Been to quite a few DU banquets. As a kid I'd go with my dad, his friend would get drunk and win all the items at auction. He'd then wake up the next morning with a bunch of ugly paintings, and a couple of guns he didn't remember... but he loved winning.

yea, I've been to a few, some are better than others. My dad and I used to go to one that was both awful and awesome. It was at a local clubhouse, I think 80% of the people there smoked and there was no ventilation, the food was pretty good, and the entertainment was gambling and local strippers/hookers. They did a performance one year with a double dildo that was quite artistic. There were typically a few fights in the parking lot. Good times. We go to a Whitetails Unlimited banquet in Dundee Mi every year, they give away a ton of guns.
Never heard of Whitetails Unlimited before, but I see there is a banquet in my area in March. What type of guns are being given away? Anything decent?
they do a bunch of diff giveaways. you can buy a book of tickets and each item has a bucket you can put tickets in. it's all kinds of stuff, from a spot light, rifle scope, gloves, tackle box, and a few guns. Typically in that group there are some shotguns, maybe an AR. then there are individual raffles. There are 2 tables of guns. each table has a variety; handguns, shotguns, ARs, rifles. Table 1 is "lower end" under $500 guns. Table 2 is better quality, $500-$1,000 stuff. Raffle for table 1 is $10/ticket, once they sell 50 tickets they draw. Table 2 is $20, once they sell 50 they draw. That drawing repeats all night long. When you win, you get your choice of any gun on the table, and the dealer can even give you a $500/$1,000 voucher to come in and pick a different gun from their store. Then they will have some specialty raffles, like the "gun of the year" drawing. $5/ticket, unlimited number of tickets sold, draw at the end of the night. A 3-gun raffle; a AR, a shotgun, and a rifle, where you draw a card and the face value of the card is the # of tickets you get. 1st winner gets choice, 2nd winner gets choice, 3rd winner gets whatevers left. Also a table gun draw. Each person at a table of 10 gets a number. they draw a number, and that number at each table wins a gun. Usually a .22 rifle or something. a few more too that I might be forgetting....
please let it be true, so what do I feed it ? The fox likes cat food, do you think the coyote would too?
Feed it 55 grains to any part of the body. Coyote hunting last weekend was a bust. Our first set, we called in a pack, but they hung up out of range. 2nd and 3rd set were blah. The last set, we had 2 come in at 60 yards, but the other guy rushed his shot and missed. After a few minutes, we packed up to head out and they started howling at us. They were probably 75 yards away, but were on the other side of some thick timber so we couldn't see them. We started calling again and we were howling back and forth with them for about 15 minutes. Pretty cool stuff to be out in the middle of nowhere at 3 am with just you, a gun, and a few angry coyotes howling at you.
not sure why on earth you would want to feed a coyote- but agreed it will probably go after the fox or any of your animals. I would shoot that thing if it shows up pretty regularly.
I don't want foxy hurt........... My dogs would fuck it up......... As for regular, it's the 1st I have seen it so it could be just passing by........
Your dogs would be fucked up I think is what you are trying to say My bro in law shot 3 of the bastards a couple weeks back in our field. First time the calls actually worked to bring them in and 2 in one night then another a few days later.
Coyotes are skittish and would probably just run away but lol at comparing domesticated dogs to something that kills to survive Coyotes kill smaller dogs, goats, sheep, cats, deer, etc to live....not eat dog treats
What size dog are we talking here? There are lots of breeds that would completely fuck a coyote up, and lots that at the very least would create a draw to where the coyote isn't eating or killing the dog.
I say this joking So if it kills to survive if I keep it fed with tasty cat food it will not have to kill to live, it will become complacent and not a threat to my dogs........... sorry, just having fun. I think it's cool that I live in a pretty populated area and have the fox and deer and coons and stuff but whatever the heck this thing was it was pretty scary, i really don't want something messing with my dogs.
Oh no doubt... Coyotes wouldn't confront and would run away from them. Point is coyotes are killing machines. They kill small dogs from suburban neighborhoods all the time. People like them and think they are cool until their cat and miniature pincher goes missing.
Yea like any wild animal if you let them feel comfortable they will start testing their limits. Then more will come.
we had one carrying a fawn in front of our cameras last spring. Hear them howling and running the mountain tops of our hunting spot every year. Only ever gotten 1 and that was last year.
I shot a coyote right between the eyes a couple years ago- it was pretty cool. Deer hunting and all of a sudden all the deer started acting funny staring at the woods and ready to bolt- they take off and I look where they were looking and a yote steps out and starts stalking towards where they were- facing me. Dropped him... tied a rope around his legs drug him to the nearest creek and cut the rope- I don't even like touching those smelly bastards.
Not sure how they got a bad rap. They kinda earned it. They can pretty much decimate a population of deer and Turkey if left uncontrolled. I have a picture a couple of pages back of one I shot a few months ago- she came into the field at the same time a nice 8 point walked out.
team fuck coyotes would have gotten a gobbler last year (or maybe year before) if weren't for those assholes
Their reputation as a highly effective and extremely adaptable predator is rightly earned. I just don't like them killing my deer, turkeys, and pheasants. And they're bringing close to $50 prime right now. Red fox is only at $16.
