Love Lomachenko but I hope I don't see him vs a non top 10 fighter in his weight class again. He's established now.
Lomachenko is probably the best p4p fighter on earth. I understand an argument for Ward, but Loma is just silly as a fighter. Just unreal talent. Elite hand speed, ability to go full-on Nightcrawler in the pocket, the footwork... He wins the eyeball test against anyone right now. His resume is low-key underrated too.
I don't think there's any question the P4P title is his as long as he beats a great fighter. As you say he passes the eye test more than any other fighter out there. When he does, the crown will officially be his. Tonight he beat a top 40ish fighter at 130. Great performance but can't give him credit like he beat Kovalev, even if he is more talented than Ward.
Ward manages to be a world class fighter and a world class what if. Dude has squandered huge portions of an already elite career
Yeah. It's just hard to overlook Ward's resume right now. Kessler, Abraham, Froch, Dawson, Barrera, Kovalev x2. That's strong as hell.
I mean, he has already beat a few very good/borderline great fighters. He obviously doesn't have ward's resume. But Gary Russell Jr and Nicholas Walters are both very good fighters. Loma just made them look average.
I bet it was super frustrating to keep getting your foot stepped on too. That dudes footwork was all jacked up by the 3rd round.
That's the thing. Not only is he better than you in terms of talent and technique, but he also mind fucks you in the process of the fight.
Yeah, there's a Golden Boy on ESPN card late tonight that is pretty decent. Tomorrow obviously is the big card with Terence Crawford.
Tonight: ESPN2, 11:00 pm ET, Alberto Machado vs Carlos Morales. Pretty solid Golden Boy on ESPN card, this one with a pair of prospects at at 130 looking to make a mark. Don’t let Morales 16-1-3 record fool you: he started his career 0-1-3 and has won 16 in a row since, showing some talent. He’s on the road in Puerto Rico, but he’s dangerous.
