No news on Grant getting sacked today. Which is actually news in itself. Chris Hughton will not be unemployed for long. Sheffield United have already offered him a job and his name has been heard with Ipswich. And I don't think it is a coincidence he was in the stands to watch Fulham's winless streak continue.

If the Davids want to make a move for Hughton, they need to do it soon. I'm sure Hughton would want to have control of whatever team he chooses by the start of the winter transfer window.

If Grant makes it to Jan 2, the feeling is that he will likely finish the season.

I've heard rumors he needs to win the next two or one out of the next three. No way he gets back to back away wins. One out of the next three is as close to a gimmie as you can get with Wolves coming to Upton Park on new year's day. (Sorry, prerecordedlive)

It sounds like it will either be Allardyce or Hughton who replace him. I'm pulling for Hughton, but either one will be an improvement.

Ahhh, Boxing Day. When the bottom of the league plays the 17th place team and the entire country will be watching.

Mixed feelings on this game. A loss might get The Irons a new manager sooner, but Fulham is a very drawable game. I bet the 1-1 draw.

Not the best game and maybe they didn't deserve to win, but 3 points is huge. First away win since opening day last season.

Avram will be safe for awhile. The winter transfer window will be interesting. Do the Davids have enough faith in Avram to give him the money he wants???

Re: *Official West Hammerstein United Thread (1:1:11, aka prerecordedlive v Bigzig)*

Beautiful day in London. Taking the fam to Upton Park for our last game before we move back. Seeing how I have never been at a match that West Ham has won, really pulling for three points today. Plus the very slim chance of not going down requires three points today.

Pablo Barrera is starting today. If him and Parker can get clicking today, I like our chances. Cole is starting too. Who knows what impact he will have.

Odds for the game: West Ham 10-11 (A little movement as I got evens yesterday), Wolves 3-1 (great odds with the way Wolves have been playing), draw (12-5).

Mick is sticking up for Avram (http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/wolves-boss-mccarthy-says-grant-deserves-better-west-ham-1356131)

    Other random notes:
    • West Ham have won two of their last 46 league games where they were not leading at half-time

    • Wolves's win at Liverpool ended a run of seven away defeats but they have never won consecutive games on the road in the Premier League

    • Blackpool are the only top-flight team to have stopped West Ham scoring in their last 13 home matches

    • Wolves have attempted more crosses (468) than any other Premier League side

    • West Ham have the worst shooting accuracy (33.5%) in the division this season

Re: *Official West Hammerstein United Thread (look at who is not in the drop zone)*

Pretty good game by the Irons. Somebody get Robert Green and Scott Parker an Advil cause their backs hurt from carrying the team. So glad to see Green with a clean sheet. Watching Parker, it is so easy to see the talent gap. West Ham needs to make some moves in this transfer window because Parker really needs some help.

I don't know what Junior Stanislas deal is, but that guy was a fucking shit show. His play was just one non-stop . At one point he was wide open on the wing and whoever had the ball just looked at him and instead of passing to him went straight upfield. I guess whoever had the ball had seen enough of his shit that day.

And I have had about enough of Carlton Cole too. He had one good shot on goal the entire game. Obinna has his issues, but I would rather see a striker duo of him and Piquionne.

Thanks. It was the only sports related bright spot on the day. Michigan State gets a prison rape and Gray Maynard gets robbed, not a good start to the New Year.

I am pretty confident he stay for the remainder of this season. If he stays after that depends on if the club brings in talent. I don't think they Davids mind opening up their wallets, but I just don't know if Avram will bring in the proper pieces.

Re: *Official West Hammerstein United Thread (look at who is not in the drop zone)*

This is why I hope to see the EPL structured like the Bundesliga soon. I know there's a lot more parity than usual this year, but as far as I'm concerned, the teams down in our part of the table know how to spend responsibly and got to the premier league and smart personnel decisions and budget players. As it is, teams like west ham, wigan, fulham, etc. have zero chance of winning the league while over in Germany, Mainz has a legitimate shot at both winning the league and qualifying for the champions league 2 years removed from a runners-up promotion.

That hurt. Was not expecting a win, but our GD just went from -11 to -16.

On a somewhat interesting note... Between Carling Cup matches and an EPL game, Irons play Birmingham three times in three weeks. Mark it, Irons win both Carling Cup matches and lose the one that really matters.

