I honestly have no clue what we'll actually do and I'm not excited about that possibility I just know he's toyed with it. We also just brought in a RB that has 50 caps for Ghana so who knows. Though they did say he was a versatile defender.
I want this to go farther, so much it could. Also, Pep got pissed in another friendly tonight. I guess that is his thing.
been watching a decent amount of MLS recently as I've dabbled in MLS DraftKings and it's a really enjoyable league to watch sometimes. Some stinkers in there like Portland-SJ on Sunday but they won't all be winners. SKC, NYCFC, Orlando, RSL, are entertaining. Wish MLS had a national game or two on Saturdays though.
Reports Columbus has signed 25 year old Argentinian defender Gaston Sauro Played for Boca Juniors 08-12 after being in their youth system then was at Basel 12-14 and spent last season at Catania in Serie B
He absolutey loves his time so far in Toronto. Wonder what effect his play ( and Pirlo ) will have on other top players in Italy ( and Europe )? Would be nice to see more twenty something's coming over.
MLS would get so much better fast if they could attract the Giovincos of the world. Still a while before top tier in their prime talent is here but the US can get that next level down.
Today's results were good. Got the 2nd away win on the season. We aren't catching DC so Montreal losing is good win they have 3 in hand. Orlando dropping points gives us a 6 point lead on them and Toronto losing as well gives us hope to hold a lead on them for 3rd because NYRB are essentially in 2nd with 3 in hand only down 1
I saw this and thought a few different things. 1) WTF 2) Hamid is so damn good and doesn't get near the respect beyond MLS he deserves 3) DC United is going to run away with the East and somehow I think they won't come out of it come playoff time.
I got into MLS literally because I had an internship with the Timbers, but as I have gotten more into soccer I realized something that I believe about it and found my way of really being able to enjoy MLS. Look at it like college football and the NFL. The NFL is always going to be more entertaining because the players are the best in the world and they can do things college athletes won't be able to do. MLS is like college, you have a few guys that could (and did) play everywhere and would succeed at the next level, but it has a huge natural feel of becoming one with a team and getting in on it from more of a ground level type thing. If you like a team in MLS now you are legit and a part of something special. That is a lot like college football. Instead of comparing the two I seperated them and took in the best of both sides. Makes soccer so enjoyable on a ton of levels, just like college football and the NFL both do for me.

I won't be able to stand Lalas saying "Pirlo" in his faux Italian accent. We get it, you played for a shitty Serie A team for a bit.
Lampard has been kind of terrible the first 30 minutes. Edit- Make it 35. He sends a shot from the edge of the box at least 10 yards wide.
It's kind of funny picturing him telling Pirlo what to do. Once his English gets better, I'd let Pirlo be player/manager based on looks alone. He commands respect.
Lamps getting nutmegged leads to the clinching goal. This whole MLS thing isn't as easy as he anticipated.
I don't know how much is Kreis fault. He doesn't have control over player acquisition. Kreis didn't want or need Pirlo preferring a younger DP at a position of need, but NYCFC wanted him and now Kreis has to play him, so now their midfield is very deep with (Lampard, Mix, Pirlo, McNamara, Poku, Jacobson) and some players are going to have to sit. They also don't have a great option at defensive mid and Pirlo is too old to cover enough ground. I don't want to say the team got worse by adding Pirlo, but the team would be better by adding a DP at another position. Adding Pirlo basically forced Kreis hand and now they have to also try to find the best way to fit the new pieces together in a line-up that works and thus far the results have been poor. They were just settling into a line-up that was working when they added Lampard and Pirlo and had to completely reshuffle.
All of the South American signings are his, and they were turned down by two South American DP's before turning to Pirlo. This dude has benched Poku and Mix so he can start Ned fucking Grabavoy, if he was the USMNT coach Beckerman would have a starting spot for the next 10 years.
Apropos to the NYCFC discussion. Both articles attempt to find the best MF for NYCFC while coming to the conclusion that Mix is the odd man out. The night of the long kinves comes for Mix Diskerud: "New York City FC is better off without Mix Diskerud. And if they get an offer for him from any other team in the off-season, they should take it if it's a good one, let alone a great one. They probably won't, but they should actively explore moving him on. He doesn't fit New York City's needs, and they have better, cheaper players already. The evidence is abundant. It's hard to escape, and it becomes more obvious the more you think about it." And, just in case you weren't convinced: "Perhaps surprisingly, Diskerud has the better defensive statistics, while Grabavoy has been a more efficient passer, especially in the final third. It's a tough decision, but in the end, Grabavoy seems like the better option. He was an integral part of Real Salt Lake when they were one of the top possession teams in the league, and that will be one of NYC’s main goals with Pirlo and Lampard in the fold."
I was watching a bit of the Galaxy Game yesterday. There line-up is legit. In running for best ever in my opinion. 5 players that play for legit national teams in Keane, Dos Santos, Zardes, Gonzo. Plus Gerrard. Juninho is a borderline All-Star. Rogers and DeLaGarza are very strong as well. Lletget has been the signing of the transfer window so far. Great get for less than DP contract. Don't really like Leonardo, but other than that team looks quite strong. -----Keane---------Dos Santos----- --Zardes--Juninho--Gerrard--Lletget-- DeLaGarza--Gonzalez--Leonardo--Rogers ----------------Ricketts------------------ Have guys like Gordon, Gargen, Villareal on the bench. The downside is not a lot of minutes for the young talent like Villareal, IV, Sorto and all the youth on Galaxy II. snowfx2 - Your thoughts as a LAG Fan? Best ever squad on paper for you?
I'd say that's a pretty fair breakdown. Agree on not being a fan of Leonardo, but the rest of the lineup is rock solid with a ton of talent. It's hard not to see why they wouldn't be the favorite at this point to win the MLS Cup.
Leonardo is having his best season so far but I still prefer the Omar/DLG duo as the CB's. Ricketts has to be the biggest concern. He can be shaky and has to be the most injury prone GK ever.
Matt Miazga might legitimately be the best CB in MLS right now. He has been great since coming back from the U20 WC. Shut down Villa twice now. Red Bulls are 10-2-3 with him and 0-4-1 without him. Playing way better for club than Alvarado. Hope that Miazga and Dax McCarty get called in to the USMNT. McCarty could be the CDM that the team needs with Beckerman aging out and looking less than sharp. Not a long-term solution at age 28, but he has been really good this year and was great this weekend.
Agree on Trapp long-term, but Trapp is 22 and missed a good chuck of this year with injuries, so I think he is a couple years away from being ready to start on the national team level. I think McCarty can be an effective stop-gap for 1-2 years as the team needs to phase out Beckerman. McCarty should hopefully get us to the Trapp Era. Longer-term I hope that an effective CAM develops, so that Bradley can be pushed back into his more natural box to box defensive midfielder role.
Not plural, he had a concussion and they played it really safe and sat him for months he could still have 2 full years then possibly/hopefully be ready at 24 with a year before the World Cup
Fucking Garcia just plows into Benny about 5 seconds after he passes the ball for a straight red. RSL are such bitch made faggots when they're losing.
They're always bitch made. Seeing us beat them on pens in person for the cup was a wonderful experience.
I got Benny in the #2 hole for MVP behind Giovinco and ahead of Kamara. Incredible the JK continues to not call Benny in to the USMNT. He is playing better now than ever and he was a good player for the team under Bradley.
