Crazy story. Now which one of you did it? http://deadspin.com/someone-appears-to-be-trying-to-hoax-the-marlins-presid-1727972048
@JoeFrisaro: My take on Dan Jennings' meeting w/ #Marlins management Thurs is it went well for DJ, expected to be GM next year, in good standing
Have to have the most blown saves in the mlb by a decent margin Bullpen needs a complete overhaul But we have "a playoff caliber core" so we should all buy season tickets
The Dodgers have designated righty Mat Latos for assignment, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports on Twitter.
Also read yesterday that Loria is going to try to trade Ozuna for a young starting pitcher in the offseason
Meanwhile this kid has been killing it lately @GlennGeffner: Justin Bour with 18 HR & 61 RBI. He's hit the 8th-most HR by a #Marlins rookie & stands 13th in RBIs between Cabrera (62) & Stanton (59).
@flasportsbuzz: ESPN reporting Marlins interviewed Manny Acta for manager job today. Marlins official said last week that Acta being bilingual is a plus.
@JoeFrisaro: Indications I've heard #Marlins have already engaged in discussions with Dusty Baker. Unsure when. But this process has been ongoing
@JoeFrisaro: From what I've heard, Bo Porter - #Braves third base coach - interviewed for #Marlins last weekend when ATL was in MIA
about a decade too late Joe Frisaro @JoeFrisaro 22h22 hours ago The #Marlins plan on creating metrics department. Matt Arnold #Rays director of player personnel interviewed w/ Miami. Would be a fit

well....atleast he might actually strangle Loria Ken RosenthalVerified account@Ken_Rosenthal Sources: Larry Bowa going for second interview with #Marlins.
@Ken_Rosenthal: Forget Loria for a moment. Mattingly has been in big-market, high-pressure situations entire career as player, coach and manager…
@Ken_Rosenthal: #Marlins’ job could appeal to Mattingly for that reason alone. Would finally get chance to work with young team, coach up players.
@jcrasnick: #Marlins on verge of adding Jim Benedict of #Pirates as their new VP of pitching. Great hire.
@flasportsbuzz: ..Marlins also hired Pirates' Jim Benedict to role of vice president/pitching. Was Pirates' assistant to GM and pitching guru; well-regarded @JoeFrisaro: #Marlins name Jim Benedict Vice President, Pitching.. FYI, this is a huge pickup for Mia @flasportsbuzz: Washington doesn't plan to interview Mattingly, says @JimBowden_ESPN. Would leave Marlins as logical choice for Mattingly unless Padres call
@jcrasnick: Benedict is regarded as one of the best pitching doctors in baseball. He'll have a major impact with the #Marlins.
@jcrasnick: Jim Benedict and Mark DelPiano were hugely valuable assets to #Pirates organization. Big pickups by the #Marlins.
October 23rd, 2015 at 6:20pm CST • By Steve Adams The Marlins’ managerial search is in full effect after the team formally announced that Dan Jennings would not return to the dugout and has been asked to rejoin the front office. To this point, it’s known that Larry Bowa, Manny Acta and Bo Porter are candidates for the Marlins, who are said to prefer someone with previous managerial experience. Here’s the latest on their search… Mattingly has interest in the Marlins’ job, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. Miami will likely reach out to him to open discussions within “the next few days,” per the report. Because the sides have yet even to meet, Jackson says it would be premature to call the match-up a done deal. But he echoes the other reports suggesting that Mattingly is the front-runner to become the next Miami skipper. Don Mattingly will hit the open market after parting ways with the Dodgers, and the Marlins have often been said (see here and here) to have keen interest in him. That is indeed still the case, as MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro tweets. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says (on Twitter) that the Fish have “serious” interest, explaining that their managerial search has been on “semi-hold” while waiting to see what would happen in Los Angeles. Nevin has also received two interviews, tweets Bob Nightengale of USA Today, who calls Mattingly a “favorite” for the position now that he’s free to join any club. Bowa is taking his second interview with the Fish tomorrow, Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com reports on Twitter. Currently the Phillies bench coach, Bowa has previously skippered the Padres (1987-1988) and Phillies (2001-2004). Among the candidates in Miami is Alex Cora, who’ll receive an interview. But reports indicate that the organization may prefer to wait until the Dodgersdecide on Don Mattingly to make their own hire. Mattingly would make for an appealing candidate to the Fish.
### Former Dodgers manager Don Mattingly interviewed for the Marlins’ managerial job on Monday, and both sides entered the day wanting a deal to get done in the coming days and optimistic that it would. Mattingly, 54, likes working with young players and is intrigued by the idea of working with the Marlins' roster, according to an associate. He wants assurances that he could hire his own coaches, but the Marlins have said publicly they will grant that authority to anyone they hire. He also wanted to make sure the offer would give him financial security, but finances weren’t expected to be an issue because owner Jeffrey Loria has been willing to spend generously on managers that strongly appeal to him. Mattingly earned $1.5 million this year as Dodgers manager and was reportedly set to make $1.6 million next season, which the Dodgers would not owe him if he lands another managing job for at least that amount. Loria, who lives in New York, always has been fond of Mattingly dating to his days with the Yankees, where he spent his entire 14-year career, made six All-Star teams and was named American League MVP. The Dodgers and Mattingly announced a “matural agreement” to part ways last week. Mattingly won 55.1 percent of his games in five seasons there and led the Dodgers to the past three National League West titles but never made a World Series. The Dodgers apparently wanted a bigger return on their $272 million payroll, baseball’s largest in 2015. Washington and San Diego also have managerial openings, but neither is believed to have targeted Mattingly, who wants to manage next season. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis said he is “confident that Don Mattingly is going to be a World Series champion manager” and praised how he handled interaction with players. "Nothing was ever done in a group setting," Ellis said. “It was always one on one, which is the way I think it should be done. Nobody wants to be embarrassed or called out in front of teammates. He would have a coach grab someone and have them come to his office. He'd hash it out there and have a conversation.” Mattingly received high marks for how he handled players. "I think he had a good sense of when to approach players, not just when to do it, if to do it all," General Manager Farhan Zaidi told The Times. "But also the timing, when to let things calm down for a day or two before approaching guys. Knowing when to push buttons and when to let things go.” "Being the manager of a major league baseball team, a lot of times people focus on the Xs and Os, but the players are people and individuals. Just like in any business, when you're a manager you have to know how to manage egos and personalities. And I think that's a big part of this job." The Times said that Mattingly was receptive to analytics --- something the Marlins are placing more emphasis on.
Lol the guy who can't win anything with a $272 million payroll is going to win with your shitty payroll and roster?
I mean, they finished 80-82 in a division way fucking better than the NL East and took 5 of 6 from the Marlins.
You're really turning to the manager when it comes to winning playoff baseball? Ned Yost actively tries to lose games sometimes and they are up 2-0 right now.
Welp @flasportsbuzz: Per sources, the Marlins have dismissed Dan Jennings. They believe it's in best interests of organization. Announcement expected later.

Ehhh the really bad moves the Marlins have made over his tenure had loria's finger prints all over them. Marlins are stuck in neutral until loria sells
