Well this has me uncomfortably cocky. I actually found a video of Cam and Luke walking into Levi Spoiler
Metrics certainly aren't infallible, but the general thought is that he's been much better after a (relatively) down 2014. Big concern is the Denver depth at CB. If Peterson = Harris, then Talib >>>> Bethel.
Agreed. I generally feel like the Bronco's D lives off it's 3/4 man pass rush so that the rest can drop into coverage. If we handle that pressure and force a safety or LB to blitz too, Talib and Harris can't cover the entire field.
Yep. They hardly blitzed at all vs NE and got like 20 QB knockdowns? Our OL is much better than that shit NE was throwing out there, and Cam is the great equalizer to a pass rush, but still.
Just had this shared with me at work. Thoughts? Feels like something Shu would show me. Methinks co-worker is a tinfoil hat kinda goy
I don't like how the home team shit is just alternating from afc to nfc every year. Home team should be the one with the best record.
They did a piece on ESPN showing the fracture in TD's arm. He should be able to use his elbow and hand just fine albeit will come down to pain tolerance. This is overall good news.
NFC Champ shirt came in today. Not wearing it to prevent the jynx. Also, thoughts on Cam's comments today?
Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton: Being an African-American QB with this skill-set scares people Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been dancing on the field all season, but he’s done dancing around the divisive topic of what makes him so polarizing. Newton lay bare Wednesday in the lead-up to Super Bowl 50 what he believes is the reason why he’s been such a lightning rod for criticism in his career. From pre-draft critiques in 2011 to a Tennessee mother in 2015, Newton has drawn the ire of a number of NFL fans and observers over the years. “I’m an African-American quarterback that may scare a lot of people because they haven’t seen nothing that they can compare me to,” Newton said. With a victory against the Denver Broncos in less than two weeks, Newton would become the third African-American quarterback to win the Super Bowl. Newton said he’s comfortable in the position he’s in now and could not “care less what you say” about him. This season he’s torn down banners, thrown 12th Man flags, danced in the end zone, continued taking pictures on the sideline during most of Carolina’s 17 wins and more that’s caused him to be endeared by many and loathed by others. “Whether you win, lose or draw, people are going to talk,” Newton said. “Now the true fans -- they know what’s up. They’re going to be supportive whatever happens.... But people are going to judge and have their own opinion on certain things that I don’t have control over nor does anybody else.” Panthers coach Ron Rivera, who became a head coach the same year that Newton was drafted in 2011, seemed puzzled as to why Newton is still polarizing to some. “It’s funny we still fight that battled based on what? All he’s done when he came in his rookie year…he had a dynamic rookie year,” Rivera said. “He was NFL (Offensive) Rookie of the Year. He’s been in conversations every year for awards. This year he’s in the conversation for MVP. I still don’t get why he has to (be criticized). And maybe there are some people out there who are concerned with who he is, which I think is terrible. I really do. “You think in this time, this day and age, it would be more about who he is as an athlete, as a person more than anything else. Hopefully we can get past those things.” Read more here: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sp...s/nfl-blog/article56857428.html#storylink=cpy
I am so sick of this Cam crap from the media. He is a great football player. Can't we just leave it at that?
People need to stop falling for the race card distraction. Read the full fucking quote. But yeah, it's blatantly obvious they are closet bigots. Never had a problem with shit like this until Richard Sherman scared a po lil wite womin
you think people hate cam because he's black? or because the things he does (dancing, celebrating, showboating, etc) are associated with black culture?
a lot of his detractors dislike the brash, outgoing black guy playing a position that's been dominated by white "ceo" types which i think was his main point. it doesn't make anyone that dislikes cam an active racist (tho those kinds certainly exist). it's just a more subconscious thing with most of the anti-cam crowd
Well that's my question I guess. Do people dislike his skin color, or his actions because they associate them with his skin color? When Steve Smith and Chad Johnson were doing elaborate celebrations for every TD I'm not sure anybody hated them for it, tho twitter wasn't around then to spread opinions so far and wide. People hate Philip Rivers because he's brash and loud and outgoing, yet he's a white pocket passer. I don't know how the general public felt about Deon or Michael Irvin when they were dancing all over the field every game, to compare. I'm not disagreeing with you, just exploring the topic. I think part of the issue is how marketable Cam is, and how successful he's become. The dude is everywhere, partly thanks to ESPN and partly thanks to his own desire to be a transcendent icon. He's in your face even if you aren't a Panthers fan, and that bothers people it seems.
It being position driven is interesting to me. I get that QB's are held to higher standard in terms of play and in the box score, but that they can't act like every single other player on the field is so dumb.
Is it not OK to "hate" (root against) Cam because of his college career? Half of my friends went to Auburn and have used him to legitimize their school for the last 5 years. It is only through a very shady recruitment after being kicked out of Florida for cheating/stealing that he went to Auburn. I wasn't on TMB in 2010-11 but I can only imagine how much time was spent bitching about Auburn and Cam on this board and others like it. We just forget all of that now? The articles of about shit Peyton did in college like sitting on an athletic trainer... keep writing those. Ask Peyton about that stuff during media availability. I would love to see him squirm. These guys are football players. We don't have to worship them off the field.
that's fine for bama fans but think a little bit more critically here. the fact that he felt the need to talk about it clearly shows there is something to be discussed with this narrative also i am not saying to worship cam off the field but he does so many good things for my hometown all the time so yeah he's an amazing role model for kids
also cam was never kicked out of florida. he withdrew on his own. i dont understand the narrative that he was kicked out. urban let a killer and someone that texted his gf "time to die bitch" stick around but he was gonna boot/expel the heir apparent to tebow? yeah ok
Well he was also facing expulsion for other stuff than just the computer. He "decided" to transfer after that and the computer stuff.
Rodney Harrison can go choke on a bag of dicks for what he said on the Dan Patrick show today. I know some players will play dirty, but you're talking about ending careers by going for someone's knees. Jesus Christ. He's always been a shitass, but this takes the cake.
Two days gents, two days! The Denver cocksuckers out here are becoming unbearable with team of destiny and no one believes in us bullshit.
Wore my Panthers hoodie to work. There may or may not have been lot's of Cam Superman poses and Dabs.
