Re: *Official Irons Thread (Thanks, Robbie)* Just woke up and saw the results from today. Pretty much went from slim chance to no chance. I guess that is what happens when you lose to Birmingham City and Villa at home. Congrats, looks like you guys are just about safe.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Thanks, Robbie)* Still think it would be Hughton. I love the last line of this...
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Thanks, Robbie)* And if they would have done it over Christmas, maybe we wouldn't be in this shit. Hopefully Karen, Carlton, and Robbie are given walking papers too. And did you see the banner??? "Avram Grant - Millwall Legend" That shit slayed me.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Relegators, mount up)* laughed hard at the banner. Good to see Steve Mclaren ruled himself out as a candidate.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Relegators, mount up)* I guess there was trouble with fans at the season end party.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Relegators, mount up)* So it was because a player refused to sign autographs because he were too tired. Glasses and tables along with punches were thrown. Unofficial claims that it was Demba Ba.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Relegators, mount up)* Rearding Ba, "Despite the unsavoury end to the season, both on and off the pitch, the 25-year-old – who has scored seven goals since his January loan move from Hoffenheim – indicated he would take some time before deciding on where he would play next season." He can take all the time he wants, but he aint sticking around Upton Park.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Relegators, mount up)* Cross one name off the list of possible candidates for the job. Paolo di Canio named manager at Swindon Town http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10341~2363667,00.html
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Relegators, mount up)* I am glad to see he got a job in the FA. Paulo has been very vocial about his desire to manage in England. I like him a lot and if things work out for him, I would love to see him back with West Ham. But, he needs to prove himslef first and the front office at Upton Park can not afford to take a risky hire.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Relegators, mount up)* In case you haven't seen this... What the fuck was Pulis watching all season?!?!?!
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Relegators, mount up)* Not sure especially when he has a Cole copy on the bench in Carew that they are trying to sign as well.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Relegators, mount up)* Ba, Der Hammer, Cole, Noble, Green, and ly Parker are gone. I am sure we will hold on to the likes of Freddie and Da Costa And if that does happen, I will fly to London just to punch Karen in her fat tits.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Going out of business sale inside)* Ba was only on loan from Hoffenheim, correct?
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Going out of business sale inside)* No, we signed him to a three year deal.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Going out of business sale inside)* I will be flying back when Millwall comes to Upton Park. Shit is gonna be an unreal shit show.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Going out of business sale inside)* Thanks for the clarification. I hope Lletget starts to get some chances next year.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Going out of business sale inside)* Sounds like Dave Jones could be named shortly. Cardiff fans are rejoicing at the thought. I just don't understand.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Going out of business sale inside)* Sam Allardyce is now the favorite for the West Ham job.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Going out of business sale inside)* So it sounds like Big Sam has accepted the job. But...and this is a big but, O'Neill remains the board's #1 choice. O'Neill is reported to be giving his decision on Monday. Earlier in the week, David Sullivan revealed that a candidate had already turned down the job. It is unknown who that particular candidate was. With the way things have been handled, I doubt Monday will be a smooth one.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Going out of business sale inside)* I heard he(Allardyce) wants full control over transfers and backroom?
