My daughter( yr and half) has started a new wake up routine where she just throws everything out of her crib and stands there crying till we come in.
My little girl did that as well, had to put an end to it so one morning she trhew it all out and started to cry. We let her cry it out for about 30 minutes and she stoped crying, went in and got her. She hasnt done it sence.
Just transitioned little tad into a toddler bed last night. I was expecting the worst, but he went right to sleep. I noticed him hop out of bed this morning, but he just wanted to grab his stuffed animals. He got right back in bed and laid down. This will inevitably go differently tonight.
Somehow a play date for our 2.5 year old daughter turned into me babysitting her little friend alone for a few hours. I feel tricked and outnumbered.
About to head to the hospital. Today may be the day Any last minute tips for the husband's role in labor?
Went crib shopping today. Those things are expensive. Looking at one that can also turn into a bed once the crib is outgrown.
All this sleeping through the night, potty training, baby on the way shopping has me glad mine is almost a teen. Saturday at Englishtown NJ, NHRA
Had little hippos first birthday party yesterday- she loved it. I'm pretty sure the total bill was more than my wedding in Vegas... I don't want to ask. :(
just started ISR swim lessons for our second boy. If you have a pool, live near a pool, go to the pool, I would highly recommend it. Second boy is 8 months old and barely crawling. So his lessons aren't so much swimming as they are anti-drowning. after a few weeks, he will be able to flip over and float on his back if he were to fall into the pool. Brooks at 8 Months Brooks at 20 Months The following summer, Brooks learned how to flip on his stomach and swim. When he needs a breath, he flips over on his back and gets a breath.
one of our friends had a pool scare yesterday and they had been doing swimming lessons since 6 or 8 months. They were at a friends house and all the kids were playing the pool fine. They go to have lunch and everyone was eating and the older boy (2 1/2 or so) snuck off and got in the pool. Was found by his dad in the pool and he was struggling to get to the side and keep above water. They are pretty shaken up about it and worried about secondary drowning ect. Scary stuff. They think swimming lessons saved him. They aren't sure how long he was in the water.
Wondering how you're progressing with this. Always interests to hear. I'm about 2 months into toddler bed with my 2 and a half year old. Horror story time. We have a monitor in his room, but we rarely use it. Currently his room is pretty close to us, and I'm a light sleeper, so usually when he makes a noise(like opening his door), I wake up. It just so happens that I was particularly tired one night, and crashed shortly after I laid him down(also a rare occasion). He got up, open the child lock on the kitchen cabinet under the sink, and proceeded to spray cleaning chemicals(mostly windex, the least harmful of them, I think) all over our house. Tile floors, leather furniture, walls. No electronics, luckily. I'm still not sure what woke me up, maybe the smell. Windex, bug spray, and febreeze fucking everywhere. Mopped the entire house at midnight and slept with windows open to air the place out.
We've been putting little hippo with us in the pool for a couple months now, she absolutely loves it which is great- and scary. We're doing a little swimming class with her this Saturday- and will continue to put her in lessons while she is young. We got this for my moms house http://www.amazon.com/Safety-Turtle...&qid=1433791528&sr=8-1&keywords=safety+turtle As the lil one becomes more active we're going to keep it on her at all times when we're there and not actively swimming. One of the downsides of my wife being a social worker at a children's hospital (outside of massive student loans, and incredibly low pay) is she's seen a lot of bad, very very bad stuff. The worst you can imagine she's probably seen it, so she's overly nervous around things that can / have killed kids.... but $130 isn't that big of a deal, if it keeps us from going through a scary situation like that.
Anybody use the OK to Wake clock with their kids? Seems to have good reviews. We're getting desperate with our 2 year old. Ever since we switched to the big girl bed, it's been a nightmare with her getting up during the night. The worst part is she only lets Mrs. Scorpio put her back to sleep.
What does everyone recommend to get vomit out of carpet? The little cub just tripped while walking with her sippy cup and smoked her mouth/teeth. Hurt so bad she threw up. I got some powder I vacuum with to throw down tomorrow but was curious on what others use. The smell is strong.
It's going better than expected, but he was being pretty belligerent about bed time in general tonight. However, when he does get in bed, he tends to stay there. That's a plus. I was fearing for the same that happened with you, and I still am.
We use it. Seems to work well with our 2.5 year old. Now she'll just play in her bed and won't even call out until it's on.
Aside from my horror story above, mini-fusion is an awesome sleeper(walked in the door tonight to find him passed out on his bean bag chair because his papa was at the house today and he didn't nap). I'd like to think it's something we did, but it's really just luck. He lays in our bed and watches tv until I turn it off, then he says, "get in MY bed," climbs down, and I follow him in there. Getting him into the toddler bed was never a problem - good luck to ya, Hank.
It was hard bc he cried every lesson for 4 weeks. Lessons are only 10 minutes a day. But, about 3 weeks in, we went to our pool and he fell in. I was within an arms reach, but waited to see what he would do. He flipped over to his back and started to breathe, so I was relieved to know it would work. It has given him immense confidence in the water, which is awesome. He was jumping in off the diving board at 22 months.
Congrats ugafish Question for you guys. Last night was our first night home. She got fed at 2:30am and 5am, both 25-30 minutes each. She stayed latched well and was going to town pretty much the entire time. Well she would finish and then pass out for a minute...but then, she would wake up and be fussy, start sucking on her hands and rooting. I don't see how she could still be hungry. Any tips or anyone have an experience like this?
Our first one ate every hour on the hour and some in between for weeks. The latest one will sleep a lot longer, but will batch feed before those long naps. Yours may be doing the same.
nature's miracle http://www.natures-miracle.com/ it's for pet stains but damn if the stuff does not work for everything
If it becomes an issue she can check with the hospital, a lot of times they have lactation specialists... I think they weigh the baby before a feeding and right after and it can tell them how much the baby got. It was a huge deal with my wife not being able to know how much she was getting so after a week or so she switched to pumping and bottles. Then came the reflux...and we had to switch to nutramigen
Your wife and your daughter's friend's parents snuck off for a threesome? Kind of rude to exclude you, but someone has to watch the kids, I guess.
They are a nice couple...I'm not really sure if they ever wanted a kid. They seem to always fill their schedule up and not include their daughter. Mom was running a 5k while dad took his motorcycle out of state to visit a friend. That's a typical weekend where they have someone else watch their kid. I wish I knew how many people had to say no before somehow I got picked. And oh by the way...there was a kids fun run that her daughter could have participated in. /rant
Haha. You got duped. I never understood why people pay money to run a 5k/10k/fun run, etc. Just get a few friends together and hit the road.
