I doubt it would be anything more than a 1-2 year deal for Ibra, which is worth the risk when there's no transfer fee. Yes, the french league is weak but 38 goals is still quite impressive. I mean Lacazette only scored 21 and Michy only scored 17, and neither of them have to share goals with the likes of Cavani, Di Maria, Matuidi, and Lucas Moura. Lukaku has potential and everything, but that dude becomes pretty lazy whenever it looks like a game isn't going to go his way. If we were going to go after a young striker/forward then I would rather it be Morata or Dybala from Juve. Gonzalo Higuain would be my top choice tho. He's used to no CL with Napoli so I don't think that would play a factor at all.
To the first point, Lacazette and Meechy don't have the team Ibra has behind him either. Second, I agree about the Juventus guys, but I don't see them leaving for a non-UCL team regardless of how short sighted it is. Full disclosure though, I'm a huge fan of Lukaku so I'm probably biased.
No idea, but who cares about Financial Fair Play anyway. FIFA UEFA* has demonstrated time and time again that transfer bans are essentially meaningless when given to top clubs.
Mou also has endorsement deals with vendors that are in competition with vendors that are "official of" Manchester United I believe. That's probably an issue as well.
Zlatan's rather wry response to being asked if he's been offered a contract by MUFC: https://twitter.com/MUFCScoop/status/735799690910965760?s=09
I'm on mobile so apologies if this doesn't copy correctly. MOURINHO APPOINTED UNITED MANAGER • Portuguese coach has won 22 trophies since 2003 José Mourinho will take over as manager of Manchester United from the 2016/17 season, signing a three-year contract with an option to stay at the club until at least 2020. José, 53, has managed at the top level of European football for over a decade and in that time has won league titles and cups in four countries (Portugal, England, Italy and Spain), as well as winning the UEFA Champions League twice – in 2004 with FC Porto and in 2010 with Inter Milan. Announcing the appointment, Ed Woodward said: "José is quite simply the best manager in the game today. He has won trophies and inspired players in countries across Europe and, of course, he knows the Premier League very well, having won three titles here. "I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome him to Manchester United. His track record of success is ideal to take the club forward." José Mourinho said: "To become Manchester United manager is a special honour in the game. It is a club known and admired throughout the world. There is a mystique and a romance about it which no other club can match. "I have always felt an affinity with Old Trafford; it has hosted some important memories for me in my career and I have always enjoyed a rapport with the United fans. I’m looking forward to being their manager and enjoying their magnificent support in the coming years."
Well I'm glad it happened, no idea what will take place over the next few years but I at least feel optimism which was not present under the last year of LVG.
Rashford has now scored on his club debut (FC Midtjylland in Europa), his Premier League debut (Arsenal), and his England debut (Australia). All on his very first shot of each game.
Netherlands finished 3rd in the WC and he wasn't going to sign a new contract as he wanted to go to a club team. Spurs was thought to be the favorite to hire him until MU fired Moyes.
Supposedly one of the pundits on United's tv channel confirmed this the other day. No official announcement from the club yet tho.
ESPN alert just came through saying a source close to the club tells them that Mou is open to the idea of selling both Mata and Blind.
I know it's been less than a week, but anyone else surprised that we have heard nothing on the transfer front? I didn't expect to sell any players this fast, but with the 200-300 million budget Mourinho has I was expecting at least one player to be bought by now.
Not like it means much, but De Gea told the Manchester evening news that he plans on staying with United.
Its all over Twitter that United have triggered the $40m release clause of Villareal & Ivory Coast international Eric Bertrand Bailly. 22 years old, center back.
Manchester Evening News - Dutch starlet Tahith Chong has announced he's joined Manchester United academy.
Might have to snag me one of next season's away kits. They are pretty damn fantastic imo, minus the chevy logo.
Reports that we are after 19 year old Basel striker Breel Embolo. Would love the signing but would also be bad news for Rashford.
