I've said for years they should have an nhl style system with linesman and refs. Split up the responsibilities. One watches boundaries and other watches contact. You also have to be in great shape for hockey so no real old guys ala football. I don't get why soccer refs have such a hard time unless they simply can't cover the whole field.
That's my point, how bad are the rest. (and I realize NBA is impossible to officiate correctly but you get my point)
How do they decide the location of the final? Is it predetermined every year or did Columbus do something to deserve home field advantage?
the MLS should be embarassed what a pathetic display by their #1 crew That 2nd goal was unbelievable- I was surrounded by Timbers fans and they were even shocked that something so awful could be allowed like that
Well as bad as that was an obvious hand ball to prevent a 3rd goal pretty much made it even. The refs were horrible on both sides. No team got advantage in that game, it was terrible and both teams got fucked by them.
Having said that. Good game Crew. Can't wait till the Sounders fans get to see that pretty banner saying 'PORTLAND TIMBERS: 2015 MLS CHAMPIONS'
Cool I got to watch five minutes of this live due to flight issues. Still have a six hour Florida flight ahead of me that is now a red eye. But xool.
Hey guys, its 12:27 and I'm still fucking stoked. I'm going to go to work tomorrow hungover. My fucks given scale is going to be 0, because all I need to do is watch a highlight and be happy as shit.
Mexican International, Carlos Vela, in serious talks with MLS. Clubs being linked are Colorado (1st in allocation), Chicago and San Jose. It would be an interesting signing. Vela will costs a lot of money, but has name recognition with key market demographics. Also supposedly Vela doesn't really like soccer and just considers it a job. So motivation could be an issue. Reportedly just likes to play video games and watch the NBA and one of the reason he wants to go to San Jose is because he is a big Warriors Fan.
Really enjoyed this cup! Especially since I adopted the Timbers as my team until ATL UTD joins the league.
Portland is selling Villafana to Santos Laguna for $1M. Villafana got an MLS contract by winning a reality TV show. Fabian Castillo being shopped particularly to Club America, but MLS wants north of $5M. Chris Pontius got traded to Philly. Lamar Neagle traded to DC.
Sucks because I really like Villafana and he played very well for most of the year. Very tactical and doesn't make a lot of mental mistakes. But that's a lot of money that can be distributed a lot of different ways.
So right now MLS is at 20 and will be at 2014 by 2019 or 2020 21. Atlanta (2017) 22. LAFC (2018) 23. Minnesota (TBD) 24. Miami (TBD) Who do you guys think will be the next 4 since we are going to 28? 25. Sacramento 26. St. Louis 27. & 28. Indy/San Diego/Phoenix/San Antonio/Austin/Detroit Have to admit if the Chargers move, San Diego would be a pretty good spot. Down near Petco with a 25,000 seat stadium for the SD Soccers and the Aztecs.
Also FCD took Urruti from Portland in the re-entry draft. Sporting took some back up keeper from Fire. No one else used a pick.
Urruti has a weird MLS history. Signed by Toronto in August 2013 and traded a month later to Portland?
