Of course he was going to rebuild his tower. What else was he going to do? Leave a huge skyscraper devoted to his company a smoldering wreck in the middle of NYC? At the end of Avengers it just so happened the only letter left working was the letter A in STARK. If he was walking away from the armor, why would he make his skyscraper Avengers HQ? So, like I said, he destroys everything he owns that is related to being a superhero to show he is devoted solely to his life with Pepper, and then proceeds, with no explanation, make a bunch more suits, devote his entire building to his superhero team, and fly around doing superhero things. How is that not Whedon completely ignoring IM3?
I don't get all the hate for CA 1. It's great origin story for Cap, but also gives us the introduction of HYDRA, alien tech, SHIELD, etc.
My 5-year-old LOVES Iron Man. I took him to see Iron Man 3 when he was 4. We had to walk out after the first hour because he was so bored.
See I thought the bright colors of the vehicles, the wardrobes, the over the top car for Red Skull, the big bomber with the piloted bombers, all of that was awesome. That's what made it feel like a comic book jumping off the pages and on to the big screen for me. A 1940s cap story might the only place they could have pulled that off. Once we get into present time, it's all SUVs and over the top (but believable looking) technology.
Yeah it was designed to look and feel like a 1940s propaganda film. While CA1 isn't my favorite MCU flick, I thought they succeeded in creating a stylized period film apart from the glossy modern story arc.
I really liked Ant-Man. Had no idea what to expect, but ended up loving it. My 10 year old son watches the Avengers cartoons on Disney channel so he knows more than I do about certain story lines and he really liked it. He liked that Falcon was in it because he says they are pals in the cartoon. He was really excited for Wasp.
Even the WW2 stuff weren't designs they completely pulled out of their asses. The car was based off of a Mercedes-Benz from that time...possibly some Deusenberg designs too, and then the 2 back wheels added, etc. Same with the Flying Wing at the end...those were developed in late ww2, but obvs. not that huge or with extra flying planes. Had to differentiate it from the Indiana Jones one though.
Same guy directed The Rocketeer, so there was some good experience in creating the style and feel to it
They also never broach the subject of what's powering the suits. Tony has the reactor in his chest removed. Whedon doesn't bother explaining that Tony's building an arc reactor into each suit now, to power it, he just pretends like it's not a subject worth discussing. Never see Tony without his shirt on, or even a thin shirt that you'd be able to see the reactor through, like much of the first 2 movies.
Not at all. But it never even gets mentioned. We assume that's what's happening, and Whedon is happy to let us assume, because he doesn't even want to discuss the reason Tony would have to do it.
When Ant-Man concluded I had two thoughts, (1) civil war is going to be amazing and (2) will infinity war be the greatest superhero flicks ever made when you consider both the storyline and the sheer amount of great characters likely to be in it.
It will take a lot of careful balancing to give everyone a moment in the sun, while keeping the story moving forward. The later X-Men movies really struggled with this, but I have faith in the Russos
Anyone else nostalgia a bit when seeing younger Michael Douglas? Was taken back to the days of Wall Street, Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct. Then immediately thought of back in the day Sharon Stone and Glenn Close and got distracted for a moment.
I think I'm more attracted to her than ScarJo. Unless we're still pretending that Green Lantern isn't part of the MCU, which is fine, she's the hottest woman in the MCU, to me. Edit: Shit, I forgot about Portman in Thor.
It was solid. I really didnt like some of the setup of the movie. I did enjoy the 3rd act. He showed his face a little too much for me.
Peyton Reed On 'Ant-Man' Becoming 'Giant Man'... Possibly In CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR When Peyton Reed sat down recently with Screen Junkies, the Ant-Man director was asked if/when we might see Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) or even Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) take on the Giant-Man form which both characters have done in Marvel Comics. “Listen, I think with Hank Pym and Scott Lang, and with that technology, I think it’s safe to say at some point somewhere you’re going to see some real growth...,” said Reed, pausing to look at the camera before continuing, “...for that character. I hedge my bet there, because it could be sort of growth as a human being, emotional growth, or literal giant growth. There’s a good chance of that.” Well played Mr. Reed, well played. While Ant-Man introduced how the Pym Particles technology can shrink people (as well as objects) and enlarge them back to their original sizes, it's rumored that Scott Lang will reach new heights (specifically about 15-20 feet tall) when he returns in Captain America: Civil War. And if true, which it likely is judging by Peyton Reed's sly response and the rumor's source, Giant-Man will certainly be visually unique for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Not digging the Iron Man hating in this thread. Going to see Ant Man tomorrow with my 5 and 6 year old.
She's definitely going to be in the sequel. Hank said time passes differently when you are that small, so she'll still be young. There's a reason they covered up her face in the photo. So Michael Douglas' Hank Pym will end up romantically involved with a woman 40 years his junior. Pretty much the perfect role for him.
Cap will prob have his new avengers (vision, SW, falcon, widow), Hawkeye, possibly ant-man, guessing winter soldier too Stark will prob have Rhodes "war machine", maybe Hulk Unknowns are black panther and spider-man But in reality it's hard to say how each specific character will react to a registration act. I could easily see someone like SW being for it in cinematic universe.
I agree Banner will be Pro, after all the destruction he caused when he lost it in A2. I could also see them having Hawkeye throw in with Stark. He and Widow are tight. Putting them on opposite sides would add some good material. I have no clue on SW. I could see her Pro because of how her family died, but she's tighter with Steve's group (I assume after the end of A2). Black Panther will play the Spider-Man man role in starting with Stark and flipping sides, IMO. Spider-Man is a cameo. I'd also guess "Registration" from the comics will be replaced with some type of world organization enhanced people are required to answer to.
the accords were mentioned in ant man i imagine that's how it starts, with the events of the other movies leading to the SRA instead of the New Warriors Stamford Incident that kicked off Civil War
i never read the comics. why would black widow be in favor of registration? she's 1. not a super powered person, just a human and 2. a spy. why would she want her name out there? and i agree that hawkeye will want to be against registration to keep his family safe (otherwise i don't get why Avengers 2 focused on that aspect of his life so much).
