So I finally looked up 2015 stats: Trevor May: ERA: 4.32, WHIP: 1.32, K/BB: 72/18, K/9: 8.0, BB/9: 2.0, FIP: 3.17 Mike Pelfrey: ERA: 3.94, WHIP: 1.49, K/BB: 45/32, K/9: 4.4, BB/9: 3.2, FIP: 4.09 The Twins must have gotten caught up with ERA despite every other statistic suggesting that May is the better pitcher. Pelfrey is likely to continue his recent regression while May has been unlucky and his ERA is likely to trend lower.
witnessed the first of many sano bombs in person last night. brought my little cousin and he got a mauer foul ball as well. great night.
If we were going to lose tonight, why couldn't Pelf have given up about a dozen runs? Tonight's kinda good/kinda shitty performance did little to push the envelope going into the break.
true. it is nice being salty about a 7.2 inning 4 ER outing, however. that would have been up there with one of the best pitching performances of the year in 2014.
You're not wrong. I just want to see Pelf as a middle/late reliever and get May back into the rotation.
My wife can vouch for me, I called Dozier's HR when he came up to the plate. Then I started yelling "Yes!" when the pitch was still coming in and was obvious that it was a hanging curve that Dozier was going to crush.
I totally missed this game. Watching the highlight, though, I was at the game Nremer mentioned v the Sox with Thome's heroics. So there's that.
Probably late July. Hicks is coming around though so I wouldn't be surprised to see them give Buxton more time in the minors. He definitely needs to see more breaking balls. I don't think he was ready for the major league sliders.
It took too long, but Dozier is finally named to the All-Star team. This reminds me, I went to a Twins game a few years ago in Philly when we came back from down 5 or so in the 9th to send it to extras. In extra innings, when it was the pitchers turn to bat (would have been Duensing), Gardenhire pinch hit Butera for him. I told my dad that "I would rather have Duensing hit right now than Butera." The very next pitch, Butera hits a home run that would win the game.
hello yes, i'm here in minnesota now, st. louis park vicinity, twins suck, Royals are awesome, let's hang out eventually maybe, fucks
Enjoy costco. The only other reason to be in slp is the bike path through it. I agree Royals are awesome, because I'm a logical, conscientious Minnesotan. But you, sir, are now on my fecal roster! Northeast MPLS represent
I don't know how to get to costco from my place, i just moved up from KC the first of June. All I know is the 100 highway is a giant butthole of gay construction, the on ramps here are super retarded, traffic is just god awful, it's a lot cooler here and there is less humidity than it KC, you buttholes say bag like 'beg' and you fuck up other words by adding 'eh' to the end of everything. I like your copious amount of parks and ponds, or as you idiots say, 'lakes,' and i also like how you pussies complain about how hot it gets when it gets above 80 degrees. I also like your passive aggressive, "minnesota nice" that you cheeky bastards have. I like your downtown a lot, and your mini-golf at the art museum; that was super fun and a grrrrreat time. Your lack of any type of bbq is just retarded, although you make up for it with your somalian ethnic food trucks. You people also seem to love the mississippi river way too much, it's just a shitty dirty river, get over it. That balls to the wall tits as fuck cathedral in St. Paul is super fucking awesome, as well as the one by downtown Minneapolis, I don't know what it's called. Overall, I love living here. Could use more pugs though.
that. I lived in Nordeast (Nicollet Island/East Bank Neighborhood) until my wife got pregnant and we moved to Edina last year. It is such an underrated area.
ALSO also, i can't wait to respond to your fire/medical emergency calls. I'll be the guy that doesn't have a canadian accent, plus my bunker gear will say HCKB. Look for me.
Lived in Loring Park and Uptown the first 9 years I lived here (grew up in Neb). Got married on Nicollet Island and we bought our house in the Waite Park neighborhood. Congrats on the kid and having an Edina-level income!
Lived in northeast for two years near mayslacks. I miss it up there, so many shitty bars within walking distance.
Add if the wait through the asg break wasn't enough, we gotta wait for the dang west coast. Do we think Ryan will trade for a splashy reliever?
It's so nice to see a couple true sluggers and a real ace. Generating five runs...all on homers? This ain't your Gardy's Twins team.
Nice 9th inning rally but what a shitty way to blow a save...infield hit, wild pitch, bloop just beyond SS.
Can anybody please explain why we have Pelfrey and Milone in the starting rotation and May is in the bullpen? He is clearly the best of those three pitchers and the other two are at best 5th starters.
I'm totally team Molitor but May in the pen is my biggest gripe. Milone in the rotation hasn't bugged me near as much as Pelf.
I have no issue with Milone in the rotation right now. He's not great, but today was really his first poor performance since he's returned from the minors. Right now, I think May and Milone are closer together than Milone and Pelfrey are. I do think that down the road, the gap will widen a bit more, though.
My issue is that Milone gets by with mediocre stuff on deception and based on BABIP, FIP, XFIP he has been lucky and that will likely revert over the course of the season. May actually has good stuff that can miss bats and has been unlucky. Both the eye test and all of his peripherals show him to be a better pitcher than Milone. I'd still have Milone as my 5th starter instead of Pelfrey but May is a top 4 starter in this rotation and they have him in the bullpen.
(Ignoring the 3.1 PA/team game played rule), raise your hand if you had Hicks leading the team in batting average at this point in the season.
also, looks we got some reliever help today. would still like to add a bat, doubtful it happens though.
So it seems as though we post in here a lot less during the second half. I'm sure it has nothing to do with ice cold bats, star-struck spot starters spouting sappy shit. I mean, I'm in the camp that acknowledges that the team was overachieving in the first half, and I wasn't all that upset about not signing big free agents due to next year supposedly being "the come back year." But it is painful knowing that that Jays team was behind the Twins in the standings going into that series. The Twins were all-out bludgeoned by a team that aggressively signed four new players, and now the trajectory of the season is sinking faster than a Duffy ball thrown in the dirt. All that and watching Mauersie bat just keeps making me sadder.
we were doomed after not making a move at the deadline. didn't think this team would last with that momentum all yr. hopefully we can pick it back and get in a groove again