It sure looks like the Davids are going to fuck this up. It is Monday morning and they still have not sacked Grant. The players have an off day today, so maybe it will be late afternoon announcement. If they can't land O'neill, the question becomes do they still pursue Martin Jol? Rumors about Allardyce and Hughton seemed to have faded, so I guess those two are not interested.

They have to make some move because if they hold on to Grant that is like concedeing the rest of the season.

How fucking stupid can you be? You already have a yellow and when you score a goal, you jump into the crowd. Maybe is it was in extra time I could understand, but in the 85th minute??? Then Avram pulls Sears off (after he had been in the game for 9 minutes) and puts in Reid. Leaving us with no strikers left in the game.

Probably would have been out of the drop zone at the end of the day with 3 points, but instead Irons are again at the bottom.

Hate to say it, but you guys might stay up. It's boiled down to essentially a 6 team race to stay up.
    Wolves
    Wigan
    West Ham
    West Brom
    Blackpool
    Birmingham

Don't think there's any chance Everton or Aston Villa stay that far down.

Re: *Official Irons Thread (Can a Irishman & African save our season???)*

Stupid mother fuckers. Da Costa fucking around by not clearing the ball leads to a free kick. Upon which Noble thinks he is in the Superbowl and knocks the fuck out of somebody, leading to another free kick real deep. Considering BC are actually pretty good at set plays maybe not the best move. Then Bridge forgets he should be on the other side of Zigic, so he gets the easiest header in Upton Park history.

WTF was grant thinking pulling off Freddie to bring in Cole??? Cole has not done shit in EPL games.

One good note, Ba looked good. If Grant is going to pull Freddie, put Ba in first. I'd like to see how a combo of Keane & Ba work out. Couldn't be any worse.

Re: *Official Irons Thread (19th place, take that Wolves)*

"Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier is considering a move for West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green as a replacement for Brad Friedel, who is set to return to the United States in the summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

Green is thought to be valued at around £6 million, but whether the Hammers are in the Premier League or not next season could affect the price.

West Ham will not be keen to let their No.1 leave the club, but he is thought to be one of the highest paid players at Upton Park and this could tempt them into selling.

Co-owner David Sullivan has said in the past that any player at the club could potentially leave, apart from vice-captain Scott Parker."

I don't see him going to Aston Villa, but I could see him elsewhere next year (even if we stay up). I'd hate to see him go, but I would rather have an average keeper and two top tier defensemen rather than the England's #1 and dog shit we have out there now.

Oh, and thanks again to Wayne Bridge for fucking up. Inability to clear the ball kept Green from getting another clean sheet.

Really poor play today. Only won a handful of contested balls. Next to no aggression. Just a sad performance all around.

I was hoping all the Stoke talk about Ba was sour grapes, but I have a hard time believing he was being "rested" today. No way we stay up with out him.

So it took me a few days, but I backed away from the ledge.

I am not on of those guys who points to the refs, but no way Upson should have been called for that handball. His hand was inches away from his leg and his hand never made a move for the ball. Total BS call. The PK awarded for Cole was close. I could see it go either way, but Upson's was clearly the refs giving Man U one back.

The road to stay up will be tough, but good for us, Blackpool's road is even tougher. Have to beat Villa at home and Wigan on the road.

Re: *Official Irons Thread (Carlton Cole < Quadriplegics)*

Just got done watching the game on DVR (shift work sucks). Carlton Cole should not see the pitch again this season. He has shown time and time again, he brings nothing to the table. Twice if he would have passed to Ba, Irons would have scored. The second time was either one touch or pass to Ba, and of course he choose neither. Keane, Freddie, Obinna. Any of them would be a better choice than Cole.

For as much shit as I give Wayne Bridge, he played a good game today. In full disclosure I turned it off after the second Chelsea goal, so he might have gone to shit for all I know. But... He probably saved a goal against Eissen. Best play I have seen out of him all season.

Anyone notice that the sprinklers were truned on at half??? Just what thay swamp needed today, more water.

Scott Parker plays the last two games and I honestly think we at least get two points, possibly four. He needs to get healthy fast.

Two winnable games left. @ Wigan and Blackburn @ Upton Park. Win those and a SLIGHT chance of staying up. I'm not betting on it though.

Another shit day from Cole. Another day with no emotion from the manager. And now we have Robbie Keane possibly costing us the season.

Still a chance but we need a lot of help. Speaking of, thanks to Villa and Spurs.
