Made some chili. Grilled some dogs. Threw some sharp cheddar on. Had a beer. It worked out. DrTomOsbourne
I'm at Sean brocks Mexican concept right now and he's literally in the kitchen cooking. Pretty awesome
Minero looks awesome, that style of Mexican restaurant has struggled in lots of areas of the US (refined, more expensive, etc) so hoping Charlestonians support it.
makes some quality off the shelf salsa too really want to get to one of his, planning this years vacations and Chicago is on the short list
Corn and peanut butter do not mix imo. I would not spread peanut butter on an ear of corn hot off the grill or make creamed corn with peanut butter, but that's just me.
AIR-in, othewised pronunced as AIR OWN on chopped calls a taco a TAH'co and more or less over pronounces everything. But hes mexican so he can
Got a recipe for that chili? My standby is a bit too veggie/bean filled (I know not real chili) for dogs. Also team chili, cheese, and raw onion.
When I do chili for dogs I keep it simple. I like raw onion too but I kept it purist today. 1 whole red onion diced 3 cloves garlic minced 1 whole poblano diced 1 whole jalapeno diced Cook over medium heat for 10-15 minutes until completely sweated with olive oil. Add 1 lb chuck ground and 1 lb sirloin ground which should make for about 85/15 mixture, and cook until brown. Add favorite chili mix (yeah I bought that shit) Add cento crushed tomato to the consistency you like and 1 can of domestic pilsner (miller lite used). Cook over low for 40 min. Add salt and cayenne to taste.
roses luxury gets all the nationwide pub for being amazing haven't lived in NOVA for 5-6 years and we stuck to Alexandria and the south perimeter of DC so don't have a ton downtown recs
Rabid joey jo-jo jr shabadoo or any other Minny peeps, where's the best spot for someone to dine if they only have 1 lunch and 1 dinner in town?
Butcher and the Boar Get the Long Rib (ideally this is shared with 2 people. If it is just you, YOLO!) If you're doing something like that for dinner, I'd probably do something like Matt's Bar for a Jucy Lucy for lunch. It is a local staple. Other top restaurant destinations: Bachelor Farmer Spoon & Stable Bar La Grassa 112 Eatery (Tagliatelle with Foie Gras Meatballs) Restaurant Alma Travail The patio at Brits is worth hitting up for a drink too. If you can fit it in, a trip to the Surly Brewery is great too. Their food is pretty good and their Brewer's Table is supposed to be awesome.
I'll second a great deal of those recommendations, and add these as well: Revival - great fried chicken (they have Tennessee hot style, as well) and mac and cheese (they are also open for lunch) Spoiler Haute Dish - don't mess around, just get the tater tot haute dish (that's a short rib buried under the beans and porcini) Spoiler Victor's 1959 Cafe - Cuban, really good breakfast/lunch spot Other burger spots: The Bulldog, Red Cow (they also have a braised beef and beer cheese poutine which is ridiculous), Parlour (my favorite burger in the city, but they are only open during dinner hours, also a nice spot to grab a cocktail) Pizzeria Lola is great if you want to do pizza (I'd recommend the Korean BBQ) The cavatelli with braised rabbit is my favorite thing at Bar La Grassa if you decide to go there And I guess my last recommendation would be to stay in Minneapolis and avoid crossing into St. Paul
Cracked up when I saw that joey jo-jo jr shabadoo is one person. Thought you tagged like 4 or 5 guys.
#Merica Barbecued pork tenderloin (rib rub, reverse sear method in BGE, bbq sauce), baked potato, rw&b salad with Surly #Merica.
Sous vide strip steak over mashed then fried potatoes topped with caramelized onions and quick wine pan sauce. Roasted carrots on the side
Solid day spent in the mountains. Breakfast: scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, thick cut bacon, and avocado toast Dinner was some chicken kabobs marinated in mirin, rice vinegar, tamari, olive oil, chili paste, and sesame oil overnight. Did a nice grilled corn salad with tomatoes and pesto as well as some simply roasted brussels.
That turned out really well and was probably my favorite thing of the day. Whenever summer comes around I'm always trying to think of different ways to use corn, especially if I can grill it first.
So the lady friend made this tonight and I realize this isn't the crock pot thread, but this shit is awesome. Y'all would like it. Slow cooker chicken Tikka masala http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-slow-cooker-chicken-tikka-masala-recipes-from-the-kitchn-211284 We did add some Thai peppers to it
That's what I'm using. Do you season and mix it into the meat? Or quick make patties and season the outside? I think I'm handling it too much.
Particularly parts 5, 6, and 8 will be relevant to you. But read it all, it'll help. http://aht.seriouseats.com/archives/2010/03/the-burger-labs-top-ten-tips-for-better-burgers.html
For those who've been, how does Addendum work? I know it's just lunch, to go, but do you have to get reservations or order ahead?
talking Kellers place behind Ad Hoc I assume can order ahead on-line/by phone, line was so long when I went that people in line ordered on their phone and beat us to the front, was fucked up there's a bunch of tables you can sit at
fried chicken was awesome but the bbq was kind of just ok, if you have to choose and don't just hit the whole menu like we did need to get back to Napa soon
Too hungry to snap a pic of breakfast but: Mulefoot pork belly from my restaurant's farm heirloom tomato sauteed creminis diced avocado triple cream brie oil two fried eggs nomthefucknom
Where all did you eat? I'm going to be there next weekend and am flying by the seat of my pants as far as food goes. Pretty set on vineyards.
If a restaurant does its own charcuterie, they can name the restaurant 'propter hog' and an adjoined store that sells just the smoked meats 'post hog'
