For reference I my seats would have been expensive as fuck for a baseball game -A bit up the first base side and 15 rows back, and I kind of like being back a bit do you can take in the whole light show.
Scott Marks is raving about this new song they debuted in the first set "waking up dead" can't wait to check it out
Has anybody been out to the phish run at dick's before? About to book a flight, looking for suggestions on a cheap, convenient (but not too shitty) hotel to stay at and any other general advice you may have. Or, on the other hand, has anybody camped it? What is that scene like and whats the weather like at that time of the year? Will we need a rental car or is it feasible to think we could get around on Uber all weekend? All words of wisdom are welcome and appreciated.
This year will be my 3rd year in a row. My crew always always stays at the courtyard on Quebec, which is about a 15 minute drive from the venue. I'd recommend renting a car because the airport is completely across town and would be a very expensive uber ride. The weather is gorgeous and most nights you can get away with shorts and a light jacket. It's comfortable in pants too.
The cheapest plane tickets will be on frontier, but it'll be expensive to fly all of your camping gear out there. There is a best western right beside the courtyard that is cheaper. Stayed there the first year
Looks like the only 3-day passes left are stands; i've heard the stands are a long way back. Will this be an issue? In years past has it been difficult to pick up field tickets night by night? 3-day field passes appear to be pretty expensive on stubhub, vividseats, etc. About to check CoT
Saturday is always a tough ticket for any seat. I actually prefer stands. It's cheaper and not that far from the stage, plus you can sit down during joy
Colorado is an awesome place and you should go. Dicks is a decent ways out of town, and I would want a car to explore the area.
Does anyone else not care for the mixing on Live Phish recordings? I think it may just be that Trey is often too loud when Page or Mike are leading that what's supposed to be rhythm filler overpowers the others. For example I noticed it on Maze towards the end of Page's organ solo. I imagine it sounds much better at the show or from an audience recording.
It's been nice of phish & dead/bro to coordinate set breaks these last few nights. Last few phish shows have been fucking great.
I lack the power of poetry to capture my weekend in words.. Notables night 1: Bumpin' Reel to open set 2, Shine > Sympathy for the Devil > Rosie (nuff said), AMAZING Restless Wind with Tony Furtado sitting in. night 2: Valley of the jig opener set 1, Dudleys, Signed Sealed Delivered, Covered Funky Duck, HOWARD, Outside and Inside, Black Clouds encore. My brain still feels like playdoh and Umphrey's is tomorrow night in Birmingham. A few highlights brought to you by the youtubes.
Last night Joel Cummins mentioned that Umphreys is going to be playing with Widespread Panic in Tuscaloosa. I'm officially allllll over that show. I was already considering it but now I have no choice.
So how many of you guys like TAUK? Saw them this last weekend at a festival and was thoroughly impressed by them. https://soundcloud.com/tauk/sets/tauk-headroom
Not terrible, not great. Should be right up my alley in terms of sound, but I just can't listen to a full set through without getting bored. All their songs sound like jams. Still would go see em if they were in town
Haven't been able to listen much the last week or so, but have heard a lot of negative reviews. Is it really that bad?
That second set is the stuff dreams are made of. Black Clouds encore is nice Also a Vulfpeck cover in there
Whole tour has been pretty rough imo, outside of a few highlights here and there. Cities and Ghost>Light were top notch last night though. Then the sound system blew in the middle of the 2nd set to derail the momentum.
1st set Vultures, Meat, and YEM. Fucking right. This DWD about to crush: http://mixlr.com/the-kush-bush/?ref=tc/
Don't know if anyone cares, but the biscuits are streaming all 6 of their camp bisco sets for free this weekend. Lotus is on right now: http://uphoric.tv/camp-bisco-2016-live-broadcast/
