So it looks like Portland is expecting to bring anywhere from 1,500-2,500 fans based off of their messageboards/ thats pretty impressive when its gotta be expensive to fly from Portland to Columbus! Also considering how tickets keep going on sale- the MLS/Crew are continuing to find ways to add seats to the stadium- I suspect attendance is gonna be close to 24K or 25K and break the stadium record. Be sure to piss before coming into the match- the Crew's facilities leave alot to be desired. The stadium really needs to be renovated- its a glorified high school football field
There have been talks of trying to build a new stadium downtown near Nationwide Arena/Huntington Park
@thomasfloyd10 Kei Kamara went down in training - Berhalter wasn't sure if he'd be OK for tomorrow but seems to think he'll play. #MLSCup @jeffreycarlisle Berhalter added that Kamara will need to be evaluated. Says his guess right now is that Kei will be available. #CrewSC #mlscup
Beckham's Miami group has a stadium deal in place. Looks like it will be 100% privately financed in the Overtown district just north of Downtown Miami. No idea about Miami and if this is a good area for a stadium, but it is allegedly close to public transit and is in an up and coming neighborhood.
I agree but it was a rumor recently and would explain the rapid expansion. Don't love how quickly they've gone from 20 to 24 and now 28?
I don't see an issue with the pace of expansion, the on-field quality has only increased with expansion because we're dealing with a global talent pool in this sport (also means more academies for youth development). 24. Miami 25. Sacramento I'd guess a 3rd team in Texas (SA or Austin), St. Louis, Garber has been mentioning San Diego more lately, Charlotte would be some of the faves. Of course some market(s) not on the radar could force their way in like how Sacramento has done with great fan support at the lower levels, perhaps Indy 11?
Nordecke is filling up and has been rocking since about 2:15. Very impressed by the Portland turnout. Looks like they're going to fill the entire South end and I'm seeing their flags in the corners down there too
0% chance with the big shot owners of these teams and what some are going through for stadiums that promotion system happens in the USA. just no chance.
The biggest stage and a league has something to prove and those are the two plays that will be shown over and over.
Obviously didn't see that first part before making my statement earlier. That's absurd, don't blame the player at all for thinking it was a throw in.
Now there are. But the system has been in place before they all came in. Given the choice do you think any would prefer it if it didn't already exist? Because that's what the case is here. Arthur Blank isn't investing into soccer and the functionality of the new stadium for a team that might be relegated.
So I guess that saying in hockey where the playoffs are won by the hottest goalies isn't true for soccer.
It's been shit, but MLS is got some top-tier garbage reffing. I think its almost just a sports thing, to the point that the NBA is only behind hockey for the 'best' which is saying everything.
Nba refs get a bad rap for just being out in a terrible spot. 5'8" old guys trying to watch high flying contact a solid 4 feet above their view....while also looking down at feet. Yea good luck.
But they also had a guy that admitted to betting. Refs are god awful right now in so many sports. From what I know and can tell NHL is so far above everything else in terms of quality.
