Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread Jonathan Dos Santos renews contract until 2012 with FC Barcelona 06/02/2010, 8:43pm (PDT) By Erik Sanchez The 20 year old Mexican midfielder signs a 2 year extension with the club On Wednesday FC Barcelona locked up one of their prized youth stars in Jonathan Dos Santos. The younger brother of ex-Barcelona player Giovanni Dos Santos, Jonathan has spent most of the 2009-2010 season with Barcelona B. Though he has appeared in three games with the senior squad and had been called up a handful of times to train with the club by Pep Guardiola. The new contract signed by Dos Santos extends his contract until 2012 with a buyout clause of 30 million euros. It has been a week of mixed emotions for Jonathan as he was cut from the Mexican national squad earlier in the week by head coach and ex-Atletico manager Javier Aguirre. The decision by Aguirre to cut Jonathan sparked a backlash by the Dos Santos family. There is talk that older brother Giovanni may quit the national squad just one week ahead of the World Cup in protest of the decision. Barcelona next are working on new contracts for youth players Thiago, Gai Assulin and Marc Bartra. It is believed that Thiago will be signing his contract extension early next week.
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread Villa rocking the emo mohawk and soulpatch screams epic faggoty douche but kid can ball.
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread that's his signature look. i'm so pumped for this signing, even more so from when we signed henry
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread Not a huge soccer guy, but playing fifa all the time, and the world cup coming on I'm starting to get addicted. I guess you can add me to the barca fan club. ibra balls out in my manager mode, regardless if he's good or not for the real team.
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread who else should i root for? Barca is the bandwagon, right? I feel bad pulling for them, but they are the only team i really know.
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread I think I might be a wolverhampton fan. Yall are fucking hostile on this board to newbies
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread Just root for whoever the hell you want. Most of the people on this board have no connection to their teams and are bandwagon anyway.
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread the reason people are hostile is because you were picking a team because of fifa 10. take the time to actually watch teams play and decide what you like
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread Have I mentioned Villa is going to rip shit up? Messi + Villa + Pedro up top =
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread Yaya Toure looks to be England bound if the price is right 06/03/2010, 6:18pm (PDT) By Erik Sanchez Manchester City look to be close to signing Yaya Toure but Barcelona are asking more than the offer. TV3 is reporting on Thursday evening that the 27 year old Ivory Coast midfielder will be joining his brother Kolo at Manchester City. The Spanish news channel is saying that Toure’s has reached an agreement with the club for a reported 20 million euros. However, Barcelona’s asking price has been 35 million so we will have to wait and see if the transfer will be made in the coming days. Toure’s agent did not miss giving a parting shot to outgoing president Joan Laporta regarding the hefty price tag saying that it was way too much for a player that they chose not to play very much this past season. It has been rumored since the end of the season that midfielder Yaya Toure would be leaving Barcelona for the Premiership. There was constant speculation that Toure had fallen out of favor with head coach Pep Guardiola following statements by both player and agent over playing time.
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread Xavi: “Cesc would triumph at Barça”www.fcbarcelona.cat The midfielder would be delighted if Cesc Fàbregas were to join him at FC Barcelona, saying he has the club’s DNA in his body. They are very similar footballers, they play together for Spain and would love to do the same for Barça. Xavi and Cesc. The Arsenal star has been saying for some time that he would love to play for FC Barcelona one day and Xavi would welcome him with open arms. “I’d love him to come; I’ve already told him that. He is a footballer with Barça DNA. I have doubt that Cesc would triumph at Barça”. Big demands Xavi has won five Ligas, two Champions Leagues, a Copa del Rey and a Clubs World Cup with Barça. “I am having a great time, but I can’t stop. The demands are big, everyone wants to come to Barça and the team is getting better every year. You have to play ten out of ten, you have to play perectly”. World recognition Xavi is now one of the best players on the planet, but it was not always so certain that there would be such a happy ending. “When I joined the first team things were difficult. They compared me with Guardiola, the team wasn’t doing well and it didn’t look like we were good enough for the Camp Nou … But I have a strong mind, I always knew I could be a success and I gradually started playing a bigger role. Now I’m recognised all over the world, and that’s fantastic”, said Xavi. On Messi and Mourinho Asked about Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo, Xavi made it clear that “I have no doubt that Messi is better. Cristiano is a fantastic footballer, but Leo’s better. He is undoubtedly the number one”. As for Mourinho at Madrid, Xavi said “I wish him the best. I respect him a lot. I know how much character he has and for me he’s a great person”. Barça mark on national side The Pep Guardiola style is synonymous with success. So much so that it seems to have been imported into the national team’s plans. That is no surprise, for seven of Vicente del Bosque’s squad hail from FC Barcelona. “We play technical football and we have the best players in the world to do that with. Cruyff said that you could defend with the ball and he’s right. Spain’s philosophy os the same as Barça’s”.
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread according to sportbild.de, barcelona has contacted werder bremen about mesut ozil :D
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread So does anyone have any thoughts on our new president? I mean, everyone knew it was coming from a mile away, but still...
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread He had a huge falling out with LaPorta back in the day when they used to be besties. His biggest campaigning effort has always been about getting spending back in order, and has tended to exaggerate Barca's spending numbers to do so. He also thinks there needs to be more of a democratic approach taken to all of the input towards the club, etc. That's what I was able to pick up over the last year or so. He won with the highest percentage of votes ever. So I guess that's a good thing?
Re: Viva Villa: official FC Barcelona thread Well we just basically gave Shakhtar Donetsk 10 million euros. Chygrynskiy just transferred back to them. Just some horrible transfers from last summer with Ibra being as horrible as he is.
