While it may be odd to see him go, it's hard for other teams to take him. Long history and big contract.

Plus he still gets booed at every away park.

All of his no trade clause exemptions are west coast teams plus the Marlins.

Need the Angels to get their crap together in their farm system, and pay down more of that Hamilton/Pujols money. Then in 2019 they can trade for him in the last two years when they have something worthwhile to send back.

I guess our hopes are that Isan Diaz is worth a shit, because hill and Anderson sure aren't. I don't even care about Seguras production this year because we all wanted to move on. Plus with the shit he's gone through a change of scenery might have been needed.

On the flip side, Houston is not getting much of a return on the Gomez/Fiers deal. It's a shame because Gomez is one of my favorite players hopefully he gets the bat going again.

I legitimately don't care for any pitcher outside of Nelson.

If you are a 27th round pick but considering law school, maybe you should be open to more options than just Harvard Law or bust.

    http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/sunday-notes-brewers-perrin-padres-allen-iggy-indians-more/

JFC I have starting offensive lineman at ND quitting to work on capital hill, Raji retiring to just chill, and now AA prospects eyeing law school. Wish my teams would start recruiting/drafting the dumb ones with no other options in life.

I saw that and I guess its pretty good but we really should be aiming a lot higher. We have one of the highest allotments of money with our terrible record last year and we have a much smaller than usual major league payroll. Lara was a big signing and I was hoping to see some more high profile guys.

I thought the same thing. My only other thought was, well how accurate are such rankings when we are talking about 16 year olds. I dont follow that closely enough to know whether the absolute top guys have a higher correlation for success. If it is anything like college football recruiting though usually the top 5 or so are pretty consensus, and then 5-30 can be in any order. We should be aiming for one of those top guys if that is the case. Two years ago when the system had no depth I could see the other route.

By the way most of the "rumored" trades for Braun have been a complete joke. I think it was Cameron that suggested Rusney Castillo and Blake Swihart from the Red Sox. That might work for Wily Peralta if the Red Sox paid the Castillo contract but suggesting it as a return for Braun is so stupid.

This team has no big contracts other than Braun and Garza yet the national media keeps suggesting we trade Braun for 5 cents on the dollar. No way we are trading arguably the best hitter in franchise history for a load of garbage and I am tired of reading these nonsense rumors.

Yeah if you look at the contracts given out in free agency Braun is a bargain. Last year was a down year for him, but what would an outfielder that hit 25 bombs, .850 OPS, and 24 steals have gotten in free agency?

Brewers farm system update from reddit

    Some Highlights from Week 5

Colorado Springs (11-17) Last in PCL American North

Magnifico picked up two saves (although he blew one as well) and continues to be strong in the late innings for the Sky Sox.

Jorge Lopez and Michael Reed continued their slumps. Lopez has a 8.84 ERA and is simply continuing to walk too many batters to be effective. Reed went 3 for 21, striking out 7 times.

Biloxi Shuckers (18-11) 1st in Southern League South

Phillips had a killer week thanks to a 3HR game on Friday. 7 for 26, 7 Runs, 4HR, 8RBI. I'd like to see his strikeout numbers come down a bit, though. Hader pitched decently in his first loss of the season. 5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, while striking out 8. Finally it looks like Nottingham's bat is starting to wake up - 6 for 19, but only one for extra bases.

Taylor with an awful week - 1 for 22 while striking out 8 times. Houser got roughed up in his worst start of the season, but he did strike out 9 batters. Doesn't really matter when you give up 7 ER in 4 IP, though. Victor Roache was cold after having a hot bat last week. 2 for 15 with 6 strikeouts.

Brevard County Manatees (8-21) 6th in FSL North

Bubba Derby continues to be our bright spot in Florida. He had two strong starts, 11 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 2 ER. 13 Ks to only 1 BB.

Medeiros and Coulter didn't do much to impress this week. Medeiros started and only went 3.2 IP and throwing 88 pitches.Coulter was placed on the 15 day Disable List with an Oblique Strain after being taken out in Thursdays game.

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (14-16) 5th in Midwest League West

Jake Gatewood had an incredible week. 10 for 23, 6 Runs, 3 HR, 11 RBI's. He is still struggling a bit defensively as he adjusts to 3B, hopefully he can continue to work that out this year with the T-Rats. Freddy Peralta had his best start of the season - 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 7K, and 2 BB.

Monte Harrison still hasn't turned on his bat, yet. 1 for 16, but he made the most of his 1 hit - a 3 RBI double.

It's been a rough season so far for most of our prospects. Hopefully things turn around with the warmer weather but the weather is no excuse for how awful Medeiros and Coulter have been.

Until we get a new AAA team we should keep our top prospects like Jorge Lopez in AA. No reason for him to lose confidence pitching in Colorado Springs. Doug Melvin really failed us by getting stuck with that affiliate.

Josh Hader with another solid outing. He went 6 innings and gave up 1 run and struck out 6. His ERA is 1.04 but I hope they are smart and keep him in AA instead of letting him pitch in Colorado Springs.

