It was a great point in the MLB thread. He wouldn't be back until 2nd half of 2016, innings limit in 2017 and doesn't get to wait until 2018 before you have a real asset.
You heard it here first, he'll be the MVP of the second half. And my MVP I mean helping them lose games.
If Wheeler was healthy I would be happy to get him but he will be lucky to pitch half of 2016 and would only have 3 years of control after that. Flores on the other hand is horrendous.
The fight for a top 5 draft pick has begun and Schafer is our greatest weapon. He should start every day and bat leadoff.
You guys are under selling him. He should slot in for Fiers. With his erratic throwing arm and low 80's fastball coupled with his non existent power and threat to commit an error per game, I really think we could have something great for the back end of the rotation.
We still have a ton of work to do. Would be nice to get an elite pitching prospect and some talent for the corner infield spots. At least it is clear now that we will be trying to rebuild and I hope Montgomery is given the GM job after the stellar job he did in the draft.
We didn't do nearly enough. Got some nice pieces for Gomez and Fiers but we should have moved more guys. So long Doug Melvin and welcome Ray Montgomery hopefully.

I'm sure KRod would clear waivers, so hopefully we get some relievers blow out their arms. I dont think many teams want that contract unless they are desperate.
He's doing what he can with that thumb but just have to hope long term he can play at an all star level. While he played in the asg this year I'm setting the bar higher than that. I love his stroke to right center but I'd like to see him pull it once in a while to show his top hand is healthy. I think that's the one that's hurt isn't it?
Braun is my favorite Brewer and that wont change. I think his thumb injury has kept him from being at his 100% best but he is still our best player by far.
Braun was always good at going the other way but now he rarely pulls the ball at all and that has to be due to his thumb. Hopefully the thumb improves at some point. Its actually really impressive that he can even play this well with that injury.
Lucroy continues to drop hints that he wants to be traded. Hopefully we accommodate him and receive a haul in return.
There was a ranking of farm systems on Bleacher Report and they had the Brewers all the way up to 13. I would link it but it's a slide show.

General manager Doug Melvin traded outfielders Carlos Gomez and Gerardo Parra, right-hander Mike Fiers and infielder Aramis Ramirez to significantly improve his team's future outlook. By packaging Gomez and Fiers together, Melvin was able to acquire arguably the best prospect to change teams in outfielder Brett Phillips (.319, 16 HR, 15 SB). The 21-year-old can do it all and should quickly ease Brewers fans out of the Gomez era. Because of Phillips' elite talent, powerful slugger Domingo Santana (.321, 16 HR) may seem like a throw-in in that deal. But Santana has as much raw power as any player in the minors and could hit 30 homers in the big leagues one day. With elite shortstop prospect Orlando Arcia and first-round pick Trent Clark already in the organization, Milwaukee now has a farm system with multiple impact talents and much more depth than it had before the season.
Tyrone Taylor is easily the most overrated prospect in the system and Michael Reed who was not listed is the most underrated. Reed will easily be a better than Khris Davis.
If we make the right moves starting with the new GM hire we may even contend by then but if Attanasio continues to meddle with personnel moves all bets are off.
The Brewers are below average defensively at every position other than catcher. I hope the next GM knows how to evaluate pitching and defense because the one we have now has no clue.
There is an article on that new BP Milwaukee site about how much the defensive metrics disagree on Segura. Fangraphs thinks he sucks, baseball reference thinks he's average, and Baseball Perspectus thinks he's amazing. Regardless it's been an afterthought for a long time. Remember the years with Braun at third, Weeks, and Fielder? They were all raking at the time but it was a fucking clown show in the field.
Doug Melvin: I don't build my team to win, I build my team to make everyone else lose http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2015/08/09/mlbtv_slnmil_351702283_1200K.mp4 Broxton paying dividends to his former team
Now that Melvin is out who do you guys want to see as the next GM. My top choices in order are Ray Montgomery, Jason McLeod, and Paul DePodesta.
Is Jungman capable of throwing a first pitch strike in an AB? The few times I've watched him suggest he is not.
A couple of things to consider with the GM search. If we don't promote Montgomery he may leave the organization altogether either on his own or because the new GM may want his own guy. The next GM won't get to pick his manager so to put his stamp on things he may revamp the scouting department and fire Montgomery even though he did a great job in his first draft. I keep reading that ownership wants an analytics guy as the next GM. I think we need the next GM to have a great scouting record and an understanding of analytics. We don't need an Ivy League guy who is all numbers but can't evaluate talent. This hire is the most important decision this team will make over the next 5 years. My guys are Ray Montgomery who has proven to be a great talent evaluator, Jason McLeod who has drafted all the cubs players as well as the padres players that were all traded away by Preller and Paul DePodesta who has done a solid job drafting for the Mets and has an analytics background.
We better not hire from a team like the Yankees who are only successful because they can spend big. I have no idea why we hired Korn Ferry to run the search. Please Attanasio prove me wrong and don't screw this up. Hire either Montgomery, McLeod, or DePodesta and the future will be bright.
Not that Peter Gammons knows anything but he thinks some guy Chertoff from the Indians might get the Brewers GM job. Sorry but I don't want anyone from that loser franchise. I hope Melvin pushes Montgomery for the job.
It's strange because I feel like the Indians front office is highly thought of in the industry but they always suck. I guess when you factor in they are a Cleveland franchise (where they cant win a title with Bill Belichek or LeBron James) they do ok for themselves.
Gammons pushes the same few guys for every GM opening and Heyman is constantly pushing Eppler from the Yankees. These two jackasses can both fuck off. The Indians front office is garbage and I don't want to hire from there.
It is way too early to draw any definitive conclusions but it really looks like our 2015 draft could turn out to be one of the best we have ever had. Trent Clark, Cody Ponce, Demi Orimoloye have all been outstanding. Even 9th round pick Karsen Lindell has really looked good early on. Ray Montgomery has earned the GM job just on this draft alone. Give him the job and let him do some amateur scouting as well so our drafts can continue to be excellent. We cannot let this guy leave the organization.

Article summarizing Seid's drafts. I am about halfway through, and I get not wanting to trash a guy that tragically dropped dead, but it is rather kind in it's assessment. Scouting these days isn't the crap shoot it once was, outside of drafting a pitcher that blows out his arm, and the tone seems to apply historical success rates from draft picks that may not apply these days. Bottom line is young players are having a big impact on the game all over the place and that has been absent from the Brewers for half a decade now. http://milwaukee.locals.baseballprospectus.com/2015/08/13/draft-success-bruce-seid/
The guy that wrote that article is an idiot. The Brewers drafts have completely sucked and its why we are in the race for the number one overall pick.
