Is there anything to do around the sounds stadium before a game with small kids? We are thinking of heading down early to see if we can get a parking spot decently close.
Down at the brewfest... at that pbr root beer coming out in two weeks...5.9% and tastes just like root beer
Bicentennial Mall Park is right down the street. Pretty cool views of downtown and I'm pretty sure it has one of those water park things where water squirts out of the ground. Also walking around Germantown is pretty cool.
It was a little early to eat, so we just walked around bicentennial park to kill some time. Sat in the Berm area in the outfield since they apparently didn't have four seats together bc it was so packed. Not the best view, but worked well with small kids.
Watching a show and they have a part on Hattie B's hot chicken. Holy shit it looks amazing. Trip to Nashville in my future.
Which show/episode? I eat it all the time, but I'd still like to give it a watch. Also, you're not wrong. I thought I had tasted good fried chicken, then I moved to Nashville...
There was a group of people the host was asking what level of heat their chicken was. They then brought out the hottest and he tried it at the table.
Here is a link to a streaming version of the episode that I watched: http://gorillavid.in/kofxd7519i45
Hattie B's starts at about 8:30 mark. Saw a group of guys in background talking behind Michael Symon?
Nelson Mazda at 12th and Broadway is going to become a mixed-use development once the 1.4-acre site sale goes through Expect a grocery store there I bet the dealership will be demolished and the new site completed before Alex Palmer announces any new plans at his massive pond http://www.tennessean.com/story/mon...fashion-stores-likely-broadway-site/30722373/
We've been told by a series of internal campaign polls that Bill Freeman is firmly atop Nashville's mayoral race and a gaggle of candidates is competing for second place. But a new poll — one funded by an outside special interest group, not a mayoral campaign — says it's now a three-way statistical tie for first. And Freeman, the poll says, is no shoo-in to make a run-off. A poll obtained by The Tennessean that was funded by the Tennessee Laborers PAC, which hasn't endorsed in the mayor's race but leans to the left, has Megan Barry in first with 20 percent of support from likely voters, followed by David Fox at 19 percent and Freeman at 18 percent. That puts the three in a statistical dead heat for the top spot. That trio is followed by Howard Gentry at 11 percent, Charles Robert Bone at 9 percent, Linda Eskind Rebrovick at 7 percent and Jeremy Kane at 3 percent. According to the poll, 14 percent of likely voters are still undecided. Percentages are rounded.
i tried to go by hattie b's last time i was in town. i was unfortunately in a rush and it was noon. the place was slammed.
ya, you have to go on off hours and try to avoid weekends or just go to pepperfire and enjoy my favorite hot chicken
prince's wouldn't be as fun at noon. it is more of a night time thing, unless you are in on vacation, then I'd say go whenever. I went to Bolton's the other day and waited so long for food. they had trouble in the kitchen or something. I prefer the one by my house in south nashville than the east nashville original location. I plan on trying Helen's Hot chicken next week, then I will have had them all.
it is a bad area of town (hooker city). Dickerson isn't great. but if you just drive to Prince's, eat, then leave, you are fine. it is cash only and you will be one of the few white people there (if you are white) but it is open till 4 AM on weekends and it is the best (hands-down) hot chicken experience if you go drunk at 2:30. will take a while to get food, but that just allows good people watching
Especially after Terwilliger Pappas, the multifamily developer that Palmer had teamed with, backed out within the past month. Right after his Hotel partner, Concord Hospitality, ditched him, also. Palmer is sooooo good at what he does.
Want to go to a nice dinner Monday night. Looking at a few places. Any thoughts on these? Etch Margot Rolf & Daughters Josephine 404 Kitchen City House Husk Wanted to try to get into Catbird but looks like they are closed on Mondays.
Also, can anyone tell me about Acme Feed & Seed? Have a friend who works there and we are thinking about stopping by pre-show on Tuesday.
Yea. The band played some Reckless Kelly Saturday night. Barely anyone knew the song. Pretty disappointing.
Titus Andronicus and The Love Language shows added by The Stone Fox for September 16th and October 8th Missed the sold out Bully show last Friday but KOP'ed tickets to their Brooklyn show today
In what should be a major plus for soon-to-be concertgoers, the announcement was made todaythat downtown Nashville's new Ascend Amphitheater will feature a trio of popular local restaurants to go along with the usual concessions. Hattie B's Hot Chicken, Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint and Padrino's Pops will all be on hand for the full slate of shows this year, the first one taking place this Thursday. Joey's House of Pizza was rumored early on to be one of the local additions as well, but that obviously did not pan out.
Like someone mentioned above, RaD is really good food, but small portions. Wouldnt be my restaurant of choice. Josephine is pretty good, but I prefer Urban Grub in that area. Havent been to 404 City House, Margot and Husk are awesome. There was an article in the past year that asked a lot of the top nashville chefs where they like to eat/drink and the ones that almost every chef seemed to mention were: Etch, City House, Margot and Rolf and Daughters.
Etch is fantastic but honestly it seems like a pretty standard nice restaurant. I loved Josephine and Margot...my two favorite places I've eaten are Nonna and Chauhan.
Looks like local NAACP types are demanding MNPS hire some black woman from GA to be superintendent after Looney decided to remain in Williamson County. They're going to hold rallies She has never been superintendent of a school system
