I don't know if there is one already but if not there needs to be. CR7 just knocked in a penalty to put us up 1-0.

I was warming up to Di Maria because he creates a lot of space on the wing, but he needs to stop shooting so much and pass/cross the ball to step up his teammates.

I like the way we are progessing overall though. so much more fluidity to us already this year than last. tso has us headed in the right direction.

we need a striker. tso must be real unhappy with benzema cuz he never seems to get pt.

Re: ***Official Real Madrid Thread*** Espanyol

I really like this 4-2-3-1 formation. My preferred lineup would look something like this

    ---------------Casillas--------------

    Ramos----Carvalho----Pepe----Marcelo

    -------Khedira-------Alonso----------

    Di Maria-------Ozil--------Ronaldo

    --------------Higuain--------------

I think having Pepe back has helped the defense tremendously. I know that Mourinho said that he saw Ramos as a CB at first, but the best part of Ramos is his attacking style. The only problem I see is that both fullbacks like to attack a lot so there may bee openings for quick counters. Once Albiol is healthy again I expect to see him get some PT with all the games scheduled.

Having two amazing CDMs in Khedira and Alonso really helps. Also Lass played great today as he stayed back and only came forward a couple of times. The 3 attacking mids switch positions and roam so much that is hard to even designate them on a formation. Di Maria needs to pass/cross more and look for teammates. He has a nice shot but he squanders a lot of opportunities. Ronaldo is Ronaldo and he is selfish, but he creates stuff out of nowhere and when he is happy and scoring he will look more to pass like he did today. Ozil has been amazing so far, I think that he needs to be a bit more aggressive, he looks to pass to much sometimes, although his passing is extraordinary. Higuain is the question mark. When he is on, he is among the best, but sometimes he goes through rough spells.

The main problem so far has been the lack of finishing. They are getting a ton of chances and not converting and when facing better sides the opportunities wont be as abundant. Also better sides will pressure the defense more and exploit the wings and the spaces vacated by Ramos and Marcelo.

That is a small analysis of the team so far. I dont know where Kaka will fit in when he comes back. A healthy and in form Kaka (something we havent seen since his Milan days) would be right down scary opposite to Ronaldo but I would not put him in the lineup at the moment.

i think marcelo is our biggest problem. i agree with most of what you said though. i also think we need a striker. the more our guys play together in tso's system we will only get better but to me marcelo and the lack of a striker is our glaring weaknesses.

Real have 5 very good/great pieces in their front 6 but I just don't know about Di Maria. Is he better than David Silva? I don't think so. Why not go after him? Might need Kaka to produce. Di Maria is decent but he really is nothing special IMO.

I actually like Real but all this money they've spent, I really don't see anything special yet.

You feel like you just sort of attach yourself to whichever teams you wish.

Anyways, it will be interesting to see the 4-2-3-1 vs the 4-3-3. Wonder if Pep will go with a more defensive roster again by using Alves or Adriano along the flank.

for me di maria is garbage

he never moves off the ball and never looks around when he has it. all he does is stand around, wait for it to be passed to him, then puts his head down like a braindead spic and tries to get a shot off

he's like a way worse version of tevez

real already has ronaldo to be the guy that shoots, it doesnt need di maria on the field

Agree with this racist assestment. Real can do much better than Di Maria. Ronaldo is selfish enough and it's not like Di Maria's shots are going in. Like I said, a healthy Kaka would be great to go on the other side of CR7 but I dont know if we will ever see the old Kaka.

Also a question for you cas, where do you think Ozil would fit best for Real. I know he roams and moves a lot but I am starting to think we would be better on the right side take out Di Maria and put Kaka as CAM once he comes back...thoughts?

i tend to agree. im hoping tso will get through to him because he has the tools to do what we need. i want to get rid of kaka when he comes back its only a matter of time before hes hurt again. all he will do is stunt the kids growth by taking pt.

Re: ***Official Real Madrid Thread*** Espanyol

yeah i guess deploying them initially with ozil at right wing and kaka as cam would be the best move, but so much of ozil's game is roaming around and finding the ball or finding the channels.

telling him to stay on the rw would limit his impact considerably

i dont think you need to do it either, as long as kaka is flexible enough to rotate as well, both ozil and ronaldo are equally capable on the left, middle, right, a deeper role or a more advanced role. if kaka is the same, 3 players of that quality and flexibility would be impossible to defend

as long as you have a capable target man up front, and i think higuain has that ability as long as he stays consistent

I love this strategy by Sporting today. Same as Hercules and the Dutch in the final. Foul the fuck out of Barca. It's not England but am impressed by the tackling these last few games.
