Remember about a year ago when you tried to act like I was being crazy for suggesting that Erdogan was doing nothing to debilitate, and even was tacitly aiding ISIS. Erdogan fanboy.
Prob nothing crazy, but explosions and injuries report in Ankara just now: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/ankara-explosions-reports-multiple-blasts-6898816
The Turks hate the Greeks and Greece can't do shit about it because they're both nato. Turkey wouldn't be doing any of this posturing if they didn't have the power of nato to fall back on when they piss off the wrong people.
Russia is deploying their advanced s-400 SAMs to their latakia base. Range of 70-250 miles depending on what version of missle. Kind of a scary escalation. Their previous defense systems at Latakia only had a 12 mile range.
I think ultimately it's irrelevant whether or not there was warning. Seems completely unnecessary to shoot down the plane of an ally you know isn't taking hostile action toward you.
Russia has absolutely been taking hostile action toward turkey and its Turkmen ethnic group on the border. Mostly by bombing the fuck out of them and arming assad's forces
They're Turkish citizens on Turkish soil. There's plenty of spill-over into Syria and gets murky, but Turks are getting bombed by Russians and erdogan is getting heat
Yes. Erdogan is bae. He should absolutely do all he can to put his country's priorities and interests first, just like any other country would. Russia is propping up a vicious regime and bombing civilians. The US is restraining and choking potential support for the rebels from 3rd parties in order to prevent non-Israel friendly/moderate Muslim groups from gaining a foothold resulting in thousands of deaths. See friend, the whole situation is a proxy war clusterfuck and all of these leaders have blood on their hands. Fuck the Kurds and fuck ISIS more. Erdogan runs a massive country and his number one goal is to conduct and carry out the will of his people, which for the majority is to protect the nation's security interests and put down the Kurdish insurgency. Get the fuck over it already.
Kurds on twitter have been saying that Russia destroyed 100's of Bilal Erdogan's (the son) oils trucks days before the SU-24 was shot down. He was using them to smuggle ISIS oil out of Syria.
I mean turkey has been letting ISIS do whatever they want for awhile now, the west isn't going to do it say anything.
And yes EOE, fuck the Kurds. You know the only people over there actually taking the fight to ISIS. Or that seem to be able to run a somewhat normal, functioning government.
Wouldn't surprise me. One thing I've noticed since the Russians got involved is how shitty their aim and cameras are. Given their dash cam track record, one would think their military cams would be on point.
To be fair... Things have changed over the last year. Most recent analysis states that almost of of IsIs oil is for domestic consumption, and turkey has shut down some smuggling routes. They have also slowed down the routes ISIS recruits use to sneak into Syria ISIS is making anywhere fro 20-50,000 bpd of "refinable" oil. That doesn't leave much if any left for export to turkey. (while supposedly selling to Kurds and Assad too.) "Though many believe that Isis relies on exports for its oil revenue, it profits from its captive markets closer to home in the rebel-held territories of northern Syria and in its self-proclaimed “caliphate”, which straddles the border between Syria and Iraq. The group sells most of its crude directly to independent traders at the oil fields. In a highly organised system, Syrian and Iraqi buyers queue in their tankers at the entrances to fields, often waiting for weeks." "With Isis only concerned with making its profits ‘at the pump’, smuggling fuel into neighbouring countries can be good business for entrepreneurial Syrians and Iraqis." "Some Syrian and Turkish border towns have co-operated by burying small rubber tubes under the border, such as at Besaslan. In recent months, Turkey has stepped up border patrols and are constantly digging out the makeshift pipelines. A popular crossing point for smugglers carrying jerry cans of fuel on their backs has been from Kharbet al-Jawz in rebel-held Syria to Guvecci in Turkey. This has been largely shut down by Turkish forces, but the remote terrain makes it impossible to stop." Good financial times article last month about the ISIS business model. http://ig.ft.com/sites/2015/isis-oil/
No CS!!! The Erdogan is an ISIS sympathizer narrative looks meager now! Fucking mental midgets. I'm in no way shape or form a fan of any of these fuckwads and I understand the Kurds place in ME history better than most. They've been persecuted, pushed aside, and ignored for decades. They have some intentions that are righteous and noble, but they couldn't give two shits less about Syria as a whole and they've committed numerous terrorist attacks against Turkey. It's understandable that any Turkish leader with power and clout would be weary of them. Turkey has to walk a fine line between toppling Assad, not supporting a savage terror group, and protecting its own interests. Spare me the usual BS mud-slinging. You don't have the answer (Sway!) and neither do I. All I champion for is taking information into context. I admire Erdogan because he took a nation that was sputtering, increased its economic and political influence ten-fold, all while making the country more inclusive, allowing additional social freedoms (for the most part), and even giving Kurds greater autonomy and representation. That's unheard of in the corrupt shit-hole that is the ME
Their goal is to run a normal, functional government. But they're finding if they want to control the populace with brutality then they need to make an iron curtain or wall to trap in their citizen. Now everyone is just leaving and theyre losing all their tax revenue. With the bombings shutting down their oil routes and the banks they like to pillage eventually running out they're going to be too bankrupt to do anything resembling a government. Also they're good at recruiting angry teenagers but are in desperate need of anyone with a useful profession like engineers or doctors.
