I think we can go just as far with either Zaire or Kizer. I think Kizer will win out but I'm more than OK with either
I've seen so much bad red zone play the last year between ND and Green Bay, that I am at least open to the thought of Zaire because I think he may be better there. I do think it will be Kizer tho. Just think, a few years back it was Crist or Rees
My fear is Kelly going all Kelly with a second year qb (kizer). He always puts too much on his qbs after the first year where he manages his guy. Nd under Kelly is always better when he doesn't completely trust his qb. With zaire he would have to run It.... Food for thought but i still think It Will be kizer
Last year we didn't see the fuckery with wasting the whole play clock just to get the play in and lined up. I think Sanford and Denbrock have a good thing going.
I think Kizer has the more upside but i think Zaire could be the bigger threat between the two. Depends on how healed he is after the injury and how much confidence he has in his recovery. Some QBs after a leg injury become more cautious. I am not going to be upset with either QB winning the job as they are both worthy. If we know 1 thing about Kelly and his QBs, at some point this season we will need both.
I don't remember if it was posted in here, but an anonymous coach in an SI piece said Zaire scares the hell out of him because he can explode on any given play for a TD. I tend to agree with him and think he is better than most ITT from reading the tea leaves. He's one of the most dynamic players on the team with the ball in his hands and puts enormous pressure on the defense, not to mention tremendous leadership qualities which I think go a long way in CFB
If Kizer is 10 percent more accurate this year and 20 percent better in the red zone of which I think are reasonable expectations of improvement the dude will challenge for AA and ND for 12 wins Obviously Will Fuller isn't coming back but having functioning tight ends I think will make up for that It's Kizer all the way- Zaire Is getting his degree and then he can pick his 5th year showcase spot
I really like zaire a lot but kiser is special. could be a high first round draft pick at the position.
This isn't even a debate to me- Kizer is 6'5 with a rocket arm and can scoot If he progresses at all he could be the first QB drafted this year
Prister and Sampson mentioned several times on podcasts during fall camp that they thought Kizer looked better than Zaire. They immediately dismissed it and certainly weren't arguing that he was even in consideration to start, but it is something they mentioned more than once.
this won't be a top 5 class (unless we land Sarrell and Echols and another big surprise) but it's gonna be a legit top 10 class on all site IMO...really happy with where things stand as of now
Good thanks, for one second i thought he was a flake who would bust regardless of where he goes to school and decommited from Nd but now i see that he is a smart young student athlete who is doing a good job of weighting all of his options.
This class looks very, very good. Close strong and it'll easily be Top 5. We're in reload mode now with Kelly and I love it.
Filling up this well with quality will allow them to hold out an for a handful of elite prospects this winter.
We used to say that but with some scrubs 3 stars with potential...now every position is getting taking care of with good recruits and with a good season Nd could get a few top 50 player out of nowhere. Great job by Kelly and his staff.
yeah, id like some elite players in there but this class is going to give an insanely broad base to work from
I bet there is some elite players in there, but i get what you are saying. With a good season Nd should get at least one top notch player... Like redfield :)
How thos players turned out doesn't change the fact that a good season and a balanced - not desperate - recruiting approach allows you to be opportunistic down the stretch. There really isn't a position they are desperate for, so they can go hard after any elite player that will listen. I don't want to overstate it because it's not like they are recruiting like OSU/Bama, but the results are still encouraging.
Single game tickets on sale Thursday. Good luck to myself trying to get 6 for MSU and anyone else trying to get tickets.
@McMurphyESPN: ACCs new grant of rights means if Notre Dame joins football conference before 2036, it has to be ACC
by the way this class is just a tarik black commitment away from overtaking last years class rating on the 247 consensus thing. If the cycle closes big it could end up being BKs greatest class. You'd beat the 2013 class with Sarell, Wills, Graham, St Brown, Black, Echolls, Daley and Young which to me feels like an best case scenario but not unplausible. Not like im adding guys like Wade and Browning, even though theyve visited multiple times
outside of one thing you couldve gotten from the groupme the last update is from march, not worth the effort
that really would be a stellar class, definite top 5 on all sites and maybe top 3 depending on how each site does their rankings
since there's nothing to talk about, here's this: Spoiler Small Team Tidbit Talked to a source today about summer workouts and they said "everyone is actually doing good and is in good shape." From what I have understood, freshman OL Tommy Kraemer and Liam Eichenberg have impressed many around the program over the first month of being on campus. Jamir Jones is another name I have heard positive things about. It's doubtful he will see the field this year, but I think people will be surprised at how big he actually is. Another source also stated that the defensive line is coming together. Notre Dame needs Micah Dew-Treadway and/or Elijah Taylor to step up and the source feels both are doing just that during the summer. Both need to play looser when the pads come on, but there is a comfort level mentally with both players heading into year two. Also much like last year, the source says all the freshmen seem to adjusting and really have bonded well. "It's a group that just gets along." Also heard the team did some testing and Quenton Nelson repped 225 on bench 32 times. Now that's coming from a source, so we sill see if Kelly brings it up in his presser in a few weeks but thats **** impressive.
It's a good place to be heading into the season, isn't it? Rankings aside, the kid on your list I really want is Daly. I just see him being an impactful pass rush specialist, but with a bigger frame than the guys they had for that role that transferred out.
