Yep. I'm going to miss all the fun of prospect camp/tourney, probably Sharp/Bickell trades, the draft. Was lucky to get to stay to see the Cup/parade honestly. Never spent more time (or will spend more time)watching hockey than I did this year waiting to head overseas. Just completely consumed for the last few months. My opinions will take a nosedive in quality from here on in.
Its not going to happen with Title IX and the need to build a new rink unless some big baller comes in and gives them a huge sum of money like happened at PSU. Very frustrating to have a talent base like there is in Chicago and no team at the state flagship university.
Too bad Rocky went to NU. He seems to be about the only guy in this state with money that is interested in growing the game.
Johns is in there. You can replace Jackman with Hannan or almost nay other vet D that wants to ship a chip
JVR makes too much sense but not sure Stan has the assets to get him Toronto would be retarded to trade him with that K. He's basically the same price as Bickell.
Yeah, if there's a way to keep Kruger instead of signing Jackman (replaced by Johns), that'd be beat your dick til the skin is gone type of offseason, IMO.
Can't say I've heard that expression before but I certainly agree with the sentiment. While we're on the topic on sayings, I enjoyed this gem from True Detective last night, "I'm going to butt fuck your dad with your headless mother's corpse next to him on the lawn."
The more I think about it the more i'm realizing Toronto should do a deal like that Sharp/JVR deal. Basically do what the Cubs did during their rebuild. Bring him on, play him half a season, eat 50% of his contract for 1.5 years at the TDL and you can get a monster return on top of the big return they get from us.
.@FLAPanthers GM Tallon interested in drafting wingers, open to trading No. 11 pick http://tw.nbcsports.com/Wmd HERE.WE.GO.
We are thinking binary. Sharp for 11. What if we traded Sharp, Versteeg (very attractive to FL, IMO to combine his cap hits and shove him off somewhere at 4.4, essentially means Sharp only costs 3.7 to them) and McNeill for #11 and some middling prospect.
Does anyone else feel like there is just nowhere great to get good speculation on the Hawks? The beat writers will say nothing until they tweet a deal, the national guys never know anything about the Hawks, TCI does game wraps, SCH just steals my posts. I wish someone could just lay out 5 destinations for Sharp and what we could get for them.
yes, its why I stoop to the point of checking the main HF forum for Leafs fan asking for Teuvo in return for JVR Stan just seems to operate in stealth mode at all times. No insiders worth a shit. Im F5'ing Reilly's sister's twitter account at this point
The draft is in 4 days. There is about to be an avalanche of transactions. And its dead silent out there.
Agreed. It's crickets right now. Part of me thinks Stan has already hammered out the details of Saad's new deal but they are just waiting to deal Sharp before they announce it (don't want to tip their hand or make people think the Hawks have no negotiating leverage).
I don't think the cap number was official until the day of the draft last year. I looked it up earlier and all of the cap announcement articles were on the first day of the draft. It would be nice if they figured it out sooner for once.
Yes but speculation is silly since I think we could do just as good of a job as most. Bowman has that front office locked up like the CIA. Almost nothing gets out of there until its done.
re: Sharp Mark Lazerus @MarkLazerus The Caps sniffed around at the trade deadline. Pittsburgh is interested, too. Sabres and Isles could be interesting.
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 5m5 minutes ago Several teams have shown interest in Sharp. Hawks haven't gotten far yet with anybody. Preliminary talks only so far. Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 6m6 minutes ago My sense is that the Blackhawks are trying first to establish the firm market and then decide how they're going to proceed. Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 5m5 minutes ago Caps are among the teams that have spoken to the Hawks but again, all very preliminary at this point tell me something new damnit
Last year the Hawks hired a ton of scouts to scout drafted players on other teams. Remember seeing Stan saying that they've maxed out their draft scouting (everywhere is covered) and their pro scouting (same) and they wanted to develop a new competitive advantage for the Hawks with their money. Know other teams prospect pools better than they know them (most teams don't scout their drafted players, waste of limited resources). They made a no draft pick trade for Nick Leddy. It's very obscure exactly what kind of value they even got in that trade league-wide. Pokka's value was very vague. Did the same thing with the Clendening deal with Forsling. I wonder if they do the same thing this summer, finding some AHL/Int'l diamonds in the rough where some team doesn't really know what they have. A draft pick has a concrete value. Drafted prospects, not so much. Better chance to fleece someone with you resources.
Mark Lazerus @MarkLazerus So far, I've been told of at least eight teams that have expressed legit interest in Patrick Sharp. Some expected, some less so. #Blackhawks tell us who damnit
Laz says 8 teams are in on Sharp. "Some expected, some less so". I think a sneaky team who could use him is Vancouver. Nice pieces over there.
Florida, Montreal, Washington, Toronto, NYI, Columbus, Detroit, Pittsburgh. Vancouver, Edmonton, Columbus would be my extras.
thats probably spot on Ottawa - too cheap Devils - should rebuild but never know with them Philly - messy rebuild Winnipeg - in the division
Whenever we get to this point getting ready for a trade of a playoff performer with rings I think of last summer when Murray (a GREAT gm) signed Stoner (a 6D with Minnesota) to a 4 year 3.25M deal because he watched him play the Hawks in a playoff series and thought he had the "stuff" to compete in the playoffs. These GMs put a lot of stock in cups, leadership, playoff performance and just general shit that the average fan can't see on the NHL stats page. Pretty stupid but I'm getting bullish on Sharp's value.
lmao at Michael Russo's plea to Reilly's camp " -- Mike Reilly situation: I'd assume we're getting down to decision time. It's down to the Wild, Blackhawks and Kings, I believe. Reilly has canceled a visit to Pittsburgh and there's no trip planned there on his docket. As I've stated before, in terms of skilled, young defensemen in the Wild organization NOT in the NHL, Gustav Olofsson is the only top-tier prospect and he missed basically all season for Iowa last year with a shoulder injury. So Reilly would parachute in atop the D depth chart. The Wild believes wholeheartedly in Reilly's ability and mature game. While most young kids coming out of college would need minor-league time to adjust to the pro game, it's very clear that the Wild would give Reilly every opportunity to make the team out of camp next season if he chooses in Minnesota. As of now, the Wild has an open slot at third pair left D"
I like that Rychell + #34 for Sharp proposal on HF bet we get something sweeter, but thats a good floor scenario.
I don't love anything in this "article" on Mike Reilly. I hope the LA guys are just creating BS to justify losing him. http://mayorsmanor.com/2015/06/kings-and-mike-reilly-may-have-hit-a-serious-snag/ I abhor promised playing time. What do you say to Paliotta, Pokka, etc. I think it's an awful precedent can can create some seriously negative rivalries in the room.
Hope we get that Saad contract in the next 48 hours. I'm hoping for 4 years $18 mil (4.5 per). I'd be perfectly happy though if they wanted to buy out a couple of years of free agency and do like 6 years $33
https://www.hockeyscap.com/armchair-gm/team/5342 I put Gleason in there not because I think they'll sign him but as a low cost vet that I think they'll sign. Really they need to move Bickell and Sharp and they are fine
