Agree with Mel re: VH3 but why not just select one of the myriad of positions where we do need help? Or better yet, trade back with someone who wants VH3 and select another position
At this point whoever we take I'm gonna be pissed unless someone falls or we trade. Too late for a top talent and too many questions on the players available at 13
LOL that any reporter ACTUALLY knows jack shit. I mean if you dont learn to ignore anything that starts with "you hear" or "i am hearing" around draft time...
You're not wrong, but would it shock you if this came out? Our organization hasn't exactly been air tight of late. Plus trading back up after trading back is a total dolphins move
Miami Dolphins Top needs: Cornerback, running back, offensive guard The Dolphins' roster has several well-defined needs entering the draft. Cornerback and running back are clearly at the top, however. Miami has two openings at cornerback -- one as a starter and one to play nickel. The team also lost leading rusher Lamar Miller in free agency to the Texans, and there is no proven replacement on the roster. -- James Walker
Actually yes because it wouldnt come from a Dolphins leak and as horrid as an organization it seems to be...I still wouldnt expect it from them. If anything it comes from whoever might shop the pick to get leverage on other teams to up offers or from agents trying to push their guys. Its all a bunch of stupid games and using reporters as pawns and they eat it up
GIVE HIM ALL THE MONEY! Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 21s21 seconds ago Panthers have removed franchise tag on CB Josh Norman, now a free agent.
Issue is teams like Jax and SF gave a lot more cap room and apparently he prefers playing on the west coast
As a Dolphins fan I'm really trying to not get my hopes up about josh Norman...but man would that be huge for us
Big $, Wrong side of 30, Has done well in a zone scheme that maxwell was terrible in last year. It would look good on paper, but I think we would be mismatching corners, and have a lot of money in both of them
A six-pack of Dolphins notes: • With Miami not likely to land free agent Josh Norman, cornerback remains a high priority, though we hear a few other players also intrigue the Dolphins with their first-round pick if they fall to their range at No. 13. If the Dolphins rate a non-cornerback as the best player on their board when they're picking at No. 13, there's a belief they could still land a quality corner at 42 and/or 73, a prospect such as UM’s Artie Burns (if there at 42) or Baylor’s Xavien Howard or Virginia Tech's Kendall Fuller or Samford's James Bradberry, among others. Drafting two corners is very much a possibility. Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott’s visit here Tuesday went very well, he would welcome the Dolphins drafting him if he slips to 13, and Miami has strong interest, according to someone involved. He already has a lease on an apartment in Miami, though that has nothing to do with any possibility of him landing with the Dolphins. Meanwhile, the Dolphins recently sent a contingent to Los Angeles to conduct a private workout with UCLA’s Myles Jack, the draft’s best linebacker. There’s Dolphins interest if he surprisingly slips out of the top 10. • What about UF’s 5-10 Vernon Hargreaves, who could be the best corner available at 13? Though he cannot be ruled out if he’s the best player available, I do know this: There is some resistance to Hargreaves among some Dolphins scouting/front office people who believe he’s undersized and see him more as a nickel back. Miami’s preference is a big, physical boundary corner. The Dolphins prefer bigger corners in general and are intrigued by Houston’s William Jackson and Ohio State’s Eli Apple, two 6-1 corners who visited. Jackson at No. 13 is certainly a possibility, but analysts disagree about whether Jackson is good value at 13. (Mel Kiper says he’s not.) Most pundits have Apple in the 20s or lower. One Dolphins official said trading down from 13 for a corner would be a consideration, if there's not a player at 13 that Miami covets in that range and if it believes one of the tall corners would be available later in the first round. • Besides Jack, Elliott and the corners, the Dolphins have closely studied a handful of first-round front-seven defenders, including Clemson defensive ends Kevin Dodd (visited, but 13 is higher than projected) and Shaq Lawson and linebackers Leonard Floyd (Georgia), Reggie Ragland (Alabama) and Darron Lee(the Ohio State product is Kiper’s choice for the Dolphins, but at 6-1, 232 pounds isn’t their ideal size preference). Ragland told Sirius XM tonight that he made seven visits in the past two weeks, and the Dolphins, Bears and Saints have shown the most interest in him. And we've also been told the Dolphins like Ragland. • As one of several fallback options, the Dolphins have discussed taking one of the top offensive tackles if one slips and moving him to guard, though 13 is high for a guard. Kiper said would take Texas A&M guard/tackle Germain Ifedi (who visited Miami) in the first round. But 13 would seem too high. • The Dolphins, looking for a skilled returner who could lessen Jarvis Landry’s workload on special teams, have been in touch with several. They summoned Texas Tech’s 5-6 Jakeem Grant to Davie this week; he had four kickoff returns for touchdowns in his career and a 26.2 average last season. At UCLA, they auditioned Devin Fuller (24.2 kickoff average last season), among others. They’re open to finding competition for kicker Andrew Franks and dispatched special teams coachDarren Rizzi or other staffers to privately audition several, including Texas’ Nick Rose and Albright’sDaniel Sobolewski. • One team official said the past coaching staff didn’t use tight end Jordan Cameron to his strengths and expects that to change… Dolphins conversations remain ongoing with free agent defensive end Jason Jones, with both sides interested.
I'm officially team trade back for picks. With all the questions starting to pop up on Bosa, Hargreaves, and Jack, fuck it. Get back, get another 2 if we can, probably still grab Apple, Jackson, or Lee in the first.
Armando seems to think if we draft a LB it'll be a bigger guy...a thumper type. Says the new DC likes those types. Seems to be hinting at Ragland. I know some aren't crazy about him but we do have two LBers who are smaller that can run, which is probably the one area that is a semi-weakness. He's better in coverage than given credit for imo
We just traded for Alonzo, can't see drafting a Mike backer in the first. Lee and Jack the only 2 think we would be into that high.
We've only got Alonso for a year though, right? Or did we extend that? I think there was some talk of extending that deal by like a year but I forgot if we did or not Kinda weird the coaches seem down on Franks. I thought he did pretty well for us last season. He's not like top tier but I didn't think he was a liability by any means
Think his rookie deal is up, but imagine they extend. why trade for him and not extend him at least a year? Still, Ragland is a 2 down player, and would come off the field in Nickle for us. Would really be bad value taking him that high. not a fit for us IMO
Source indicated #Dolphins have a strong interest in Michigan State OT Jack Conklin as possible pick at No. 13. We shall see. -Jason cole
PhinsPhocus.com @Phins_Phocus So Reshad Jones is reportedly planning to hold out this offseason in search of a new deal. Thoughts? PhinsPhocus.com @Phins_Phocus As good as Jones is, it's not right to negotiate via holdout since he just signed a contract in 2014. Not sure he has outplayed it yet. PhinsPhocus.com @Phins_Phocus He hasn't even played 2 full seasons on new contract. And already highest paid SS in game. Make him do it again before giving in to demands
Sounds like Tanne and Parker are developing chemistry. Also, Omar Kelly suggesting we draft Shawn Oakman
As has been said probably 20,000 times in these threads, fuck omar. what a fucking joke. That tannehill and parker news is cool tho
Heard Kiper talking about the chargers moving back in the last podcast, threw out there again that he's been hearing for 2 weeks that Miami is trying to come up for Elliot. Really, really hoping that shit is a smokescreen, wrong, anything but true.
wouldnt mind it, wasted pick for this season.....but it would be like getting an extra first rounder in 2017 (assuming he's ready to go for 2017 season)
