ESPN FC @ESPNFC now3 seconds ago #CFC see £30 million John Stones bid turned down by #EFC - sources: http://es.pn/1gTKRNc
It's kinda weird that the club acknowledges rumors, over here everything has to be super official @Everton: PAPERS: Ukrainian linked to Blues once more as Martinez praises youngsters http://t.co/grHfSUU6rf
It's weird just how bad Jose wants him. Stones is someone you buy thinking 3-4 years down the road. Based on their track records, there is pretty much zero chance Mourinho will still be at Chelsea 4 years from now.
yea i was thinking the same thing. You'd think they'd be going hard on more polished players...not "potential". But maybe with the loaded Europe schedule and whatnot he just wants the young depth really badly.
For not much more, he could literally have his pick of any defender in the world that doesn't already play in the EPL for that kind of money.
Yeah it cracks me up every time I see City acknowledge this stuff. Such a contrast from what we're used to
Anyone listen to Everton Fan Focus? Just listened to the second part about the ownership and fan malcontent. Did realize it was that bad. Would you compare this to how redskins fans feel about Dan Snider? but cheaper?
. Havent listened to this one, but started listening to Not Bitter, Just Better and it's waaaaay better than The Followtonians. I was wearing my Lukaku shirt from two years ago last night and had a guy point out that he isn't number 17. I was rather impressed. I should make it a makeshift Mo Besic shirt. I have a Number 10 from last year that isn't as ugly but it's long sleeved. Too hot out for that.
Not Bitter? Is that an Everton based pod? Fan Focus is better than Folllowtonians. Still a bit dry but doesnt have that nerd from Kansas CIty. edit: Found it, and it is an Toffee pod. Looking forward to checking it out
It might get to the point where it would be foolish to turn it down. But then again, when everyone knows you have all that money it makes negotiations with other teams way more difficult. And the message it's sends to the fans wouldn't be good for the bottom line either.
People would riot to be honest. The problem is Kenwright, despite being a true Evertonian, has said for about the past 15-20 years that he was trying to sell the club. But for something with the marketability of Everton, we haven't ever seen potential buyers. So people are getting restless. There is zero investment in the team, the stadium (which hasn't been renovated in like 40 years, or any finincial business's like selling. 5-10 years ago this made sense because we were trying to stay out of debt and go the way of Leeds/Pompey/ etc. but that isn't the case anymore with the new TV deals and our jersey sponsorship.
If they accepted a £40 million offer for him but our depth at CB was actually existent, I wouldn't have a problem with it. But since we're in the position if we sell him, our chances of finishing in the top half are zero, I would be among the rioters if I lived on Merseyside. The fact that we are ranked 20th in net spending this transfer window kind of pisses me off. The TV money has taken care of Lukaku's fee, so just exactly where is that money going?
The fact that we haven't even sold anyone and still rank last in net spending is even more maddening. If we sell Stones, the gap between us and whoever is 19th will be enormous.
After hearing how much Shaqiri is making at Stoke, I'm glad we didn't get him. He's making nearly double what our highest earner makes. There'd be a lot of pissed off players on our club that a player that really hasn't even proven himself yet makes so much more than them.
Decent little article http://www.dailypost.co.uk/sport/sport-opinion/everton-fc-fans-deserve-answers-9889547
Did you guys follow the twitters during Yarmelinko's game today? Pretty funny shit like: @TheEFCForum: Yarmolenko hattrick and 2 assists...... But does he track back?
And: @nsno: Yarmolenko just mouthed "феноменальний характер" to his manager. Read into that what you will. Ahem!
Sisqo Messi with the start @Everton: Everton XI (to face @MCFC): Howard, Galloway, Jagielka (c), Stones, Coleman, Barry, McCarthy, Cleverley, Barkley, Kone, Lukaku. #EFCvMCFC
Funny how Everton signs a defender and the media all say it is a Stones replacement when they haven't even replaced Distin and Alcaraz
sloppy at times, but they've put some offense together at times. THat free kick by Rom was so close. THat would have been huge heading into the half
I'll be happy with a draw. But I'm good with what we've done this half. Ross getting on the ball in good pockets. Now if the entire media would stop trying to sell John Stones to Chelsea
I don't think we did in the second half. Sloppy and not creative and possession. Always beaten to 50-50 balls (which is the more irritating thing). We gave City all day to do what they wanted.
Yeah. Felt like they had all day to do whatever they wanted. Meanwhile while we had the ball in the offensive third - no time
They were doing what all teams who shut us down do. Press us high and let us cough it up in the midfield when Barry fucks up then counter.
Not great but we were one touch away on a few chances that looked promising. Some bad decisions though too especially on one-twos. Sucks to waste a solid Howard performance tho. Deserved to lose 5-1 maybe. Stones looked really good. Barkley never got space which I'm sure was city's plan.
