The most interesting part of this news is that some part of the movie takes place on Earth in the present time.
I think I missed that the girl is Jean Grey. I also need a reminder of what the hell the end of DOFP means to the timeline.
I haven't followed it this closely, but was that really a surprise to see wolverine? I just assumed he was going to be one of the major stars in this movie. Liked the trailer, but at this point, it's just barely on my radar with civil war coming in a couple weeks.
I feel like there's no timeline with xmen. It's like they just decide to make a movie with the current people playing their roles. I think MCU has set the bar so high for us on tying movies together that everything else is going to feel poorly done.
Yeah actually it was. He wasn't reported as filming the movie, and certainly wasn't promoted in it (until now). I think most thought we'd get a cameo, ala First Class, but not any significant role. So either his part expanded late in production or Fox is just pushing his small role (which they didn't do with First Class) because they're worried about getting people to the Box Office. There's definitely a timeline. Kinberg and Singer have both talked about how everything lines up. It's just such a convoluted mess that it can't be easily followed, unlike in the MCU where everything is straight forward.
in the comics Spider-Man is stronger than Hulk. He pulls his punches so as not to kill people. Cap can lift a ton. Spider-Man can lift like 10 tons. Dude is massively powered.
Never heard that before. I knew he was strong but I thought in the mcu that Hulk is the strongest due to him never really maxing out his strength the madder he gets.
/The more you know And he absolutely is pulling punches. Doc Ock took over his body a while back and almost killed The Lizard because he didn't realize how strong Spider-Man was. He was kind of shocked that he had been holding back so as not to kill everyone he fought.
Yeah I was speaking of the comics. It hasn't yet been disclosed how strong this Spider-Man is. The MCU has kind of nerfed the strength of several heroes, so it wouldn't surprise me if they do that with Parker. On the other hand, he caught Bucky's metal arm like it was nothing and toyed with it too. He's strong.
Is Hulk not that way in the comic universe as well? I always thought in terms of strength, outside of the deities, that Hulk was the strongest. I've read Hulk comics but never really got into Spider-Man.
In a fight I don't think Hulk would ever be able to even land a punch on Spiderman. He's too fast and agile even without the webs.
A lot of it is subjective and depending on what universe you're in and who the writer is the strength of certain characters can vary wildly. It's like who is the strongest mutant? A case could be made for Magneto or Jean/Phoenix, but then you've got a guy like Deadpool that basically can't be killed at all.
Stan Lee had an interview on youtube and basically said he gets asked all the time, "who would win, Hulk or the Thing, Spidey or Thor, etc." and the answer always is, "whoever the writer of that issue wants to win."
I'm still holding onto some glimmer of hope that we get a planet hulk and wwh, but I doubt it. Maybe something happens in the Infinity Wars and it happens after that but I don't think they'd go with that when they're haveing to start fresh.
blanked out Hulk is pretty much as close as a "human" can get to cosmic tier brute strength, but it takes extra assistance for Hulk to reach that mental state, normal Hulk/Banner can't get there. see the Onslaught Saga (still my pipe dream for a big screen movie, but the amount of characters that would need to be involved would make Infinity Wars blush)
True, but can that jet he took off in go into space to another planet? Would be interesting if he comes back for the infinity war full out Planet Hulk armor and whatnot. I'd cum.
I think it's rumored due to Ruffalo's comments during interviews. No clue, but my question still remains is how does he get there in that jet if that's his mode of transportation. Whatever gets him to a Planet Hulk scenario I'm all for.
This isn't true at all, I agree that he's pulling punches but being stronger than the Hulk is a completely different story.
There's nothing to buy. It is what it is. But like I said, it changes depending on the universe or the writer. The point was, Spidey is way stronger than most think. He's not just a teenager who can climb walls and jizz from his wrists.
"If I ever decide to become a crime-fighting shit swizzler, who rooms with a bunch of other little whiners at Neverland Mansion with some creepy, old, bald, Heaven's Gate-looking motherfucker... on that day, I'll send your shiny, happy ass a friend request!"
What is that picture? Whose place? Also, are any of you familiar with The Beyonder? I am not a comic book reader at all, but my parents got me the Beyonder set when I was like in fourth grade in the 80s. That's the only thing I remember in terms of comics from my youth. He was basically a God from another dimension or something and could appear human or turn into this thing that was basically a walking skyscraper giant. I think he gave Spiderman the black suit at some point.
The original Beyonder was basically an equal to the Living Tribunal (2nd most powerful in the Marvel Universe behind the One Above All). He's been retconned to not be as powerful.
nowhere in that example does it say Spidey is stronger than Hulk. Spidey could beat Hulk just like Batman can beat Superman or take down the entire JLA single handily - he is much, much smarter
