Re: Tough Break Jozy Jozy definitely needs to start getting some consistent minutes, there's rumors of Sporting Gijon and Deportivo looking at him for a loan. The others that are coming: and hopefully....
Re: Tough Break Jozy I just wish it didn't have the shit on the back with the date and what not. It's all for a competition SKC is doing
Re: Tough Break Jozy yeah i am not really a big fan of that stuff, but are they going to be available for purchase?
Re: Tough Break Jozy not sure, I'm a fan of their facebook page and they're doin a "boon boo ree" tshirt competition. I figure the top one will be put up for sale
Re: Tough Break Jozy We should make a MB entry. Although that first shirt would be tough to follow if you took the crap off the back.
Re: Tough Break Jozy I was looking at it and the one that is leading looks pretty stupid compared to the last 2 i put
Re: Tough Break Jozy exactly, which is why I like the first one if it didn't have that gay shit on the back
Re: Tough Break Jozy This exactly shows my point. All of the aforementioned players have never even succeeded at the MLS level or lower. Jozy played in the MLS at 16 and played well enough to get bought by a top tier La Liga team. I obviously hope someone from the striker pool develops into an international quality forward, but the love fest over some of these guys is ridiculous. They've all got potential but you can put all of them together and they haven't accomplished as much as Jozy. O and not to mention Jozy is still only 21 years old! Watching those highlights reminded me of how much Freddy dominated that u-20 world cup. Man I thought he was gonna turn it around after that, and he hasn't done shit since then
Re: Tough Break Jozy hey hush I am allowed to fawn over these young men the same way I loved Jozy when he was 18 and if Jozy comes out and proves that he hasnt peaked in his development, then he will win his way back into my heart but until then, I'm all
Re: Tough Break Jozy Atletico Madrid already tried to make an offer for Agudelo but MLS/NYRB said not right now, and also Stoke was very interested in Bunbury but MLS/KC won't sell yet and he probably wouldn't get a work permit. Then Bobby Wood is breaking into the 1st team of Bundesliga 2 team, and the BL2 is arguably a top 15 league in the world. Also, a report came out today that Arsenal is monitoring Omar Salgado. Though nobody outside of MLS can have him until he's 18, and he'll have a Spanish passport soon, which will eventually make him easier to sell to any club in Europe, provided he progresses to that point. What Jozy's situation proved is don't move to some big Euro club/league just when you turn 18 because you can legally be transfered. Do the McBride, Dempsey, Holden, Edu, Boca route to where you're clearly one of the top MLS players, then move on. Obviously, only a few big clubs could afford Jozy's $10 million, but I think he would've been better off being loaned to Turkey or the Eredivisie instead of Hull. If a young player does move to Europe young, start at a 2nd tier league like what Bobby Wood has done, or the prototype, Michael Bradley in his progression. Also, Mwanga had multiple offers from Europe, but basically turned them down to help with his citizenship process.
Re: Tough Break Jozy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DgOkYb01ZI&feature=related Just came across this video on youtube, what the hell happened to this Adu? Freddy played unreal in the u20 world cup and I thought at the time he was back on track, but it has been nothing but downhill since then. What the hell has gone wrong with him and lets make damn sure it doesn't happen to Jozy and Agudelo.
Re: Tough Break Jozy The move Adu pulled off against Brazil when he was stuck at the corner flag against two defenders was amazing. I wish he could have stayed at the top of his game.
Re: Tough Break Jozy Freddy should have stayed in the MLS for a few more years, he wasn't ready for big time soccer in Europe just yet. Now his skills have plateaued and he probably won't make another WC team. I'd love to kop that Bunbury shirt but no one will know what the hell it means.
Re: Tough Break Jozy A lot for Freddy is that he didn't grow physically and isn't that fast, so he was able to pull stuff like that off against U-20's. But still, he's done shit with the ball at his feet that has never been seen at any ranks of U.S. soccer. He did however get caught in some crappy club situations. Benfica is a pretty damn big club and the first 6 months there, he was like their super sub, scored a few goals and generally played well. Benfica fires the coach and the new coach doesn't give Freddy the time of day. Gets loaned to Monaco the next season because they thought he'd sell jerseys, turns out the coach was the same coach that benched him at Benfica. I think his contract has saddled him mostly lately, gets paid a high salary and it isn't over until 2012. Hopefully he plays well on this loan in Turkey, and that he gets his career back going. Although, I don't think he'll ever be apart of our top USMNT, maybe a "B" teamer if he gets going again. Also, that Uruguay U-20 team that we beat in the round of 16 had Suarez and Cavani.
Re: Tough Break Jozy a couple of years ago I would have sworn to anyone who asked that this guy would have been a consistent starter for the US by now
Re: Tough Break Jozy I have no idea. I'll see if I can find anything out, I know a few people at the Wizards
Re: Tough Break Jozy Was a spot sub and reserve team player. Got loaned to Fortuna Dussledorf and then tore his ACL. His contract was up afterwards, so he came to MLS.
Re: Tough Break Jozy I guess my roommate would but no one else would. Us soccer fans are few and far between
