Imo, valencia has been one of our most stable players over the last 5-7 years.

He made the EPL team of the year a couple years ago.

    Anyone remember this

He's 30 now (and playing well no less) so lets see how he plays over the next year or two. no idea on his contract.

Really need to stop allowing stones to bring the ball up out of the back. It's causing the entire midfield and back line to become too narrow.

    I say this after Wednesday.

    And then LVG does this.

I get that Memphis hasn't been in the best form, but abandoning him still doesn't make sense. I would rather play him/Rashford/Martial on the right out of position than Lingard.

I like Lingard a lot but he has to show a better feel in front of goal to keep his spot. The idea of Martial, Rashord & Memphis could be an elite front 3 for the next 5 years.

I mean I hate being overly optimistic, but if Rashford isn't a fluke and Memphis can become the player that commanded a £25 mil transfer fee again then this attack could be filthy for quite awhile.

And Rooney has fit in really well in the midfield so far. When healthy, this team is too talented to be playing how they have been all season, and that rests solely on LVG.

The only real hole that needs to be filled in the summer is CB, and maybe a LB or RB. Would love to see them go and spend the money to get Hummels.

Manchester United are set to sell Memphis Depay this summer less than a year after signing the winger from PSV, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Memphis has endured a frustrating season at United following his £25 million move to the club, scoring just two Premier League goals in 26 appearances.

And Louis van Gaal has now sanctioned his sale, with United contacting a number of clubs in England and Europe in a bid to offload the 22-year-old for a cut-price fee.

:skepticalhippo: on that for a couple reasons.

    1. I would hope that we would give a 22 year old kid more than 1 season to prove his worth.
    2. LvG won't be selling him if he isn't even with the club next season. (Still not convinced that he won't be fwiw.)

Yeah you really need more than a season at that age to prove your worth sometimes. I'm glad we didn't write off Lamela, and he took 2 season to settle in. You'd probably have to sell him at a loss which doesn't make sense, ride it out and let him have another season to get acclimated to the league. He's shown flashes, if he can become consistent he is a game changer.

You lot are still in the chase for 4th it seems. If you were to win out I think you'd pip Arsenal by 1, that will be a pretty large task though. Leicester home and West Ham away are tough fixtures.

That story has been out there for 2-3 months though. It's just picking up steam now because the season is coming to an end. I mean we could very well have Mourinho already signed to a contract, I don't know. I would just temper your excitement/expectations until it's actually announced by the club. Never underestimate Ed Woodward's ineptitude.

the XI upfront doesn't include 2 of our better players this season: Blind and Mata.

Mata didn't have a great season by his own standards, but definitely better than Lingard or Memphis.

Mata is more of a CAM than a true winger. And Blind isn't a CB despite playing there all season, hence the reason we need another one to pair with Smalling.

I hate getting caught up in transfer rumors, especially this far away from the summer window, but there's been a lot of talk the last 2-3 weeks of United having a deal in place for Benfica central midfielder, Renato Sanches. We have supposedly had scouts at 22 consecutive Benfica matches.
