Aldridge > Love and Aldridge spaces the floor every bit as well and is an actual threat with his back to the basket.

You don't have to shoot threes to space a defense efficiently.

I definitely agree Aldridge > Love which is why I said Portland would say no if it didn't sound so much like he was leaving. I love Aldridge as a player but I openly admit I don't watch much Western conference when the games start as late as they do so maybe he spaces the floor better than I thought.

Either way it was all completely hypothetical and both teams would prefer Aldridge because he's simply the better player

Only way would be sign and trade. Cavs can't sign a free agent other than tax payer exceptions

This would be best case scenario for the Cavs.

Also thinking they need to let Tristan walk. He's a beast on the offensive boards but you can't pay this many guys, especially when Mozgov is going to demand a monstrous contract soon also.

Sign and trade with Love while keeping TT would be my choice if we're moving parts. Only because I think you get more for Love than you would for TT.

I mean they have guys that can play D in the post, his rebounding would be missed but Andy is pretty solid at rebounding for the 15 games a year he's healthy. I'd just rather see tehm move Love for a 2/3 that can score and play defense and throw a gaggle of rebounders in at the 4/5. Obviously this is in a perfect world.

As long as Gilbert wants to pay the tax I want my cake and eat it too, so give me love and tt and give Moz a raise. Hell max delly cause as long as lebron is going year to year and Gilbert is paying the tax there is no way we will be able to change the team much.

The Cavs will never have a great offense if they have to play Mozgov and Tristan together. You also can't stagger them well enough to make it worth it to be paying them both near max deals imo.
Kyrie - 3+D Guard - Lebron - Love - Mozgov is a title WINNING closing games lineup.

I agree that you'd get more for Love in a S+T, but that's just because Love is better.

Agreed, but I don't think anyone thinks TT is playing more than a 10-15 minutes on the court with Moz. Bron is 2 years away from being moved to the 4 IMO. That's my biggest problem with signing Love/TT at the same time. They are clogging up the position it makes the most sense for LBJ to spend his twilight years.

Agree here, but Love is a pretty atypical 4. Lebron can likely guard most 3's for the rest of his career so the only side of the court it really matters it won't be an issue. Not like either of those two cause spacing issues since they can sink 3's.

You'd also stagger minutes pretty heavily with those 2, likely always have one of Lebron/Love on court and start/finish games with both. Pull Love after 5 in the 1st, let him close 1st start second, sit middle of 2nd when Bron back in, close quarter together, etc.

Completely forgot about Andy in all this. Just too many bodies at the 4/5.

The only thing that contract has going for it is that in years 2 & 3 if the cap jumps to a projected 89 and 108 million, 10 million a year will be about average. Right now it looks like shit when they are paying him 1/6th of the cap. When it's 1/10th we won't even give a shit.

I don't understand the too many bodies at the 4/5 argument if we all agree that resigning the players is our only option.

Meaning Andy would just make a better Perkins. I get the Love sign and trade part but get a wing who wants to win.

This roster isn't as short as it looked due to injuries.

    Kyrie, Shump, LeBron, Love, Moz
Delly, JR, mid level vet , tt Andy

Sasha Kaun – announced retirement from European basketball

Kaun won the 2008 NCAA title with Kansas before he became the 56th overall pick in the 2008 draft. He has played his entire professional career with Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow, who this season won their fifth consecutive VTB United League title. Kaun won the 2013/14 VTB United Defensive Player of the Year award along the way as well. This season he averaged 10.5 points per game in the VTB and 9.9 points per game in Euroleague play. CSKA lost to Olympiacos by two points in the Euroleague semifinals but were able to regroup and win the third-place game against Fenerbahce. Kaun’s rights are owned by the Cleveland Cavaliers and he is moving back to the U.S. to pursue an NBA deal.

The Nets and Spurs are among the teams checking in with the Cavs on a possible deal for the rights to sign center Sasha Kaun, sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports (on Twitter). Kaun is set to leave Russia for the NBA this year.

Kaun played under Cavs coach David Blatt on the Russian national team and Cleveland was previously giving thought to signing him this summer. The 30-year-old Kaun, who played for CSKA Moscow last season, recently “retired” from the Russian League. Kaun was originally drafted in 2008 by the SuperSonics — the last draft pick made by the franchise before moving to Oklahoma City — and his rights were later traded to the Cavaliers for cash considerations.
