Just thinking of the possibilities here Super group 1: Marc Brownstein Jay Lane Tim Palmieri Eli Winderman Super Group 2: Aron Magner Rob Compa Adrian Tromantano Bass...idk Nate Edgar (of nth power)
Scored a ticket to see Bob Weir @ the Ryman, and I'll find out about Phish tickets next week, I guess. So I think I'm heading to Nashville in October!
Thought I was getting shut out of the first release for Phish Alpharetta night one, but somehow scored four 3rd row pavs after thirty minutes of hitting refresh. Unfortunately have some lawns to ditch now but that was a pretty tough ticket last time they were there so hoping it will be similar
I'm not super into them, mainly the guys voice. But they've got 2 sets at Lockn next week so I'm going to check them out once at least and give them a shot.
They put out set times for Lockn yesterday with an app release. Turns out Phish has an hour break before both of their shows. Presumably to set up their lights? Would be the first time Lockn hasn't had music going on stage. I think the only time there has been a delay was 2 years ago before Phil and Friends there was maybe 10 minutes of silence. Meanwhile the Super VIP will have Anders Osborne going for them. Kinda fucking blows. But then again, we're getting two full Phish shows likely with the lights, so I can't complain too much. That just sucks to have to sit in the show field with my dick in my hand. Hopefully they'll put on some Circles Around the Sun over the PA or something. Joshuam2107 Who was the other one coming? little cletus you coming to Lockn?
I've gone past the point of being excited for it and now I'm just mentally there. Nothing else is happening in my life between now and then.
Bummed I won't be there but burning my off days on dicks and fall tour, anybody know if there will be a stream?
No clue about a stream for Lockn, but they have been very taper friendly in the past, and I'm sure this year will be no different, so I'm sure something will pop up on mixlr at the least.
I ended up selling my lockn ticket, and I'm going to try to make phish Halloween instead. Nice to see you back on the board
I hope so. I think Trey comes out with Ween on Friday for a couple songs. Roses are Free and then hopefully a couple good jams like Tear for Eddie or something. 25 minute Poopship Destroyer with Trey would be a little too weird, but you never know.
Ween picked some strange ones last night. Jrad rocked. Umph playing as the stage rotated for the first time was sick, and then they fucking slayed. Good first night.
Yesterday was a hot one. Ween with the more typical festival set. Was fairly close by the time Phish started. Enjoyed the hell outta Simple and Space Oddity live gave me a new respect for those a capella songs they do. Never seen Phish with a full light rig, think it was worth the set break before to get it done. Jrad crushed it again last night. Really ready for TTB/MMJ tonight, should finally get some good sit in action. Sad but not surprised there was no ween/phish collab, but did see a sweet pic of Deaner holding Trey's guitar.
The beginning of that JRad set was nice and weird. Phish and Vulpeck were awesome. Charles Bradley was fun to watch.
So pissed I'm missing this year... Gorge was a nice replacement though. Will definitely be at New Years and might try to swing Halloween
Escaped the in-laws (at the cottage) to stream the phish show on my iPad. Perhaps my best decision ever.
Well guys, that was an awesome Lockn. A lot of people going into it were pissed about the date change and the breaks before and during Phish (there is usually no stop in the music longer than 15 minutes), but honestly I think it's clear that Shapiro did what he had to do to get Phish there, and I'm okay with that. I've never seen a Phish show with their own lights really, so them taking the time to get their new rig up and going for Lockn was a good decision to me. Ween blew people away with their brownness on Thursday and then followed it up with a good but standard festival set. Phish crushed both nights. JRAD was great both nights. Phil usually has sounds issues on at least one of his sets, but they both sounded good this year. Keller is always a great way to kick off the mornings. TTB, what else needs to be said, they're amazing. My Morning Jacket blew a lot of folks out of the water, which I knew would happen. With the festival bubble being what it is, I think Lockn did what they had to do this year to solidify themselves as the top jam festival and bringing in new people and new acts people want to see, even if it may have been a little different from years past.
I've basically sworn off music festivals at this point, but I think I would hit up lockn based on the last few years.
Never been a fan due to cost and usually condensed sets. Prefer to see bands on their own. Not opposed to going, but I'm not really into the festival scene.
Was listening to STS9's Interplanetary Escape Vehicle album the other day. They really went a different direction into the rave scene after that. That first album was some solid music, though.
I was absolutely FLIPPING MY SHIT. To list my thoughts in order. 1. My Morning Jacket..ho-le-fuck were we blown away by that one. I have seen them before and I liked their music previously but they seriously fucking crushed that set. 2. Fuck my face. Also that night 1 Ghost was the heat. 3. Joe Russo's Almost dead, both sets. 4. Umphreys is the only band that knew how to properly play up the coolness of the rotating stage. 5. EOTO set was real nice, couldn't stick around for all of it but they had a Vulfpeck "put it in my pocket" jam that was really cool. 6. I caught both Keller Williams sets. Something that is unprecedented for me. I was very happy about this. 7. Friday and Saturday were just tough to get out in the middle of the day for shows. It was pretty damn hot during the peak heat hours. 8. I had issues with the sound all week. Blue Ridge Bowl especially..Lettuce set sounded really quiet to me. Lockn had not nearly enough portajohns for the campsites, only one entry and exit point which caused cattle hearding syndrome after major shows got out. But the festival is truly fantastic otherwise, a very mature festival I felt like.
One hour from Denver airport, got a great crew this weekend but relatively few plans. If anybody is looking to squad up on the lot let me know. Roll tide go phish
Finally starting to wake up and feel normal again, great trip. Easily the best I've ever heard them play in person. Going to be a long 5 weeks until fall tour. Thank goodness for football.
Probably should have bumped the thread, but couch toured the past 2 nights of WSP and tonight was an absolute heater. Jealous Joshuam2107 was there.
