what is young's role these days? Spoiler Could be any of these A 3rd (maybe 4th) choice left winger A 2nd choice wingback on the left side, covering for Luke Shaw. Starting RB/RWB
He was great for you guys last year and underutilized this season before the injury IMO. He provided much needed width.
All over Twitter that United & Benfica are in advanced negotiations over 18-year old midfielder Renato Sanchez. United have offered 30m & 10m in bonuses.
Wouldn't shock me at all if we never even reached out to him. Ed Woodward is so fucking terrible at his job.
Saving all the money for the next manager to spend in the summer, IMO. I am surprised you didn't bring in some kind of warm body at fullback though.
God I hope so. Was surprised we didn't bring in another fullback too. I mean I love Luke Shaw, and Ashley Young has played pretty well, but you can't leave a gaping whole in the squad just because you like a player that is injured. Good news is that Shaw is supposedly ahead of schedule with his rehab and might be back in March or early April.
Absolutely agree. I'm a pessimist by nature when it comes to sports and I already consider this a lost season anyway. With his history of injuries, I don't want him coming back until he's 100% healthy. I feel bad for Shaw. The guy is just snake bitten and he had arguably been our best player this season when he got hurt.
Think pochettino should be the target come summer. If we really want to harass guardiola than mou it has to be. He is proven he can get into pep's head and at least make it a miserable experience.
Fantastic first half. Got a little sloppy in defense a couple times but the attack has been brilliant. Should probably have a 3rd goal but I'm not complaining at all. Martial has been on another level the last few games.
Of course these guys are having their best game of the season on a fucking Tuesday afternoon when I'm working and cannot watch. They'll lose 5-0 the next time I wake up at 7 on a Saturday morbing though.
Ashton is on PLL right now saying its a foregone conclusion at this point. I hate the Mourinho's personality but anything is an improvement over LVG. We might win a little more, then he will wear out his welcome after two years or so, and hopefully by then the board will finally have the confidence to put Giggs in the job.
What has giggs done to make you think he is gonna be some amazing manager? He's been along for both of these managerial shit shows. You get Mourinho if you can, no questions asked.
I wouldn't necessarily say it's confidence that he will be a great manager. We are talking about a guy who has been with the club for nearly 3 decades, and the majority of that time was spent playing for and learning from the greatest manager in the history of the game. There's arguably no other person in the world who understands what it takes to be successful and how to achieve that success at Manchester United specifically. You can argue the merit of his time under Moyes and LvG but it is still gained experience nonetheless. It's calculated risk more than anything imo.
What did Aberdeen see in Fergie before he won the league for them three times? Giggs has both played with and played for some of the greatest soccer talent in the last three decades. He knows how to identify talent and he knows how winners are coached. At the end of any Mourinho tenure (let's just say it would last, oh, three years) he'd have 5 years as an assistant under two world class managers along with his stint as caretaker after Moyes was sacked.
Playing under a great manager doesn't make you a great manager. Gary Neville played under Fergie too, he isn't exactly lighting the world on fire at Valencia. Comparing him to Ferguson just because he played for him is laughable, if he was so great he would find a way to be helping these teams that have underachieved while on the coaching staff.
Yeah that wasn't the point I was trying to make. The main point I was going for was that, outside of SAF himself, Giggs might have the best understanding of what it takes to succeed at Manchester United. Not succeed as a manager in general but at this club specifically. Obviously that won't necessarily translate to success but there's something to be said for knowing a club inside and out. You can see the manifestation of a culture clash under the LvG reign. Again, it's not that I have confidence that he will be successful but it's a calculated risk that I'd be willing to take.
started off strong but and was dominant first 20 but chelsea stepped up their play after that. so many corners.
That was such a terrible pass attempt by Depay into the box. He had all the room in the world for a square one and tried to force it through.
That pass by Memphis was just awful. Starting to get genuinely concerned that he just doesn't have what it takes to adapt to the EPL. Fully expected the equalizer when they announced 6 minutes of stoppage time though. The announcers placed the blame on Borthwick-Jackson for playing Costa onside but Blind was totally at fault for that goal imo. How do you leave Costa to go cover John Terry outside the 18 yard box?
It's sad that falling stock prices is what it takes to put some real pressure on Ed Woodward. Manchester United shareholders to have their say on club's performances http://www.espnfc.us/manchester-uni...hareholders-to-have-their-say-on-performances
