Excellent points, but I think at some point boredom kicks in and human nature would be to push the envelope further and further. Perhaps not ruling a nation, but further than he takes it. Honestly he is powered in such a way that it becomes hard to do much with him, much like Molecule Man, he is just too powerful to do much with. Though there is something that bothered me in the EMH episode , why does his power work on Thor? He's not human and goes into space with no breathing apparatus, leading one to think he doesn't need to breathe. Not to mention he presumably had a different brain than a human.

Throughout my youth I thought Sabertooth... Was a really furry guy and the big fluff of hair around his neck was natural. I didn't realize until years later that he's wearing a ridiculous costume... And when I say years later I mean 2009, when I saw Liev Schreiber in X-Men origins and I googled why he didn't have all the fur. Very stupid moment for me.
I wonder where they're going to put Dr Strange as far as the timeline goes. The movie looks to be his origin story but in winter soldier that hydra guy says Stephen Strange and Bruce Banner were their main threats. I'm guessing they'll just act like that little Easter egg never happened.
