What kind of work do you do? Think we have a pretty large variety of jobs/industries in this thread. Maybe someone can get you a leg up.
I know someone who did this. Moved up here out of college without a real plan and drove for Uber while looking for a career. Seemed to work for him.
I mean, I can't imagine you would make a killing; however, you could most certainly survive until something better comes up.
I've thought about Uber, but I have a truck that gets kinda shitty gas mileage. As far as past jobs, I've tried several different career fields. I have a degree in Exercise Physiology and went into some healthcare roles right out of school. I've worked in several doctor's offices and was a stress test technician at a cardiologist office for a few years. Then I taught high school and coached basketball for about 3 years. Wasn't making any money, so I got a sales job with an industrial supply wholesaler, selling mainly piping and plumbing components to contractors and plumbers. That job was ok, but a friend of mine called me one day and started pitching me this job in Nashville. I was working for Jackson National, a couple people in this thread are familiar with it, they are annuity wholesalers. I really liked that job and industry but due to various circumstances, I'm no longer with them. I have been interviewing at places like New York Life, Prudential, Capital Financial Group but they want to sell mostly life insurance policies and I'm more interested in the investment side of things. They also employ a "churn 'em and burn 'em" hiring strategy, where they hire dozens of people each month, invest no time or money into their development and training and then just see how long they survive. It is a 100% commission job and I cannot survive on that. So I'm keeping all options open.....
You looked at AIG? Kind of same thing but who knows. Also with the healthcare in this town you might be able to get back into that field. Maybe the VA?
Cornelius Suttree did you ever hang out upstairs at Sportsman's? I always see your man Ronnie McMahan chilling up there. Does he coach for Vandy?
Yeah it's a great spot. Brad the bartender is about as nice a guy as there is Ronnie is the man. He's an assistant coach at MBA for varsity basketball and one of the microbe football teams. At least three kids from the class of 2005 wouldn't have graduated if not for his ability to keep it real He works VU basketball camps but other than that he just soaks up his VU legend status around campus
Yea Brad is great...always hooks it up. Does his family own Sportsman's or something because he has like five kids...
Speaking of which Ty Chandler released a top 8: USC, Ohio St, Duke, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and Ole Miss How bad is Derek Mason? Not only does he lack a commitment for the 2017 signing class. He couldn't even make the top 8 for a kid who plays a position of massive need at a school located a mile down the road from his office. A kid who likes fucking Duke. Ugh
No clue. Dude has been working there since I was using a fake ID to get in bars though. They have the MLB package IIRC
Haven't been to upstairs at Sportsman's in forever but I loved that place from like Sophomore year of college to like 1 year out of college.
It is. I worked there last night on its first night as non-smoking. Even the bartenders couldn't remember to not light up.
Anyone seen these Tennessean articles on judge Rachel Bell? She works a very limited schedule and as a result people stay in jail 18 days after their arrests without having so much as a hearing Holy shit
Had a wedding in Nashville last weekend and everyone stayed in the opryland hotel. Will never make that mistake again. That place is a black hole. It was like everyone was on their way to or back from Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, or Branson Missouri.
That sounds awful. I can't imagine why someone would think that's a good idea. Did you at least play golf at Springhouse?
Did not. Girlfriend flew in from New Orleans Friday night and she had never been to Nashville before. She left last night and I pretty much showed her all of Nashville. Friday night Holland House Broadway Saturday Husk 12 South wedding at riverwood mansion broadway Sunday Taco Mammacita Downtown Franklin Acme PPark Paul Simon at the Ryman Monday Gabby's Drove thru Belmont and Vandy The Gulch East Nashville Rose Pepper BNA
I've always sorta wanted to try a "staycation" at Opryland. I feel like it would be fun to get drunk there with a girlfriend or something. I'm probably wrong.
Everyone pray for Daddy Rabbit he is currently getting a haircut in Bordeaux. Best case, he comes back with cornrows. Worst case.... well let's just pray.
I just feel like Opryland is Nashville's version of Pigeon Forge. But hey, with alcohol, pretty much anything can be fun. So who knows For those that play golf, I recommend it even more as the Sewanee golf course was redone when the Inn was. Both are pretty nice now. Although, the course is only 9 holes. Then you also have the perimeter trail and all the other good shit up there on the mountain.

VU men's golf headed to the NCAA golf championships for a third straight year after finishing second at the Franklin Regional. VU with a team score of -20 today. Texas won at -45. VU finished -34 with Houston, LSU and UVA all finishing in the low 20's. Scott Limbaugh is such a bad ass. Sneds, Curran and List all on tour with Stewart and more on the way. Exciting times
I'm having a few buddies in town in August and wanted to play golf. Would y'all recommend presidents reserve or generals retreat? Or another course I may be overlooking? I've never played either, so I wasn't sure what the consensus is.
If money is not a problem, President's is a significantly better course. Its my favorite in Nashville. FYI - President's is $79 and General's is $59
Only place in Nashville where I would pay for an $80 round. It's great. Got my only two eagles on the par 5, 18th hole
The Gold Rush to ban smoking Wow I can't believe Joe is caving. Hopefully the people who stayed away visit it now. Buffalo chicken sandwich http://www.tennessean.com/story/lif...model-ban-smoking-target-millenials/84662946/
as long as they keep cheap PRB and Beans Rolls, I'll be fine. I don't like them saying they want craft beer and shit. this is such a douchey quote: “The city’s local brew scene is booming. And we want to be the No. 1 spot for locals and tourists to enjoy craft beers and inspired cocktails,” Gruber said, adding that the updates are intended to cater to existing clientele and also target the influx of millennials moving to Nashville.
I'm not upset at them, putting the smoker's out in the back... but don't change the attitude of the place to meet the needs of tourists and beer cunts. I like my dive bars divey and my beer snob bars snobby. Keep them separate

You'll just have to PM me on here and I'll work a side deal with ya. Yea I'm really hoping to be approved for both of them by then. That fucking surge pricing will be a thing of beauty for me.
