he does cause trouble and gets into good spots to help create that luck. He’s good, I just get frustrated with his finishing at times that isn’t a tap in created by someone else or deflection.
I don't think Sterling would be a star on his own if he was the key to an attack but I think he works in great here with all the talent around him who can score and who can play great passes, he can use his speed to get into position for tap ins and it gives the defense something else to worry about.
What a douche... And lets not forget Kompany has missed most of season, Stones is out now, Aguero was out a few weeks and Mendy has been out basically all season. City has been better dealing with injuries than United have.
Thanks. I want in but won’t complain if we don’t get in and not sure how we will do if we do get in. We could win it all if we turn it on or we could lose 31-0 again
Options so far for R16: Basel, Bayern, Juventus, Real Madrid Can’t get: Chelsea, Possibly Liverpool if they don’t win the group, runner up from our group Possible still: Sevilla if Pool win the group, RB Leipzig or Porto
they're giving away a signed sane jersey at halftime for anyone that shares the stream rachel said "we'll slide into your dm's if you win" and someone said "man i really hope rebecca slides into my dm's". she immediately told him "you're eliminated from consideration"
I don’t know why I read other places. In a City fan group on Facebook and I don’t understand the thought process of “I want Real or Bayern next round, bring them on, to be the best you’ve got to beat the best, we can’t be afraid of anyone” or “have to beat them eventually, might as well get it out of the way”. I don’t understand what the rationale is. Why is the toughest path possible the best path? Would it be more satisfying to win the UCL (hope we do, that would be incredible) by beating Real, Bayern, Barcelona and United (Not among the 4 best but it would be incredible)? Probably, but it would be incredibly satisfying to win it by playing Basel, Besiktas, Porto and Shakhtar too
we could beat a team made up of tmb posters in the final and it wouldn’t cheapen a champions league title one iota for me
Also guys, I take responsibility for the loss today. When Tobias and I were texting over the weekend his last response was “Will we ever lose? I don’t see it”. I never responded. I take it on my shoulders. My bad.
Chelsea lost to West Ham. Win tomorrow puts us 11 up on United and 14 up on 3rd place (Liverpool can pull even with Chelsea). Draw keeps 8 up on United with 12 up on 3rd.
