There's a monster in the light heavyweight division- no way around it... It's going to take someone amazing to stop him, I hope that someone is Andre Wars.
Lol boxing is like the oldest and greatest hype sport of all. It's the original... I remember this shit happening when I was was 3 years old.
I don't remember people jumping into the ring and being "held back" happening often as part of the hype.
Had to change it because the lead in stories were depressing. Would love to see a Real Sports episode that doesn't revolve around tragedy.
its the best real sports in awhile too. the only problem i have with his interview is that, with all pikeys, theyre full of shit. i knew some of his background but i didnt know his father gauged some dudes eye out in a BKB fight. wtf!
Don't think anyone considered it, Canelo will be much bigger in the ring and a huge favorite. Pretty sure Khan's never fought above 147.
Yeah, no one thought this was even remotely on table. I'm not sure it's what we "wanted," but considering we can't have GGG-Canelo until the fall and Canelo's best option for May was previously Gabe Rosado, this fight will do just fine. As a fight, not sure it'll be incredibly competitive, but as an event, it's huge. I expect Canelo-Khan to do large PPV numbers. I'll be buying, that's for sure.
Solid fight but when the fuck is canelo gonna fight as a mw? Taking a welterweight as an opponent (albeit a legit one) as opposed to a fight against someone at 160 (even if they're a lesser-caliber fighter than Kahn) makes me think he's going to duck golovkin again in the fall.
Andre Ward-Sullivan Barrera finally officially official for March 26th at Oracle Arena in Oakland on HBO.
While true, he's also chasing the safe money a bit. Khan will be a bigger draw at this point than GGG (sad, but true) and he doesn't pose much of a threat the way Golovkin does. People have to be telling Canelo to just cash in a bit before risking it against Golovkin... With Canelo's chin, GGG can take years out of his career...
That's the only place where Kahn is bigger though. Don't think Kahn has ever headlined his own ppv and I'd be willing to wager that ggg-canelo will do significantly bigger numbers than canelo-kahn is gonna do.
I mean, England is a boxing and sports crazy nation- it's a pretty big deal for that to be the one place where he is more well known. In all honesty, Khan is probably as big of a draw in the United States as Golovkin is... That's not really going out on a limb on that wager, friend. If both fights could be televised this weekend, more people would tune in to Canelo-Khan than Canelo-Golovkin... In reality, Canelo-Golovkin will benefit from months of HBO trying to hype it AND Canelo will gain fans and momentum after the Khan PPV and probably more before he fights Golovkin. You have to understand that almost no one outside of boxing enthusiasts knows or cares who GGG is... It's the sad truth that comes with his origin. Same as Kovalev really... It's the reason why boxing has for so long been thought of as dead by outsiders while we who watch the fights every weekend have been insisting that the sport has been at an incredible level since 2000.
