From Kiley McDaniel in his Fangraphs chat...
Asked an exec if Funkhouser's slide is due to his camp not sending out medicals. "I think it's just because he sucks."

This pick sounds just wonderful. They said he cant throw strikes, was a reliever and that his fastball is 89-91. Yuk.

This Cody Ponce has a weird delivery but he does seem to have a big arm.

they say he needs to develop secondary pitches. I have the utmost confidence that the organization foster his development such that he will maximize that potential.

    I like the pick,

big arm, good release, working on his change up, mid 90's fastball, good low 90's cutter, odd delivery with his legs though

big arm from a small d2 school

2-3 type guy, which we know won't happen

I like that Ponce is a power arm but we all know that this organization is incapable of developing a raw talent like this. Hopefully the next front office will hire better pitching coaches.

So I would love it if the Brewers were able to pile on and play well against one team in the division and be a reason whe they don't make the post season. Losing 5 out of 6 to Pittsburgh in April prob disqualifies them from that though. Cubs are the only hope in that they've won 4 of 6 against them.

    7 I.P., 3H, 5 K, 1 ER, 1 BB.

Low 90s, touched 94 a couple times. Sinker ball pitcher. When he locates his stuff he's gonna be hard to hit - a lot of ground ball outs. Hung one breaking ball about belt high. Marte didn't miss it, resting the ball in the left field bleachers. Jungmann mixed up his pitchers effectively. His unorthodox delivery aided in the batters not picking up his stuff. Stumbled with his control in the 2nd inning, otherwise he pitched a good game. He impressed me with his stuff. Slated to pitch Sunday. Potential to be a good #3.

No he really doesn't have the potential to be a good #3. His ERA was over 6 in AAA this year. If we are lucky he will join the stable of #5s in this organization.

You know what I take back my negative comments on Jungmann for now. I am still infuriated that we passed on Sonny Gray to pick him but that isn't his fault. Fuck Melvin and the scouts but hopefully Jungmann at least turns out to be a contributor in some way even if he will never ever match Gray.

...and I'll take back all the times I've said that the Brewers should have Jose Fernandez. I guess he wasn't willing to sign with any other team out of High School but the Marlins and he would have gone to the Canes. So I guess the Brewers should have Gray and Kolton Wong or something along those lines.

I really hope the rumors that the Brewers are unwilling to trade Segura aren't true because it makes no sense. I really hope this team is looking to move more than just the upcoming free agents because they aren't getting anything worthwhile for Lohse, Ramirez and the rest of the scrubs.

Gomez, Segura, and Lucroy are the guys to trade and if they don't move any of them the rebuild will take 5 or more years. Gomez is gone after next season, Segura will be replaced by 2017 by Arcia and Lucroy will have to be paid 15-20 million per year when he is 32 and beyond which we just cant give to a catcher. I will definitely miss both Gomez and Lucroy but trading them is the fastest way to rebuild the organization.

I assume the firesale will start around the break. Let the players get their stock up and demand numerous prospects while pulling in as much attendance as possible.

If they receive an offer that can't be turned down, they'll hopefully ship someon off. I can see Jean being traded sometime soon with Sard as his replacement.

Then again the Brewers management is quite stupid.

I don't have a good feeling about this deadline in regards to the Brewers making any real moves. Seems like they only want to move the upcoming free agents all of whom have little to no value. If reports are true that we wont even listen on Segura and Lucroy we are really doomed.

I guess we could move Gomez and should get at least a decent return but its not enough. If a team offers a lot for Lucroy and Segura we should take it.

At least Doug Melvin seems to be doing very few if any interviews nowadays. I got quite tired of him trying to sell fans on our thriving farm system when everyone outside of Milwaukee knows the system is terrible.

The Brewers claimed Matt Dominguez off waivers and DFA'd Wei Chung Wang. So we kept Wang on the MLB roster all last year just to get rid of him after 2.5 months in the minors the following year. This transaction is a perfect example of what a complete mess this organization is.

With all the garbage we have occupying spots on the 40 man roster what sense does it make to get rid of a LHP with at least some upside. Doug Melvin cant retire fast enough.

So you carry dead weight on a title contender to claim this bum on a losing team.

Dominguez is a perfect Doug Melvin player and was thinking we would claim him when I saw Houston got rid of him. The guy has a very low OBP but can hit the occasional HR. Cant say I care either way since we have tons of dead weight on the 40 man but Wang shouldn't have been dropped.

Wang has pitched terribly this year and he probably has no future but what does this say about our decision makers when we kept him on a contending roster all of last season but now we don't think he is good enough for a spot on our 40 man roster one year later. I want the next GM to come from outside this organization and the guy needs to be able to tell Attanasio to stop meddling with the roster. As much as I dislike Melvin it was Attanasio who was solely responsible for signing Suppan, Lohse, and Garza.

Lohse and Garza aren't the end of the world because all they cost the Brewers was cash. So if Attanasio says here is $60M now go get a pitcher that's his call and really the only one with anything to lose. (Unless you were to argue that raising to mediocrity makes you further away from a championship - which is allowable)

It's the flawed philosophy and the lack of development in the organization that piss me off. It's no wonder the lack of development because low low OBP power guys just dont develop. You see a lot more guys that are good OPB guys develop pop. The roster management gaffe with Wang is just a joke.

We actually gave away our first round draft pick for Lohse. If this team knew how to draft they wouldn't have to sign middling older free agent pitchers. Attanasio seems to have this obsession with "name" players even though these names are old and washed up.

Maybe instead of wasting money on older players we should have spent a few million more in the draft each year when their were no monetary restrictions. Imagine paying Carlos Rodon the extra 500k that he was asking instead of wasting 10 million on someone like Broxton. Attanasio thinks only of todays roster and filling seats and its killed this team. You just know he doesn't want to trade guys like Gomez and Lucroy because he fears that we will sell less tickets. Meanwhile we have no impact talent besides Arcia anywhere near Milwaukee.

You would think that a money management guy like Attanasio would see the bigger picture instead of expecting immediate results but he just doesn't. Unless he changes his ways we are in for a long period of mediocrity at best. Why should we even trust him to hire the next GM when he will probably just hire some failed retread who shares he same dumb philosophies on how to build a team.

I am not sure what to think of him. Moreno was probably responsible for the Hamilton contract so I wouldn't hold that against Dipoto but other than that what has he done there. We need the next GM to have a great scouting eye and I am not sure if Dipoto is that guy.

On the plus side Dipoto believes in sabermetrics and that is why he is feuding with Scioscia who couldn't care less about advanced stats.

Jason McLeod is the guy I would hire as the GM. He is the cubs scouting director and before that he built up the Padres system as their scouting director under Hoyer. I am not sure if he would be willing to compete against his buddies Theo and Jed but I would try to hire him.
