Beasley said the 4th could be a comp pick. We should have a 3rd comp for Vernon too, so it's not like we are giving the farm away. Is this kid worth it? That I don't know.
Mini rant incoming. The WR is a must hit pick or someone needs to be fired IMO. You can't trade multiple future assets to draft a player at the deepest position on the roster. It just doesn't make any sense. Today, pretty much everyone who covers the team said the fins were praying for jack to fall to them. Personally, I wanted to avoid a risky pick, but if they have a conviction on the guy, go get him. Hell, I'd much rather our draft be over and walk out of today with Jack and Howard than what they ended up doing. The fins are one of the worst teams I have ever seen at managing the draft. There is a reason the patriots have 5+ picks in the first 3 rounds every year. They make at least one trade down for futures every season. You have so much more flexibility walking into a draft with an extra 2nd and 3rd rounder. It's really not that difficult. Now I'm not saying they should have traded down in the first or 2nd this year, but why are you trading futures to draft a guy who isn't a need? They could have sat on drake until the end of the third and he still would have been there. Perfect opportunity to move down 10-15 spots and pick up a 3rd or 4th next year and begin the stockpile and eventually you have the ammo to make the big move and make 2 first round picks or make the big move to the top of the draft to get the elite player that you desperately want. Instead because of the moves today, the fins will go into the draft next year dealing from a position of weakness and the cycle will continue. If it weren't for tunsil falling into our laps, nobody would be feeling good about this draft
I don't disagree with the moving back part. As much as I hate to say it, we can forget about the Dolphins doing that as long as Tannenbaum is running the show. His history shows he is much more likely to move up than back. The thing I like about this draft is we are clearly getting the players we like. Every pick (except tunsil) has been a guy we've been linked to predraft. the thing I don't like is we have only picked one defensive player in these early rounds.
Dolphins fans, meet Leonte Carroo, the No. 6 WR on PFF's board: https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2016/02/29/draft-pff-scouting-report-leonte-carroo-wr-rutgers/
hey if the pick works out, ill come eat my crow. It does seem like a good pick. I just don't like giving up what it took to get him.
Especially at WR where we have two young studs. You can't draft every kid you like, that's just part of it. Unless he's at minimum a solid #2, which I don't see over Parker and Landry, we simply gave up too much for him. Felt like we just got caught up in a guy and it will be a very inefficient use of resources for a #3 or 4 WR. Just think we need depth and with our cap situation going forward we need a multiple picks for cheap young talent and iirc we gave up a 3, 4, 4, and a 6 yesterday. Not as worried about the CB pick but thought that was simply way too much to move up for that WR. I do like him just think that will come back and bite us
exactly my thoughts. Which goes back to what I said earlier. If the fins were so high on Jack, why not use the assets they used for the WR to make sure they got Jack? It just doesn't make any sense
right. and Jax only gave up a 5th to move up to get him. You got to think if the fins really wanted jack, some of the 3 picks they used to get the WR could have been added to whatever they were offering to make sure they got jack.
Are you Armando? Any person reading that ass hats' stuff must be him. Given how constantly negative you are it wouldn't shock me
#Dolphins get WR/KR Jakeem Grant. He's a bargain here. Dynamic playmaker. Super quick. He's tiny but was toughest guy on #TexasTech team.
New Dolphins WR Jakeem Grant, all of 5-7, with monster numbers last year: 90 catches, 1268 yards, 10 TDs... Averaged 26.1 on 39 KO returns.
Jordan Lucas held opponents to an average of 4.4 yards after the catch, the 15th-lowest rate in this S class (min. 25 targets)
The #Dolphins and the #Browns exchanged 7th round picks while sending Jamar Taylor for a fresh start in Cleveland
Jakeem Grant is 5-5 3/4: "I tell people I'm 5-6 1/2, because you never go anywhere with your shoes off."
Thomas Duarte is a terrific Miami pick. Match up TE who can cause real problems with LB's. He's a Jordan Reed clone. Another solid selection
Duarte could be a steal. Staff must have a lot of faith that the scheme change is going to get the defense right. After trading taylor, we've net 1 defensive player this draft
Yeah I really like that pick Will be interesting to see what we get out of our TE's with Gase. 3 good receiving options now
i'll be honest here: i like most of our draft picks, but idk if it's because of years of mediocrity/ failure, but none of this changes anything with me. do you really think tannehill is going to make strides forward and be the qb that he has the capacity to be? do you really think our defense turns around in one season? i just don't see any of it. hopefully gase is the truth, but i'm prepared for an eternity of purgatory with the fins.

A four-year starter who had 30 tackles, 1 sack and one INT last season. He had four career picks and 25 passes defended.
