Are there better wings in Charlotte than at Moosehead? Serious question, if anyone thinks of some that are on the same level, I need to try them.
You are correct. Beestings are incredible. Hadn't had them in years but I can only assume they are still the GOAT.
Also, city of Charlotte now owns Eastland Mall. They're gonna turn it into a movie studio and sound stage.
Can't find the real official CLT thread, but I am an alcoholic. I watched Homeland tonight (well, and last season) and knew right away that the bar they were at was Ed's Tavern. Looked it up, and I was sure as hell right. Not sure how I feel about this.
I'm going to Kennedy's but that's primarily because its right by my place. It's $60 all you can drink (whatever you want) plus food. Fuck the epicenter or whatever place charges an equally expensive cover without including drinks.
Never once had success with an all you can drink ticket nye. Always ends up being too crowded to get served. Just chilling in noda this year ...
Was thinking about doing one of those all you can drink tickets at Town Tavern or Prohibition but I don't really know what to expect. I've been to Prohibition a few times but it was always on weekdays so I have no idea.
I've gone to Dilworth Bar & Grill's and enjoyed it. It might be too pricey now though. I've also ended up at Brazwell's and it was no cover and not that crowded.
That's not going to happen at Kennedy's, IMHO. We got tickets last week and they gave us vouchers @$60 instead of $65 and those tickets say <December 7, 2012. This tells me they haven't sold that many. Add to that the fact Kennedy's has two bars, and I think it should be OK.
I would strongly suggest you don't do that. You will need to triple fist, as getting to the bar will be nearly impossible.
Had a good time at Town Tavern. We had a solid pregame and got there early in case of a big crowd but the bar never got too bad. Cops came in around 11 and were raiding a shit ton of bottles... apparently they didn't pay correct taxes on them or something and someone tipped them off and they got confiscated. It was pretty wild.
So true. I grew up going to that store and had amazing amounts of material for the ol spank bank, even back in the day before it got as "ritzy" as it is now.
They need to hurry this the fuck up LAKELAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Publix Super Markets Inc. announced it has signed a lease for a second store in the Greater Charlotte, North Carolina area. I have heard of these stores, and that their subs are awesome ... do I have that right? Are they like a high class Food Lion or directed competition for Harris Teeter?
i'm excited, though i've grown partial to the Shitty Kitty while the Plaza-Midwood Teeter has been under construction ...
For any native Charlotteans, the GOAT children's toy/bookstore, Black Forest, is closing. Used to be on Cherokee in Myers Park. The article says it moved a couple years ago. I used to love going there as a kid and picking up some of those tiny metal knights. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/20...t-books-toys-to-close.html#storylink=misearch
Lol at thinking anything in Cotswold is better than something in MP(or Dilworth or Eastover for that matter). You are correct about Laurel Market. They sold 15 year old Ray McKigney beer and cigarettes without batting an eye.
Clearly not a true Charlotte native. MP is obviously infinitely better than Cotswold. However, Toy Castle, which in the mid 90s became All-Stars, was unquestionably the GOAT toy store in the city. Kids came from far and wide to browse and blow whatever money they had. Everything in Black Forest was was education-themed, overpriced, and it had a shitty selection. If my parents ever bought me a Christmas present from there, I would have run away from home. Shit, BF wasn't even the best educational toy store in the City. That honor went to Bedford Falls. on Laurel Market though. The undisputed GOAT quick stop
I take umbrage with the assertion that I'm not a true Charlotte native based on my affinity for BF. Honestly, i don't ever remember Toy Castle, although all stars rings a bit of a bell. We went to Lionel Toy Warehouse on South Blvd for the action figures/ games/etc back in the day. I did really love those knights from Black Forest. Plus it was like 5 minutes from my house so there's that. Overpriced? How would a 6 year old be aware of such a thing? I will concede your point, however, about better places to buy better toys in Charlotte. Black Forest will always have a special place in my heart though.
I live 90 minutes from Charlotte and never go there except for concerts. What would yall advise as cool stuff to do there for a day trip? I heard there's a brewery in NoDa I want to check out
I'm here til the 22nd for work. Staying uptown by the panthers stadium. Anything cool to do around here?