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Going out of business sale inside)* I can't blame him. With as shitty as our office has been, I would want them as hands off as possible. Look at the last transfer window. Picking up Ba was a good gamble, but Bridge and Keane were flops. And they weren't cheap. Speaking of Ba, apparently he has been offered a 50% wage increase to stay. Also, Der Hammer has been offered the captaincy to stick around.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Going out of business sale inside)* I would be shocked if he stayed. I know Newcastle is going after him, but I'm sure there's other interest as well
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Going out of business sale inside)* Sky Sources: West Hammerstein to appoint Sam Allardyce as manager on two-year deal. Big Sam reaction: Those jellied eel-eating bastards better let me complete Resident Evil 5 before I start working. I've got Wesker just where I want him
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves)* The good: Kevin Nolan, come on down (I'm still shocked). First signing I feel good about. Abdoulaye Faye has already signed, but forgive me for being a lil worried about a 33 year old defender who was cut by Stoke. He has played for Big Sam twice, so maybe Big Sam sees something most don't. Offical site reports there is another siging on deck (premiership player). Rumor is, West Ham will sign seven new players. The bad: Ba turned down a 50K GBP salary and 500K GBP signing bonus. No suprise. Newcastle & Everton are the most heard names, but since when has Newcastle been willing to spend money? Der Hammer is gone. He was offered the captaincy to stay, but I guess the lure of an armband wasn't enough. Zavon Hines turned down a contract offer, but Big Sam hasn't given up in him yet. The ugly: Scott Parker is all but gone. Worst part, sounds like it could be Spurs.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* Ba will be a Magpie in the next week
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* i'm hoping you guys get back to the PL soon, seeing as my dads side originated like right next to where your guys' club is. Also my friend is going to West Ham-Millwall September 17 because he has a friend who works for West Ham. Trying to get the money so I can go also. Would be pretty sweet imo
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* RIP People will die at that match.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* That match is at Millwall which would give me even less of a chance of surviving My friend works as a trainer/nurse for fans at West Ham's home matches, gonna suck for him when the match is played at Upton Park
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* Good to see Harris might experience a real rivalry.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* hey, that's mean. I was just about to post something nice in your thread, but now, I do not know.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* I might go back Feb 4th for the Upton Park match. Weather is gonna be proper shit though. But West Ham will be a party all damn day. Sept would be a good time to go to London, but you have to know someone to get an away ticket at the den. And there is no way in hell I'd sit with Millwall supporters.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* "West Ham have offloaded Portuguese defender Manuel da Costa to Lokomotiv Moscow for £1.3million." Great news. Other than his headers, he didn't bring much to the fight. As far as getting £1.3million, Irons' front office must have being wearing a ski mask and holding a gun during negotiations. Obianna is already at Lokomotiv Moscow.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* The Potters are looking to offer Cole an immediate return to the Premier League and have reportedly tabled a £3 million bid. Allardyce told The Sentinel: "I believe at this stage that the offer is not good enough. It is not to the club's valuation. *** 3 million GBP. Sam, take the fucking money before Stoke comes to their senses.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* I mean what do people see in him... "Queens Park Rangers have inquired about Carlton Cole, with the newly promoted Premier League club set to make an offer for the West Ham United striker. West Ham would listen to a bid of around £6m plus add-ons, or even consider a further payment should Neil Warnock's side avoid relegation next season." *** In unrelated news of the weird... New West Ham boss Sam Allardyce will place a £2m bid in the hope of securing former Hammers favourite Joe Cole . Considerably down the pecking order at Anfield, and with manager Kenny Dalglish scanning the market for further reinforcements, it is likely the bid will succeed. Interesting, but I don't see where Irons have that kinda money???
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* Cole's wage demand is gonna be more than the 2 mil transfer. Take him please.
Re: *Official Irons Thread (Big Sam Makin' Moves, Say hello to Kevin Nolan)* If Tony Fernandes was still bringing some AirAsia money to Upton Park, I could see them signing Cole or one more big money player, but Tony said him buying a chunk of the club probably will not happen. The only big money player I see a chance at is Scott Parker. With that Turk club offering 10 mil GBP, it will be interesting to see how other EPL clubs go after him.
So Parker has said he is now willing to stay at Upton Park. Then BFS say he has to plan for a season without Parker. Gonna be a strange week. Sunday can't get here soon enough.
So just when I get done dropping F bombs, Nani makes it 3-2 (I bet the draw). Must say, I was impressed with West Ham today. Defense looked solid. Green did most of his work off of set pieces. Had a ton of chances in the box, but just could not finish. As pissed as I am about the outcome, if Big Sam can continue to have the boys put on this type of performance it should be a good season. And for all the worrying about Sam's style, I thought it was a pretty good game to watch.
Sam should get you guys back up this season. Especially if he can keep Parker. How did you get your thread icon back?
Keeping Parker would be huge, but I wouldn't bet on it. Even without him, I like our chances. Other than finishing, I really can't complain about what I saw today. Click on the thread --> On the first page in the upper right scroll over "thread tools" --> click "edit thread" --> there should be a box for icons
Could have used Carew today. I wonder if Sam will switch things up and go Carew and Cole up front? I would call Matty Taylor the best pick up so far.
The Carling Cup match has been called off due to civil unrest in the area. http://www.whufc.com/articles/20110808/aldershot-match-postponed_2236884_2414308