Ya Turkey's economy is in the shitter, Erdogan is jailing journalists that speak out against him, ISIS has been openly operating in the country for 18 months....bang up job he's doing.
This cannot be understated. It has been documented that in recent recruitment literature and videos that ISIS has now resorted to begging for recruits with viable professions or skills. Sure they can use the grunts, but their government and infrastructure is falling apart at the seams. They desperately need accountants, doctors, engineers, civil servants, etc. They are essentially now targeting the educated class - exactly the ones who are far less likely to enlist in support of their twisted Caliphate. And as their supply lines continue to shrink, things are going to go from bad to worse in ISIS controlled territories. Considering they already had issues with supplying electricity and fresh water, they are becoming even more unpopular with some of their most fervent supporters. In other words, ISIS is going to struggle to maintain a hold over the territories they have taken via sheer military might and brutality. They need folks with a purpose beyond killing, and that's where they are struggling to attract followers the most. We'll see how this all plays out.
Edrogan is a despotic madman who has undone 30 years of progress in turkey. Hes a fucking radical islamic piece of shit who has ruined secular democratic government in turkey
December 1st, 2014. The current map. Big changes are Idlib province , Palmyra, and of course that gigantic advance by the YPG and allies in the north.
You just don't know man. EOE lived over there like 20 years ago so he knows more about that area of the country and its history than any of us. Cause it's not like the internet allows people to research pretty much everything under the sun these days.
Garmıyanı @Sarbarzi 15m15 minutes ago Garmıyanı Retweeted Agence France-Presse lol Garmıyanı added, Agence France-Presse @AFP #BREAKING Turkey would have acted differently if it knew downed plane was Russian: Erdogan
https://citeam.org/russian-specoper...illed-in-syria/ Russia might be covering up more fatalities in Syria, soldiers just can't stop themselves from posting selfies. Erdogan has blamed the country's economic problems on a shadowy cabal of treasonous bankers working with international capital to stifle turkey. http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN0LW0Y520150228
@businessinsider: 2 Turkish journalists have been jailed for reporting that Turkey was smuggling arms to Syrian rebels https://t.co/q93vT4LHQh Erdogan is such a godsend for Turkey.
Russian jets having Garmin GPS is still killing me. I think the area that the United States military just dominates everyone else is in logistics and coordination. We would fucking eviscerate any of the Soviet style militaries out there and I'll go to my grave saying that. Just stay out of stupid quagmires and save the military for the big shows, America.
it's just the wikipedia one https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/61/Syria_and_Iraq_2014-onward_War_map.png
Prominent pro-PKK figure was assassinated on live tv in Turkey. He was talking about how both sides need to end the violence and that the PKK were not terrorists. Gunfire erupted as soon as his statements ended, and he was killed along with 1 or 2 cops. Edrogan is blaming the PKK for the assassination lol
Pakistan is one of the more bitch-made countries out there. also lol grats to IS on their vast wasteland to rule over. this is like going to western Australia and planting a flag, of course you own a big part there's nobody living near you for 200km.
