utdreport.com @utdreport 2m2 minutes ago Anthony Martial's goal was the 1000th Premier League goal scored at Old Trafford. #mufc first club in league to reach that number. [sky]
The interplay between Martial and Rashford is going to be a key to our success for years to come. Its refreshing to have guys on the team that will run at people and try to be creative.
Solid result. Rough having 3 of the back 4 go down in the game though. Smalling and Blind did very well.
Yeah the Blind injury is concerning. Fosu-Mensah had a hell of a game as well. Gonna be a fun race for that 4th CL spot.
Schedule the rest of the season at Spurs at West Ham - FA Cup Replay Villa Crystal Palace Leicester at Norwich at West Ham Bournemouth
Game was pretty damn boring until Fosu-Mensah came on. He added the pace that the game was missing imo.
has anyone ever had so much turnover/unsettling at the LB position? Look how many people (otoh) that have played in last 18 months. Shaw Rojo Blind McNair Borthwick Jackson Blackett Fosu Mensah Darmian
DDG TFM - Smalling - Blind - Rojo Carrick - Schneiderlin Lingard - Mata - Matrial Rashford Team bus is running late so the game is delayed 15-30 minutes. Seems like a solid way to start the game.
Young for Rashford. LVG has to fucking go. Our best forward is playing LW with a 30 LW playing in the #9.
Literally seconds after Fosu-Mensah comes off the guy he would have been marking scores. Fucking fuck.
Fire him now. Put Giggs in charge for the rest of the season. It's simply just not good enough and has been too inconsistent since day 1.
I didnt get to watch today, became a Godfather for the second time. Did LVG really put on Young for Rashford.
What an embarrassing showing. LVG's unwillingness to play Martial at the 9 for the past 2.5 months is baffling. If you're gonna make the change for Rashford you bring Memphis in and play him out wide and move Martial outside (where he should be playing anyways), not play Young at the 9.
Got really excited when I woke this morning and had an ESPN notification on my phone. Disappointed it wasn't that LvG was canned.
Yep, pretty solid team performance. Needed the typical Dave saves to bail us out at times but that is to be expected. Even Fellaini wasn't terrible today.
Played pretty well, but it's an even further indictment of the terrible decision to take Rashford out of the Tottenham game.
Rumors were that LvG ripped him at half time for staying out wide too much, and it didn't sit well at all with the other players.
Nice to have Rooney back, and i think he's playing in a role that better suits him at this stage of his career. He also had a nice ball to Fellaini early on but it had just a tad too much on it. Rashford is such a machine.
Guy that I work with that has forgotten more about the technical and strategic side of soccer than I will ever know put it succinctly today. Direct quote from the conversation we were having regarding, amongst other things, this team's inability to pull away from Villa: I felt the team had no identity.....even when they scored this season it was often so out of rythm, more like individual effort. If they ever got all eleven on the same page for any extended period of time, they would be dominant.
I agree with the first part but I mean just about every top 5-6 team would be dominant if all 11 guys were on the same page. The problem imo is that LvG's style of play is all about mitigating risk and making the safe pass. Outside of Martial and Rashford, everyone else has no attacking mindset and they look afraid or reluctant to take a chance on a pass that could create a scoring opportunity. Instead they just drop it back to the defense and start all over again. Which is fine in some cases but eventually you have to take a chance and really press the action. I mean as bad as Memphis has been this season, at least he attempts to take players on and create opportunities when he is on the pitch.
Final 5 games for the top 4: Manchester United: Remaining games (home fixtures in caps): CRYSTAL PALACE (April 20), LEICESTER (May 1), Norwich (May 7), West Ham (May 10), BOURNEMOUTH (May 15). Manchester City: Remaining games: Newcastle (April 19), STOKE (April 23), Southampton (May 1), ARSENAL (May 8), Swansea (May 15). Arsenal: Remaining games: West Brom (April 21), SUNDERLAND (April 24), NORWICH (April 30), Manchester City (May 8), ASTON VILLA (May 15). Machester United needs Arsenal/City to drop points in one other game besides the game they're playing each other, plus need to win out. Arsenal is in much worse form, but I have a hard time seeing them dropping more than 4 points in those final 5.
Darmian is slow as shit. Valencia has looked great since he's been back tho. He's not a natural right back by any means but it would have been nice to have his pace down the side all season.
We're breathing down the necks of Arsenal & City now. Glad they took advantage of City's draw with a relegation side.
