I don't keep up with Notre Dame much. I'd been curious about that lately and the pages I had read in here sounded like everyone was counting him out. Local radio was talking about swarbricks comments but I didn't actually hear them and I don't really trust local radio all that much
Probably better for TMB Domers to comment rather than me, but there are significant financial hurdles to kicking him to the curb and a lack of viable and preferable candidates. So despite being a massive dbag and fucking this year up beyond salvation, he's probably safe. Next year, all bets likely off. He's in the Miles zone. Good luck recruiting.
Yeah, I know they owe him for some money and fat Charlie just came off the books so that's something I'm sure they're trying to avoid doing again
It sucks, because a kid who wants ND should pick ND despite coach instability, but it mostly doesn't work that way.
Arkadin is right And you are mistaken, kids that love Nd want it all. They are not coming just because of academics, they see this opportunity to be challenged in school but still play big time football. If you take away big time football it's not the same at all. When we start losing and look like shit we almost always lose our top recruits. They all know that there is good academics at many other schools
Did you have the impression that I meant that your recruiting would be fine? Because I didn't meant that at all. You'll take a hit if only because of the uncertainty surrounding the coaching situation.
No, not at all. What I meant is that it's not a shame and it doesn't suck. They can find academics elsewhere if the football is not up to what they want and they will do it.
Everyone here wants Kelly fired every Saturday when they get hit by him. These are all battered women. They get slapped every Saturday but come Sunday they think "I can't do better" or "I dont deserve better". That's my sick ass take. I do stand up. Just headlined Wilmington Delaware. WOOOOOOOOOO
Well what do you suggest? Should Nd hire a less experienced guy to beat us up? Maybe that fucker won't hurt us so bad since he is just new? Who do you want?
I'll be at the game this weekend. Asked my dad to take care of the hotel. He books Thursday night to Sunday. I just found out I have to work in Michigan for a day on Thursday. Now we get to go out Wednesday. 4 nights in south bend with my dad. Should be fun.
Thanks. I'll PM you. Also I will be in town with a sales guy that I expect to buy a decent dinner Wednesday night. Any recommendations for a decent place.
Depending on your definition of decent; I alway like Lasalle Grille or cafe Navarre. The Mark at Eddy street is p good too.
You would feel worse if you saw the whole context of that quote. He was drawing an unfavorable comparison to Harbaugh and staff.
I did read it. Just a few weeks ago he was praising Kelly for his stance with holding players accountable. Yet another reason I hate recruiting. I hate knowing shit like this.
Which is weird, because players like Sherman and Baldwin (aka the only Stanford players worth a shit) detest Harbaugh.
On a long enough timeline, it appears everyone learns to detest Harbaugh. Not that that is extremely rare in the coaching profession, but for a coach as successful as him its a bit unusual.
Baldwin doesn't hate Harbaugh. This is what Baldwin said: Sherman might legitimately hate Harbaugh, but Sherman hates everthing. Anyway, the "everyone hate Harbaugh" narrative seems to have been something pushed by the 49ers FO while they were trying to justify their forthcoming idiotic decision to get rid of him. We've yet to hear any of that kind of stuff at Michigan. But there are always going to be players that hate the coach, or think the coach is wronging them, in every program.
It's not that big of a deal, but what you quoted was from a year prior, before the NFC Championship game. The go Buckeyes bit was was a separate interview all together. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...es-jim-harbaugh-best-luck-michigan-wolverines It's whatever. Harbaugh is a weirdo but he's great at what he does.
Oh ok, good call. They put the quotes next to each other in the same article, so I was assuming they came at the same time. But I clearly didn't read it close enough.
Know a lot about Harbaugh at USD. Guys a douche and everybody knows it. Including guys who work for him. Many can't stand him but there is always some who remain really loyal and for whatever reason jive with him. But he's hard to work with. Quirky, demands things and promised at USD things that weren't allowed or affordable and pur the AD in tough spots. At Michigan he can promise or ask for whatever because they've sucked for a long time, they don't anymore and he's the reason.
No doubt I'd love Harbaugh at ND. He wins. I don't have to be buddies with the guy. I root for ND to win not for guys I like. Harbaugh is a douche but he wins bottom line. Kelly also seems like a douche but he doesn't win nearly at the same rate.
I prefer having honorable molders of men than wins but to each their own. If you rather sell your soul for success then you clearly just don't 'get' Notre Dame