Buster Olney might be the biggest faggot at espn and that's really saying something. If Braun were a free agent after this season I can guarantee that he would get a lot more money than the Brewers are paying him so this idea that we have to pay part of his contract in order to trade him is absurd. Also if we were to trade him which I am dead set against we better get a lot more than we did for Gomez and Fiers.

For a small market team like the Brewers keeping a star like Robin Yount and hopefully Ryan Braun in a Brewers uniform for their entire career really means something. Olney and the rest of the media can fuck themselves if they think we are giving away Braun for B level prospects and throwing in money in the deal as well.

I really hope the Brewers draft either Jason Groome or Riley Pint with the 5th pick. Groome has been considered the best player in the draft for awhile but their have been rumors of him potentially slipping to our pick and Pint has the 100 mph fastball. I really hope we don't end up drafting an outfielder especially since at least one of Groome and Pint will be available for us.

I hate to see it because I love Gomez but he has been one of the worst players in baseball this year. His OPS is around .500. I really hope he turns around but luckily we traded him before this happened.

Villar could even be a valuable trade chip. The White Sox are getting nothing out of Rollins and are going to win that division.

Yeah I definitely agree with that. I think his OBP is near .400 and he is stealing a ton of bases. The Villar trade and Carter signing were two quiet moves that have paid off and can really help if we trade one or both of them.

Yeah, the White Sox keep battomg Rollins 2 in the lineup and he's been awful. I dont know if it's just because they dont have anyone else they want to put there. Villar can bat 2 in a good lineup (assuming he performs as well as is is now).

Got to love teams putting guys at the top of the lineup just because they can run. I think Hamilton hits second for the Reds even though he never gets on base. As for Villar he walks a ton so he really is a good guy to hit at the top of the lineup.

Stearns has made some quietly good moves since being named GM. The Lind deal even looks decent since one of the guys has pitched well in low A. It should be a very interesting trade deadline for us and I really think we can do really well in deals for Lucroy, Villar, Carter and maybe a few of our relievers.

Eventually some of our former players are going to have to start hitting with their new teams otherwise teams aren't going to want to trade with us. Similar to the Coors Field effect on Rockies offensive numbers.

    Gomez
    Lind
    Fielder

I guess Davis and Segura make up for that

    Some Highlights from Week 6

Colorado Springs (17-18) 4th in PCL American North

Arcia has now hit safely in 9 straight games. Jorge Lopez had his best week of the year. In two starts he pitched 11 innings, 6 hits, 2 ER. Still he walked 7 batters and he'll need to continue to work on his control. Magnifico was great in three outings - 4 IP, 4 hits, 0 ER, 2 BB and 7 K. Barnes pitched well in relief throwing 2 innings with no hits, no ER and only one walk.

Michael Reed will be missing some time after suffering a concussion after colliding with the outfield wall. Also, Yadiel Rivera has not done much since joining the Sky Sox. I'm hoping to see him regain some of his early season confidence.

Biloxi Shuckers (22-14) 1st in Southern League South

Josh Hader pitched 6 more strong innings for Biloxi. He has been incredibly consistent all year long and he is proving he is ready for AAA or higher. Nottingham continues to raise his average, but has only hit singles all week. Victor Roache only had four hits, but three went for extra bases, including 2 HR.

Tyrone Taylor continues what is now a month long slump - 3 for 18, but somehow scored 6 times this week.

Brevard County Manatees (13-24) 6th in FSL North

Medeiros has shown signs of turning his season around. He pitched well twice with 8.2 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, and 10 K. I'm keeping an eye out as he only pitched 2 inning today before being pulled.

Derby pitched once this week and gave up 7 hits and 5 ER in five innings of work. Ponce and Coulter are still recovering from their injuries.

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (17-20) 6th in Midwest League West

It was an exciting week for Wisconsin as we saw Trent Clark and Devin Williams make their Low-A debuts for 2016. Clark was impressive for his OBP, hitting 6 for 23 with 11 walks. Of those six hits, four were doubles. Williams, however, got roughed up in his first start for the T-Rats. Only pitching 3.1 innings giving up 5 hits and 4 ER.

Diplan pitched great again in two outings - 6.2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 11 K. Unfortunately he walked 7 batters as well. Gatewood is still hitting for power, banging two more home runs this week.

Isan Diaz struggled, striking out 12 times and committing 3 defensive errors. Monte Harrison continues to disappoint with another poor week.

I don't like the rumors I have been reading regarding the Brewers 5th overall draft pick. I absolutely hate the idea of picking college outfielder Corey Ray. This team should have either Jason Groome or Riley Pint available and since they are the two best high school arms they should just select one of them.

Would really like to see a front of the rotation starter. I guess the Cubs kept going after bats at the top of the draft when everyone thought they were desperate for pitching, but it helps when you have the best pitcher in baseball fall in your lap for free.
